Naruto World Through Tenseigan - Chapter 2
According to the vague memories of his previous life, the Tenseigan is an upgraded version of the Byakugan, a powerful force that rivals the Rinnegan.
There are two methods to evolve the Tenseigan, as Hyuga Kyo knows.
The first method is like Otsutsuki Toneri’s, combining the bloodline from the branch on the moon with the main branch of the Hyuga clan on Earth to evolve the Tenseigan.
The second method involves merging a large number of Byakugan.
Hyuga Kyo immediately ruled out the first method since he was not from the main branch and had no access to the Byakugan of the Otsutsuki clan on the moon. As for the second method, due to the “Caged Bird” seal, the Byakugan of the branch family would be destroyed instantly upon death or removal, making it impossible to gather enough Byakugan solely from the main branch.
Both methods seemed unfeasible at first, but with the second method, Hyuga Kyo conceived a new idea.
Whether it’s the Byakugan or the Sharingan, all Kekkei Genkai are essentially genetic manifestations. If gathering enough Byakugan is impossible, what if he approached it from a genetic standpoint? By collecting and merging a large number of the Hyuga clan’s genes, could he evolve the Byakugan into the Tenseigan from the genetic level?
Based on this bold hypothesis, Hyuga Kyo focused on learning genetic technology from Orochimaru.
Through continuous learning and observation, Hyuga Kyo made a stunning discovery: all members of the Hyuga clan have 33 sets of particular gene sequences.
Further observation revealed that different members had different numbers of these 33 particular gene sequences in an active state.
For Hyuga Kyo himself, only sequences 17-33 were active, while sequences 1-16 were inactive. The other Hyuga clan members he studied had similar patterns, with only some of the 33 particular gene sequences being active.
This discovery further supported Hyuga Kyo’s hypothesis.
He even suspected that if all 33 particular gene sequences could be activated, every Hyuga clan member could evolve their Byakugan into the Tenseigan.
This thought quickly consumed Hyuga Kyo’s mind.
Thanks to the war, Hyuga Kyo, stationed at a battlefield hospital by Orochimaru, easily collected a large number of Hyuga clan genes. After screening and comparing over a hundred gene samples, he successfully extracted the active sequences of sets 4-16.
Including the active sequences of sets 17-33 in his own body, Hyuga Kyo needed more active sequences of sets 1-3.
He had collected plenty of branch family genes, but none had the active sequences of sets 1-3, so naturally, he turned his attention to the prominent family.
However, the prominent family rarely went to the battlefield, and even when they did, they were heavily protected, making it impossible for a ninja of Hyuga Kyo’s level to access them easily. As a result, he had not been able to obtain any primary family gene samples.
He had no choice but to ask Orochimaru for help.
Orochimaru accepted him, but even for one of the legendary Sannin like Orochimaru, stealing the prominent family’s genes was a challenging task.
The matter dragged on for over a year, forcing the experiment to be halted.
Despite his frustration, Hyuga Kyo knew that as a small, struggling individual, he could only rely on himself to find opportunities and couldn’t wait for miracles to happen.
Just when Hyuga Kyo was planning to target the soon-to-be-born Hinata, a new primary family member, Orochimaru unexpectedly brought him a piece of the prominent family’s tissue before his departure.
As he processed the tissue, Hyuga Kyo pondered, “Orochimaru’s defection should happen within these few days. But not only did he not take me with him, he even provided me with the crucial experimental material I needed before leaving. What is his intention? To keep me in the village as his spy?”
Judging by Orochimaru’s recent behaviour and Hyuga Kyo’s vague memories from his previous life, it was clear that Orochimaru’s interest in the Byakugan had waned. This time, Orochimaru provided the necessary experimental material not for Byakugan research but to placate him.
Thinking about it, Hyuga Kyo scoffed internally, “The ‘Caged Bird’ seal does have its benefits after all!”
Undoubtedly, Orochimaru’s decision to leave Hyuga Kyo in the village was primarily due to the ‘Caged Bird’ seal on his forehead. The branch family members had no right to defect; if they tried, the ‘Caged Bird’ seal would immediately take care of them. Orochimaru had no interest in taking a useless corpse with him.
As the experiment progressed, Hyuga Kyo cleared his mind of distractions and focused on his work.
The primary family tissue provided by Orochimaru was very fresh. If Hyuga Kyo guessed correctly, it was likely from the clan leader, Hyuga Hiashi, whose genes were the most desirable to him at the moment.
Because the tissue was so fresh, the gene extraction process went exceptionally smoothly. Upon comparison, he was surprised to find that Hyuga Hiashi’s 33 particular gene sequences had 28 in an active state, including the much-needed sequences 1-3.
“28 active special gene sequences… as expected of the clan leader!”
Reflecting on Hyuga Hiashi’s near-Kage-level strength, Hyuga Kyo felt reassured.
In his prime, Hyuga Hiashi was undoubtedly the top strongman of the Hyuga clan. It was only natural for such a strong individual to possess the best genes in the clan.
Pushing aside his emotions, Hyuga Kyo focused intently on extracting the 1-3 sequences for which he had longed.
Now, Hyuga Kyo had gathered all 1-16 active particular gene sequences.
“Whether I can defy fate depends on this moment!”
Joy, anticipation, anxiety, and hesitation all surged within him, leaving Hyuga Kyo momentarily dazed.
He wanted to shout to the heavens and release the years of pent-up frustration and fear, but the one-eyed viper on his shoulder kept him grounded.
After taking a deep breath, Hyuga Kyo collected his emotions.
Next, he quietly stored the extracted gene liquid in a small thermos flask and then took out a scroll, sealing the flask within it.
Orochimaru’s defection would undoubtedly cause a commotion in the village.
To ensure he wasn’t implicated, Hyuga Kyo had many loose ends to tie up. The first was his laboratory. He needed to erase all traces of his presence, even the evidence of his experiments, to prevent the village from discovering and capturing him or uncovering his extraordinary gene sequence fusion experiment.
