Chapter 90: Kakuzu Strikes; Chiba Worth 50 Million Taels!
Returning to the farm in a daze, Chiba felt a sense of darkness enveloping the world. He seemed lost and distant.
“Chiba, what’s wrong?” Shizuka noticed Chiba’s unusual behavior and approached him to inquire.
“It’s nothing. I’ll take a walk around the farm,” Chiba replied, shaking his head, and entered the farm.
At that moment, Aburame Zhihui approached and glanced at Chiba’s back before turning to her sister.
“Did you two have an argument?” Zhihui asked.
“No,” Shizuka replied.
“Then why does he seem downcast?” Zhihui wondered.
“I don’t know. He came back like this,” Shizuka said, genuinely unaware of the reason behind Chiba’s mood.
She had contemplated asking for assistance, but Chiba clearly didn’t want to discuss it further. So she believed it was best to leave him alone.
“I still lack strength…” Patriarch Aburame suddenly appeared and whispered.
“Father! Why do you always startle us like a ghost?” both siblings complained.
“Well…” With a long sigh, Patriarch Aburame floated away.
Back at the farm, Chiba started at the bottom of the mountain and climbed all the way to the top. After standing on the mountaintop for a while, he regained his composure.
“From now on, I am the new Chiba! The old Chiba is dead. I have a fresh start!” Chiba cheered himself on, instantly feeling much better.
And so, he began to tidy up the farm. On the first day, he utilized the Shit Rain Technique to fertilize the fields. On the following day, he transformed the farm’s toxic pools into sunken swamp cesspits.
Finally, the third day arrived. On this day, Chiba intended to find Danzo and request the assistance of Water Style ninjas to fill the empty pool with water.
As he walked along the path in the back mountains, he encountered a peculiar middle-aged man.
“Are you Chiba-sama?” the middle-aged man asked, full of excitement, as he hurriedly approached.
“Who are you?” Chiba asked, suspiciously eyeing the man’s dirty clothes and then his face.
He didn’t recognize him.
“My name is Kawano, and I’m a villager from Ono Village,” the man introduced himself, presenting a passport from his pocket.
“Do you have something to do with me?” Chiba inquired.
“I heard that you collect excrement, so our village gathered dung from nearby villages. We have a total of 50 carts,” Kawano explained.
“Fifty carts?” Chiba’s eyes lit up with excitement.
Kawano seemed like a kind person. Judging by his muddy appearance, it was clear that he had gone through hardships to come here.
“However, we couldn’t continue halfway, and several carts got damaged on the way,” Kawano continued.
“What? Did you hire people to transport them?” Chiba asked in surprise.
He never imagined that the villagers lacked cattle and instead relied on human power to transport the dung.
“Our carts are by a river, thirty miles away from the village. Let me show you…” Kawano began.
“I’ll go!” Chiba interrupted, slapping his chest and promising to help.
Thirty miles was nothing. Even if it were three hundred miles, he would still go.
“You show me the way, and I’ll head there right away,” Chiba declared.
Grateful for Chiba’s assurance, Kawano pointed him in the right direction. Soon, Chiba set off on his journey. Along the way, he also managed to make a few gold bars.
Today was a significant day for all the black market assassins in the Fire Kingdom. The underground gold exchange had posted a new high-paying job.
Konoha Village: Chiba!
Reward: 50 million taels!
Ability: Manure Control!
Weaknesses: Fear of Lightning Style, illusions, and stealth assassination!
This list drove countless assassins to madness.
Particularly, the fact that there was no limit on the number of participants, and only the result mattered, made it even more enticing. As the top assassin in the black market, Kakuzu quickly discovered the lucrative opportunity. He decided to take on the task.
“Hmm? Why is there a ‘6’ on the mission I accepted?” Kakuzu wondered, a bit puzzled.
In the past, there were never any numbers assigned when he received assignments. Why was there a ‘6’ this time?
“That means five people before you have already accepted the mission,” the receptionist explained with a smile.
“What? When did they start?” Kakuzu asked.
Without delay, Kakuzu hurriedly left. The footsteps quickened, and Kakuzu felt a little urgent.
Fifty million taels!
This is equivalent to the price of half a Kage-level powerhouse. Such a high price is actually the price of a shit escape ninja? It’s just money-grabbing.
Kakuzu didn’t know what happened on the Sand Shinobi border, because he didn’t ask for information about it at all. What’s more, he is very confident in his own strength.
“Even First Hokage has been assassinated by me, he’s just a piece of shit, use Lightning Style to kill him!”
