Naruto World Through Tenseigan - Chapter 10
At this moment, Hyuga Kyo’s mind was filled with one thought: this time, he was indeed done for.
Against a seasoned warrior like Scorpion, once the element of surprise was lost, launching another successful sneak attack would be nearly impossible. Moreover, in a fight with someone of Scorpion’s level, even a minor scratch could lead to poisoning and the loss of combat ability. And how could one possibly avoid all injuries in a battle with such a formidable opponent?
So, the failure of this sneak attack meant that Hyuga Kyo had already decided on the outcome.
In the blink of an eye, the Third Kazekage puppet, pulled by Revolving Wish, was gripped by Hyuga Kyo by the neck. Without the control of Magnet Release, the iron spears in the air scattered, falling to the ground as black iron sand.
Staring at the Third Kazekage puppet in Hyuga Kyo’s hand from afar, Scorpion’s expression turned grim. He was both shocked and suspicious and even somewhat furious.
Although Hyuga Kyo’s mind was in disarray, he remained outwardly calm, showing no emotion.
Thus, the two stood silently in the swirling sandstorm, wary of each other.
This standoff made Hyuga Kyo increasingly tense, and just then, he noticed that his chakra was continuously flowing into the Third Kazekage puppet in his hand.
Although an unexpected change was occurring, Hyuga Kyo’s face showed no sign of it as he continued to stare coldly at Scorpion.
As more and more of his chakra flowed into the Third Kazekage puppet, Hyuga Kyo’s confidence waned. The thought of having gained the Tenseigan only to lose his life in the first battle filled him with bitterness and reluctance.
Suddenly, after about two-thirds of his chakra had flowed into the Third Kazekage puppet, the puppet in Hyuga Kyo’s hand began to twitch uncontrollably.
As the puppet twitched, the iron sand scattered on the ground started to float once more.
Seeing this, Scorpion was taken aback and shouted, “Damn it! You know puppetry? Who are you? Why did you arrange to meet with the village’s assassination squad here?”
“The Hidden Sand assassination squad!?”
Hearing Scorpion’s question, Hyuga Kyo was alarmed.
The corpses lying next to Scorpion earlier were members of the Hidden Sand assassination squad, which meant that the Hidden Sand Village was also involved in Konoha’s cleansing operation. This also implied that all of Konoha’s top brass had tacitly approved of this purge.
Suppressing his rage, Hyuga Kyo refocused on the present.
After a moment of confusion, he understood why the Third Kazekage puppet had suddenly been activated by him.
According to his vague memories from his past life, the Tenseigan, like the Rinnegan, had a significant ability: controlling puppets.
The Rinnegan controlled puppets using black rods, as seen with Nagato’s Six Paths of Pain, while the Tenseigan controlled puppets by infusing them with Tenseigan chakra. Once enough Tenseigan chakra was infused, it could even activate the puppets’ souls, granting them intelligence and a degree of autonomy.
In his recollections, Otsutsuki Toneri used such puppets to easily defeat the near-Kage-level Hyuga Hiashi without even showing up himself and then brazenly kidnapped Hanabi Hyuga from the village.
Realising this, Hyuga Kyo had a thought.
Without the need for chakra strings, the Third Kazekage puppet floated up under Hyuga Kyo’s control, shielding him and assuming an attack stance towards the Scorpion.
Only then did Hyuga Kyo speak calmly, “I have no interest in eliminating a rogue ninja from the Hidden Sand. We don’t need to keep fighting.”
Scorpion’s face darkened, “You think I’ll let you go after you’ve taken my prized collection?”
Even Scorpion, faced with the mysterious techniques Hyuga Kyo had displayed, felt a sense of dread. At that moment, he regarded Hyuga Kyo as a powerful opponent who could threaten his life.
Hyuga Kyo smiled, “This puppet retains most of its original combat abilities. I must admit, you’re a genius in puppet-making.”
This smile wasn’t just for show; Hyuga Kyo genuinely felt pleased. With the Third Kazekage puppet, he effectively gained the ability to fly, giving him control over the battle’s outcome.
The reason he hadn’t immediately left the battlefield and continued to exchange words with Scorpion was to figure out how to conceal his identity and avoid future retribution from Scorpion.
After all, being targeted by a powerful enemy like Scorpion could easily lead to a mysterious death, just like the Third Kazekage.
“Controlling a puppet without chakra strings, how did you do it?” Scorpion paused, then tilted his head with an evil smile, “Never mind, I’ll find out after I catch you!”
With that, Scorpion took out a red scroll.
With a light shout, the scroll unfurled, and several figures emerged from it, floating around Scorpion.
These figures were all puppets draped in red cloaks, ten in total, each with a different design. Some wielded swords; others carried large shuriken.
Scorpion laughed, “Red Secret Technique: Performance of a Hundred Puppets!”
Seeing this, Hyuga Kyo thought, “It seems Scorpion hasn’t mastered the Performance of a Hundred Puppets yet. But even ten puppets are more than enough for me!”
Rumbling…
With the sound of puppets moving, the ten red-cloaked puppets lunged at Hyuga Kyo.
Hyuga Kyo frowned and used Revolving Wish again.
Having lost two-thirds of his chakra, he was practically out of combat power. So, after using Revolving Wish to repel the ten red-cloaked puppets, he immediately jumped onto the Third Kazekage puppet.
In an instant, the iron sand formed into a pair of wings, and the Third Kazekage puppet carried Hyuga Kyo towards Mitsui Nakaji’s corpse.
“Damn it, that move again!”
Frustrated by Revolving Wish, a technique that didn’t require hand seals, Scorpion found it highly troublesome. However, through this trial, he realised that Revolving Wish had an effective range of only about fifteen meters. He immediately changed his tactics and directed the puppets to launch a ranged attack on Hyuga Kyo.
Without needing Hyuga Kyo’s command, the Third Kazekage puppet used Magnet Release to block all incoming kunai and shuriken.
Scorpion’s face darkened, feeling a sense of frustration from being countered by his own creation.
Soon, Scorpion had the ten red-cloaked puppets switch to using bone senbon coated with potent poison.
Magnet Release couldn’t control non-metallic objects, so the Third Kazekage puppet formed a hemispherical shield from the iron sand to protect Hyuga Kyo from behind.
Clang, clang, clang…
For a while, the sound of bone senbon hitting the iron sand shield was incessant…
