Naruto World Through Tenseigan - Chapter 11
Hyuga Kyo did not engage with Scorpion and instead flew directly over Mitsui Nakaji’s corpse, swiftly throwing several kunai wrapped with explosive tags.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
With a series of violent explosions, Mitsui Nakaji’s corpse was blown to pieces.
The reason Hyuga Kyo destroyed Mitsui Nakaji’s body was to prevent Scorpion from tracing his identity through Nakaji. Given that he was still determining how long he would stay at the border outpost, being found by Scorpion would leave him with nowhere to run. Besides, the village was actively trying to eliminate him; if he abandoned the outpost, the town would have a valid reason to charge him with desertion and justifiably execute him.
Destroying Mitsui Nakaji’s body would make it difficult for Scorpion to figure out Hyuga Kyo’s identity. No matter how strong Scorpion was, he was ultimately just a rogue ninja. Without the support of the Sand Village, gathering intelligence would be a significant weakness for him.
Furthermore, the collaboration between Konoha and the Sand Village in this operation, which involved purging their own ranks, would be known to very few people, likely only the highest echelons of both villages. Therefore, whether Scorpion tried to extract information from Konoha or the Sand Village, it would be tough to obtain specific details about those involved in this cleansing operation.
With one flying and the other chasing on the ground, the distance between Hyuga Kyo and Scorpion naturally grew wider.
Glancing at the furious Scorpion falling farther behind, Hyuga Kyo couldn’t help but laugh.
At this point, Scorpion had yet to join the Akatsuki. Although he had a record of killing Kage-level opponents, he was still a traditional Sand Village puppeteer, overly reliant on his puppets and lacking strategies to deal with various types of powerful adversaries.
Thus, after Hyuga Kyo had the luck to seize the Third Kazekage puppet, Scorpion’s combat power was significantly reduced.
This weakening didn’t just refer to combat strength but also mobility. With the Third Kazekage puppet, Scorpion gained the initiative on the battlefield. Whether to fight or flee was no longer his decision.
This scenario mirrored why the Fourth Hokage could quickly surpass the Sannin and gain renown across the ninja world.
Those who could fight the Fourth couldn’t catch him, and those who couldn’t fight him couldn’t escape. When and where to strike was entirely up to the Fourth. This was the most significant frustration for all his enemies as the Fourth’s strength grew day by day. Eventually, almost no one could defeat him one-on-one, earning him the title of “Yellow Flash” across the ninja world.
“Currently, Scorpion’s strength hasn’t reached its peak. After he joins the Akatsuki soon and witnesses the power of the Rinnegan, understanding the forces above Kage-level, his strength will further improve.
With these thoughts, Hyuga Kyo gradually distanced himself from Scorpion, left the desert terrain, and slipped into the forests within the Land of Rivers.
After confirming he had lost Scorpion, Hyuga Kyo deliberately took a long detour, finally stopping on a large tree about five miles from his outpost.
If he returned directly to the outpost, Hyuga Kyo would indeed be questioned about Mitsui Nakaji’s death.
However, having seized the Third Kazekage puppet, he couldn’t report the encounter with the Scorpion. Reporting it to the village would likely result in a thorough investigation, making it challenging to keep the Third Kazekage puppet. Moreover, involving an S-class rogue ninja would probably prompt the village to send a Jonin or even an elite Jonin to investigate, significantly increasing the chances of exposing his Tenseigan.
Therefore, he had to stage an act, making Mitsui Nakaji’s death seem plausible.
After some thought, Hyuga Kyo got to work.
He wrapped the exposed parts of the Third Kazekage puppet, like its head and hands, with bandages, leaving only a pair of slightly vacant eyes visible. He then draped a gray cloak over it.
Since the puppet was made from a natural body, its size was almost identical to when it was alive. Coupled with the lack of chakra strings, Hyuga Kyo’s disguise made the Third Kazekage puppet look like a living ninja.
After thoroughly examining it to ensure there were no flaws, Hyuga Kyo handed two kunai to the Third Kazekage puppet and had it inflict injuries on him.
With everything set, Hyuga Kyo started shouting for help as he dashed towards the outpost.
At the outpost.
Hearing Hyuga Kyo’s distant cries for help, Anko, who was recovering from her injuries, hesitated before leaping out of her room to the outpost’s exterior.
Simultaneously, the other two squad leaders at the outpost also emerged, looking warily in the direction of Hyuga Kyo’s cries.
Moments later, they saw the blood-soaked Hyuga Kyo staggering towards the outpost, pursued by a cloaked, unfamiliar ninja.
Without hesitation, the three Konoha ninjas, including the injured Anko, rushed forward to engage the pursuer.
Even in hand-to-hand combat, the Third Kazekage puppet was significantly more potent than Anko and the others. To avoid overdoing the act, Hyuga Kyo pretended to collapse from exhaustion, allowing the Third Kazekage puppet, disguised as the pursuer, to briefly exchange blows with the three before quickly retreating.
The three didn’t risk pursuing and returned to Hyuga Kyo, asking, “What happened?”
Hyuga Kyo shook his head, “I don’t know. Captain Mitsui and I were attacked as soon as we entered the Land of Wind. The captain died on the spot, and I barely managed to escape.”
Hearing this, Anko’s expression grew even more sombre.
The two other Chunin squad leaders exchanged glances, their eyes filled with suspicion and surprise.
Back in Hyuga Kyo’s room at the outpost, Anko tended to his wounds while hoarsely saying, “They’re all dead.”
By “they,” Anko meant the nine former subordinates of Orochimaru who came with them, excluding Hyuga Kyo and herself.
Today’s mission didn’t only involve Hyuga Kyo’s squad; the other two squads at the outpost were also sent out. However, only the two suspect squad leaders returned safely, while the former subordinates of Orochimaru, who served as their team members, all “accidentally” died.
Hyuga Kyo didn’t respond, merely nodding silently.
In less than two weeks, eight out of twelve people at a remote outpost had died. Apart from the unexpected death of Mitsui Nakaji at Scorpion’s hands, the other seven were all former subordinates of Orochimaru. It was evident to anyone with eyes and a functioning brain that there was something fishy going on.
After a moment, Hyuga Kyo pointed outside and whispered, “Be careful of them. I suspect they’re from the Root.”
Anko had already noticed that the three newly transferred squad leaders seemed off, so she nodded, then whispered, “What happened today?”
Hyuga Kyo glanced at Anko and calmly replied, “Don’t overthink it. I really ran into trouble today.”
