Chapter 67: Just A Quick Jump!
Another beautiful day began as Chiba woke up in the cabin located in the back mountains. As he stepped outside, he encountered the Orochimaru team, who had arrived to dispose of some pigs.
Before Orochimaru could greet him, his expression suddenly changed, and he hurriedly pinched his nose and ran away. Tsunade complained about the odor, but she also vanished without a word. Only Jiraiya, with his strong willpower, fainted without uttering a sound.
Chiba, confused, wore an innocent expression. The odor on his body reappeared every two days, just like how regular people bathe. It smelled good after showering, but two days later, it would stink again. With a sigh, he moved Jiraiya a little farther away and returned to the cabin.
Inside the room, there was a warm box lunch waiting for him on the wooden table, which was clearly sent by Shizuka. “Looks like she’s off to water the dump again,” Chiba thought to himself. Since the previous day, Aburame Shizuka had been watering the dump all afternoon, referring to it as “accelerated evolution.”
“Eat first, then take a bath,” Chiba decided, picking up the box lunch filled with cooked rice. He couldn’t help but envy the Water Style ninja who could bathe whenever they wanted. Unlike himself, imitating any ninjutsu would result in him producing feces. While he was enjoying his meal, Shizuka hurriedly entered the house.
“Chiba, Anbu is looking for you. They said Fujiki wants to see you for the last time,” Shizuka informed him.
“What?” Chiba froze, surprised by the news. He hadn’t seen Fujiki in the past two days, so why would it be the last time today?
“I don’t know either. Anbu went to your yard to find you and said Fujiki is at the hospital,” Shizuka explained.
Chiba abandoned his meal, stood up, and left, with Shizuka wanting to accompany him.
“Why is someone lying here?” Shizuka asked, puzzled, upon seeing a person lying nearby.
“Ahem, he’ll wake up when I leave,” Chiba replied, feeling a bit embarrassed. The Aburame clan in the village was the only group not bothered by the smell on his body. Besides them, everyone else considered him an enemy.
“That’s fine then! You take care of this, and I’ll go alone,” Chiba suggested.
Arriving at the village from the back mountains, Chiba rushed through the streets toward the hospital. Taking a bath was the least of his concerns. Perhaps after he showered, the vine Wooden Golem would disappear. After all, the person he was going to meet was his only friend.
“The Dung King is here again!” pedestrians exclaimed as Chiba passed by, causing a commotion. Chiba paid no attention and continued on his way.
Konoha Hospital came into view as Chiba burst into the building, causing panic among the staff. The smell of Ollie wafted through the air and permeated everywhere.
“Oh my god! Is the Dung King visiting the hospital too?”
“He’s here, which means we all have to go to the hospital!”
“I suddenly feel better. I think I can be discharged now.”
“Run!”
Patients and medical personnel were overwhelmed by the stench. A ninja with a broken leg, even before his plaster cast had fully dried, smelled the odor and jumped out of the window. Another patient, who was asleep, closed their eyes and passed away upon smelling the scent. Some individuals were in the middle of receiving injections, but as soon
as they caught a whiff, the doctors fled before removing the needles.
Inside the ward, Mitokado Homura stood beside the bed, wearing an anxious expression. Tsunade shook her head, sighing helplessly.
“Fujiki has been poisoned for too long. After being poisoned, he rushed back from the Land of Whirlpools, and his whole body became infected,” Tsunade explained. She then looked at Homura apologetically.
Upon hearing Tsunade’s words, Homura’s face turned pale instantly. He had thought it would be safe to send his son to experience life in the Land of Whirlpools. After all, it was surrounded by the sea on three sides, with the Land of Fire being the only land connecting them. Yet, even in such a secure environment, Fujiki had been attacked.
“This toxin seems to have come from the Sand Shinobi Village,” Tsunade deduced, showcasing her expertise in toxins.
Homura didn’t respond; he just gazed quietly at his son lying on the hospital bed. Fujiki’s eyes were open, and his body exhibited black and purple discoloration, indicating that the toxin had spread throughout his entire body. He tried to speak, but no sound came out. In his hand, he held a glass bottle that appeared to be of great importance.
Suddenly, the ward’s door swung open, and Chiba rushed in. As Chiba entered, the room was instantly filled with the stench of Ollie.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Tsunade was the first to leap out of the window, followed by Homura, leaving Fujiki and Chiba alone for their final meeting.
“Fujiki!” Chiba exclaimed, shocked to see Fujiki covered in black and purple.
Without a doubt, Fujiki had been poisoned.
“Well…” Fujiki managed to move his mouth and looked at Chiba. His arm trembled slightly as if he were exhausted and trying to lift it.
“Is this for me?” Chiba reached out and took the glass bottle, uncorking it and releasing a strong floral scent.
“Perfume!” Chiba recognized it immediately.
At that moment, Fujiki, lying on the hospital bed, smiled.
“You’re dying, yet you still remember to bring me perfume,” Chiba cursed, feeling a strong sense of blockage.
He had very few friends, only two that truly mattered: Shizuka and Fujiki. And now, Fujiki was on the brink of disappearing.
Poison? Antidote?
A realization flashed through Chiba’s mind.
“Fujiki! Don’t be afraid! You’ll be fine if you escape!”
