Naruto World Through Tenseigan - Chapter 15
Having settled the team arrangement, Hyuga Kyo went back to reviewing the mission list while Itachi stood quietly by his side, waiting patiently for Kyo to select a mission.
When he reached the second page of the mission list, a name suddenly caught Hyuga Kyo’s attention.
“Shinn?!? Who is this guy, daring to use such a grandiose name?” He inwardly complained, then began seriously reviewing the mission details.
The mission was straightforward: escort a physician named Shinn? to the Land of Rice Fields, which borders the Land of Fire.
As he read the mission description, Hyuga Kyo furrowed his brow. For some reason, he had a sense of déjà vu.
After a moment, he finally remembered.
In his vague memories, there was indeed a remnant of the Sky Ninjas disguised as a physician, travelling through various countries to gain fame while secretly stealing forbidden techniques from different ninja villages. This person was named Shinn?. Later, he even created an artificial-tailed beast called “Zero-Tails,” causing quite a stir.
“Could it be him?”
After some thought, Hyuga Kyo decided that regardless of whether it was the same person or not, he would take on this mission.
After completing the mission paperwork, Hyuga Kyo and Itachi soon met the client.
Carefully scrutinizing the man named Shinn? before him, Hyuga Kyo felt certain that this person matched the Shinn? in his past life’s memories, both in appearance and attire.
There was no doubt; that this man was a remnant of the Sky Ninjas and the future creator of “Zero-Tails.”
Understanding Shinn?’s true identity, Hyuga Kyo maintained a neutral expression as he introduced himself, “I’m Hyuga Kyo, a Chunin from Konoha and the team leader for your mission. This is my team member, Uchiha Itachi, a Genin from Konoha.”
The thirty-something Shinn? was very polite, bowing slightly, “I leave this journey in your capable hands.”
“We will do our best, but before we set off, I need to understand the situation,” Hyuga Kyo paused before asking, “You raised this mission to B-rank. There must be a reason for that, right? Who are your enemies?”
Shinn? looked a bit uneasy and coughed lightly, “Actually, they’re not enemies, just a small misunderstanding. When I was traveling in the Hidden Cloud Village, they coincidentally had a theft incident. They suspect I’m involved, but you know, I’m just a simple physician. How could I be related to such things?”
“Yeah, right!” Hyuga Kyo thought with a smirk, then mused, “This guy must be pretty skilled at stealing!”
The Hidden Cloud Village is a tough nut to crack, even for Konoha’s top spies. Stealing information, jutsu, or forbidden techniques from there is incredibly challenging. Yet this unassuming Shinn? managed to pull it off and escape unscathed. It was quite a feat.
Thinking that Shinn? might be useful in the future, Hyuga Kyo decided not to expose him. After some preparations, the trio set off towards the Land of Rice Fields.
As soon as they left the village, Hyuga Kyo noticed Itachi’s diligence. Whether it was selecting routes or campsites, everything Itachi did was meticulous and flawless.
On the road, Itachi frequently corrected errors on his map and recorded their daily travel in a journal, occasionally writing down insights and reflections.
Itachi’s presence saved Hyuga Kyo a lot of trouble.
Hyuga Kyo, too, kept busy. Using the unparalleled insight of his Tenseigan, he continuously observed Itachi and Shinn?, honing his own observational and predictive skills through their facial expressions and muscle movements.
Sensitive Itachi quickly noticed this but assumed Kyo was just assessing his abilities as a Genin, so he had no objections.
Shinn? also noticed but tried his best to hide it, maintaining a facade of ignorance while cheerfully talking about his travels.
After a few weeks of on-and-off travel, they finally reached the border between the Land of Fire and the Land of Rice Fields.
Seeing that it was getting late, Hyuga Kyo ordered, “Itachi, find a suitable campsite. We’ll rest well tonight and cross the border tomorrow.”
“Yes, sir!”
Itachi promptly responded, then leapt into the trees to scout for a suitable campsite.
Shinn?, standing nearby, commented with a smile, “Kyo and Itachi are indeed from prestigious clans!”
Waving his hand dismissively, Hyuga Kyo replied, “Names don’t matter. In the ninja world, strength speaks louder.”
Shinn? continued to smile, “I’ve met many ninjas during my travels, but few are as outstanding as you two. I’m sure it won’t be long before your names are known throughout the ninja world.”
Knowing Shinn?’s true nature, Hyuga Kyo ignored his flattery and steered the conversation towards medical topics.
It had to be acknowledged that Shinn? had significant expertise in medicine, especially in bandaging techniques, human meridians, and herbal pharmacology. He surpassed most ordinary physicians by a wide margin.
This was one reason he could disguise himself as a doctor and travel between countries; otherwise, he would have long been captured as a spy.
After finding a campsite with a clear view, the trio ate their rations while discussing human meridians. Mostly, Shinn? lectured while Hyuga Kyo and Itachi listened and learned.
For Hyuga Kyo, who grew up in the Hyuga clan, the human meridian system wasn’t mysterious. However, the clan’s knowledge was tailored for Gentle Fist, while Shinn?’s insights were geared towards medical purposes. The different perspectives deepened Hyuga Kyo’s understanding of meridians.
Itachi listened intently too, quickly filling several pages in his small notebook with notes.
Though the Uchiha clan wasn’t unfamiliar with meridians due to their Sharingan, they had no medical tradition related to them, making Shinn?’s knowledge particularly valuable.
Shinn? lectured earnestly, clearly with an ulterior motive. He saw great value in befriending the noble Konoha youths, hoping to gain allies for future activities in Konoha.
After a while, Hyuga Kyo abruptly asked, “So, what exactly was stolen from the Hidden Cloud Village? Why are they so fixated on you, a physician?”
“I have no idea! I swear, I had nothing to do with it!” Shinn? awkwardly laughed, then explained, “If not for an outbreak of plague in a village in the Land of Rice Fields and a plea from an old friend there, I wouldn’t be traveling at all right now.”
Realizing he couldn’t get useful information out of Shinn?, Hyuga Kyo said, “Alright, that’s enough for today. Let’s rest. We have a long journey ahead tomorrow.”
Upon hearing this, Itachi promptly set up warning tripwires with iron wires and bells around the campsite, then found a spot with a good vantage point in the trees to rest.
Watching Itachi skillfully set traps, Hyuga Kyo silently marvelled, “The Uchiha clan really excels at using ninja tools. Even at his young age, Itachi is adept at setting traps.”
