Chapter 96: Kakuzu: How Is My Delivery?
Chiba slipped out of the village once again, determined to uncover the mastermind behind the scenes. Gathering his courage, he prepared to investigate. Leaving the village, he activated his sand pad, soaring high into the sky.
“Fly up to 1,000 meters!” Chiba commanded, ascending and becoming a small dot in the sky.
Feeling a sense of security, Chiba continued to use his mimicry ability.
“Change Appearance!” Chiba’s eyes suddenly transformed, taking on a different appearance.
Now, Chiba had activated his detection mode.
“Let’s go!” Chiba bent down to scan the ground, his eyes functioning as high-precision radars, constantly searching the area.
Soon, he spotted a pair of mounds in his sight. But it wasn’t just any dunghill. He also noticed numerous detonation symbols buried within and seven hidden individuals.
“One in the dunghill, six outside… Wait, is that Kakuzu? And the one in the dung pile looks familiar too?” Chiba recognized the figures, surprised by their presence.
Simultaneously, the assassination team hidden around the dunghill also noticed the figure high in the sky.
“But why is he up there?
“I didn’t expect him to go straight to the heavens.”
“If he doesn’t come down, our mission will fail.”
“He’s too high up, there’s no way.”
The team communicated, realizing they were unable to reach Chiba in the sky. It was a testament to the unique abilities of a flying ninja. Helplessly, they turned to Kakuzu, their hopes resting on him.
“Master Kakuzu! Can you do something about this?”
The team members looked at Kakuzu expectantly, hoping he had a solution. At that moment, Kakuzu appeared indifferent, gazing up at the sky.
“Right about there…”
As Kakuzu muttered, an invincible aura emanated from him. Hearing Kakuzu’s words, the team members were overjoyed. They didn’t fully understand his intentions, but it was clear that Kakuzu had a plan.
Suddenly, without any warning, all five assassins collapsed. They felt an uncontrollable force erupting from their bodies as if their bodies were forcefully emptied of their contents.
“What’s happening?”
“I can’t hold it back! I feel so powerless…”
“So, Kakuzu was right? Are we losing weight?”
“This is so humiliating…”
Laughter echoed as the five individuals fell to the ground, completely drained. Little did they realize that Kakuzu had deceived his teammates.
“As expected, we have a mutual understanding,” Kakuzu said with satisfaction, bending down to look at the fallen individuals.
“I’ll take your hearts.”
With a swift motion, Kakuzu pierced one person’s chest, extracting their heart. He then proceeded to grab another person’s heart.
Meanwhile, Chiba had descended to the ground, witnessing Kakuzu’s actions. However, he paid no attention to Kakuzu’s attempts to take credit. Instead, he waved toward the dung pile.
Squirming movements began to emerge from the pile of dung as if it possessed a life of its own. Chiba had the ability to manipulate feces, making it easy for him to control it.
Within moments, a figure was thrown out of the dung pile.
“Is there anyone else?”
Kakuzu was taken aback when he saw the figure thrown in front of him. Had he failed to notice another person hidden within the dung pile?
With a thud, the figure landed on the ground, covered in filth. But the person was still alive. It was someone Chiba recognized.
Baki!
Chiba never expected to find Baki, the person who once covered himself with a blanket, hidden within the pile. Wasn’t Baki supposed to be in the Sand Shinobi Village?
Baki struggled in discomfort, still affected by the seal that bound him. After being sent by the Third Kazekage to deliver scrolls to Konoha, Baki had been placed under house arrest by the Hokage.
As a result, his entire body had been sealed, and he was ultimately thrown into the dung pile. Now, more than half of the seal had worn off, and he was close to undoing it completely.
In the field, facing Chiba, Baki couldn’t speak, only able to blink repeatedly.
“It seems you’re also an abandoned child, and the real mastermind behind all this is the Third Kazekage,” Chiba spoke softly.
With this realization, Chiba was determined to seek revenge against the Third Kazekage.
With a few compressions, Chiba transformed the dung pile into a dung ball, crushing the detonation tags in the process.
Whoosh!
Jumping onto the sand pad, Chiba flew swiftly towards the southwest. He was headed to the Sand Shinobi Village to teach the Third Kazekage a lesson he would never forget.
“Huh? My gold bars!” Kakuzu yelled as a reminder.
Unfortunately, Chiba had already flown away. Just then, Baki broke free from the seal.
“No! It’s not true! It’s the Hokage who wants to kill Chiba!” Baki desperately shouted.
But his words fell on deaf ears, as only Kakuzu remained in the area.
“Oh? You’re saying the Third Hokage wants to kill Chiba?” Kakuzu became intrigued, looking towards Baki.
He had no intention of killing the person in front of him, knowing they had a connection to Chiba. Otherwise, why would Chiba let them go?
“I’ll go inform him of the truth,” Baki said, preparing to rush to the Sand Shinobi Village.
But at that moment…
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Suddenly, several ANBU appeared, immediately launching an attack on Baki.
“Murder and silence?” Kakuzu smirked, dark black threads shooting out from his body.
In just a few moments, the ANBU members became lifeless corpses.
“So strong,” Baki muttered in shock.
Rustling sounds approached, indicating more people were coming. Kakuzu heard it, but Baki remained unaware.
“As Chiba’s partner, let me accompany you,” Kakuzu said with determination.
He picked up the still-dazed Baki and swiftly headed southwest.
When the group of assassins arrived at the scene, all they saw was Kakuzu carrying someone as they disappeared into the distance.
