- Chapter 19 - The Secret Technique of Physical Regeneration
Hyuga Kyo had no knowledge of what transpired in the Hokage’s office. Having just completed an A-rank mission, he was walking home.
Long ago, Hyuga Kyo’s parents had died in the war. However, being part of the prestigious Hyuga clan, he received protection from his clan members and lived much better than other orphaned ninjas in the village.
At the very least, he owned a house left to him by his parents.
Returning home, Hyuga Kyo noticed the house was spotless, indicating that someone had been cleaning it while he was on his mission. The only person who would do this for him was Hyuga Rei, his fiancée.
The engagement was arranged while his parents were still alive, so after their deaths, Rei’s family took great care of him, treating him as part of their family.
After closing the door, Hyuga Kyo took out the scroll containing the physical regeneration secret technique he received from Orochimaru.
After studying it carefully, he barely understood its principles.
In simple terms, the technique used a very special method to stimulate the body’s cells with chakra, accelerating cell division to quickly heal wounds and rapidly restore chakra.
As for its effects, the technique lived up to its name of “physical regeneration” because it truly regenerated the body through accelerated cell division.
However, Hyuga Kyo knew that every person’s cells could only divide a limited number of times. Accelerating cell division would also accelerate the consumption of one’s lifespan. In other words, the more one used this technique, the sooner they would die.
“If it’s used only a few times in desperate situations, it could serve as a trump card!”
Reflecting on the technique’s drawbacks, Hyuga Kyo also thought of Orochimaru’s impending development of the “Living Corpse Reincarnation” technique and felt a jolt of realization.
“With the Living Corpse Reincarnation, Orochimaru can frequently replace his body, completely overcoming this technique’s drawbacks. No wonder he became nearly unkillable later, to the point where even Itachi could only try to seal him!”
The physical regeneration technique not only quickly healed injuries but also generated new chakra sources due to the creation of new cells. Therefore, if one could use the technique without concern, the user would be nearly invulnerable and possess an endless supply of chakra.
For most, this would be suicidal.
But for Orochimaru, who was about to develop the Living Corpse Reincarnation technique, using up one body only to replace it with another was not a significant issue.
Hyuga Kyo couldn’t help but admire Orochimaru.
Although he couldn’t use the technique recklessly, mastering another secret technique was never a bad thing. So, Hyuga Kyo quickly focused his mind and began learning the physical regeneration technique with full concentration.
Whether it was due to the changes in his body brought about by the Tenseigan or the increase in his chakra, Hyuga Kyo found himself learning new techniques much faster than before. Additionally, he was already well-versed in the knowledge of human meridians involved in the technique, so he quickly mastered the chakra flow and hand seals required for it.
Once he thoroughly grasped the technique, Hyuga Kyo did not hesitate and immediately destroyed the scroll containing the secret technique. Being cautious, he didn’t want to leave any evidence that could be used against him.
Having finished learning the technique, Hyuga Kyo began to reflect on the problems he encountered during the mission.
Whether it was the Revolving Heaven technique or the Third Kazekage puppet, they were all powerful but couldn’t be used openly. They couldn’t be part of his regular combat arsenal. If he had Konoha ninjas as companions during a mission, his combat options would become very limited.
This feeling of being constrained was starkly evident during his recent mission.
Therefore, Hyuga Kyo urgently needed a series of legitimate combat techniques for everyday use.
Given his identity as a member of the Hyuga clan, developing more and stronger combat techniques by furthering his mastery of Gentle Fist was undoubtedly the best choice for him.
“It’s time to try practicing the Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven!”
The principle of Revolving Heaven wasn’t complicated. Previously, he was limited by his insufficient chakra volume, so he had never successfully practised it. Now, Hyuga Kyo’s chakra volume far exceeded that of the young Hyuga Neji. Neji could comprehend Revolving Heaven on his own, so there was no reason Hyuga Kyo, who understood its principles and had sufficient chakra, couldn’t do the same.
The next day, Hyuga Kyo found a small forest far from the Hyuga clan grounds.
After confirming no one was around, he didn’t waste time and began practising.
There were two key aspects to mastering Revolving Heaven: controlling all the chakra points in one’s body and having a sufficient and stable chakra supply.
For Hyuga Kyo, these were not obstacles. After only a few attempts, he managed to create the rudiments of Revolving Heaven.
This further proved that Tenseigan’s changes to his body were not just reflected in his chakra volume but also in his insight, balance, chakra control, and sensory abilities, all of which had improved significantly.
Exhaling lightly, Hyuga Kyo wiped his sweat with a towel he had prepared in advance.
After a morning of rigorous training, he barely mastered Revolving Heaven.
Though there was still much room for improvement and refinement in its use, it was already practical for combat.
Having mastered both the physical regeneration secret technique and Revolving Heaven, Hyuga Kyo was in a good mood. After a short rest at noon, he headed back to the mission centre.
Like before, the mission centre was still quite empty, and the ninjas coming and going were mostly in a hurry.
Because he had once completed an A-rank mission, and with the mission centre overwhelmed by assignments, Hyuga Kyo was exceptionally granted the privilege to accept A-rank missions.
A-rank missions were generally commissions from government officials or large organizations and typically required at least a Special Jounin-level ninja to undertake.
With his body gradually adapting to the Tenseigan, Hyuga Kyo’s strength was growing daily. Now that he had also mastered the physical regeneration secret technique and Revolving Heaven, even without using the Revolving Heaven technique and the Third Kazekage puppet, his raw strength had reached the level of a Special Jounin. Therefore, he was capable of handling some of the less difficult A-rank missions.
Briefly browsing the list of A-rank missions, Hyuga Kyo frowned.
At the A-rank level, missions that allowed solo undertakings were very rare. Even if there were one or two, they were high-difficulty tasks like “assassination,” requiring a Jounin or even an Elite Jounin to confidently complete them.
At this moment, Hyuga Kyo realized that lacking a reliable teammate was a significant problem.
While he was pondering this issue, a green figure dashed into the mission centre…
