Naruto World Through Tenseigan - Chapter 28
From the feedback of the chakra, Kurenai felt that Hyuga Kyo had broken her genjutsu.
This result shocked her!
According to common sense, even if an enemy could break a genjutsu, they would still need a process to do so.
This process could involve forming hand seals to manipulate chakra and stimulate themselves, or self-inflicted pain to disrupt the genjutsu. In any case, this process was almost inevitable.
But Hyuga Kyo did nothing and broke her genjutsu, which overturned her understanding of genjutsu.
On the field, Hyuga Kyo also had some realizations.
Undoubtedly, the Tenseigan had a strong resistance to genjutsu. For ordinary genjutsu, he didn’t need to do anything; the Tenseigan could passively remove the influence of the genjutsu on him.
And the entire process took only a moment!
The match continued. Suppressing the joy in his heart, Hyuga Kyo advised Kurenai, “A piece of advice for you: don’t easily use genjutsu when facing a dojutsu user.”
Kurenai glared at Hyuga Kyo, “Why is my genjutsu ineffective? How did you do it?”
Kurenai’s loud questioning attracted a lot of attention. Many of the Chunin who hadn’t yet taken their turns focused their eyes on Hyuga Kyo and Kurenai’s match.
Seeing the number of spectators, Hyuga Kyo thought this was a good opportunity to establish a strong image, so he calmly said, “For a dojutsu user, ordinary genjutsu is meaningless. That’s why I said your luck is bad because your genjutsu is completely ineffective against me.”
Kurenai was not someone who would give up easily. She snorted and then formed hand seals again, softly chanting, “Genjutsu: Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death!”
Whoosh…
It was as if a gentle breeze had swept through Practice Ground No. 9.
Kurenai’s lips curled into a slight smile, “You’ve fallen for it!”
With that, she lowered her stance, rushing at the seemingly immobilized Hyuga Kyo, who appeared trapped in a genjutsu.
However, just as the observing Chunin thought Kurenai had succeeded, Hyuga Kyo suddenly and without warning raised his right arm, perfectly blocking Kurenai’s attack path.
“You!?”
Kurenai froze as her seemingly assured strike was blocked.
Without even turning his head, Hyuga Kyo merely pivoted and kicked Kurenai away.
“It seems you still don’t understand. Disruption-type genjutsu is also ineffective against me.”
Hyuga Kyo spoke slowly and calmly as if stating an obvious fact.
Kurenai, looking dejected, stood up from the ground and asked in a daze, “How… how can this be!?”
Genjutsu was the specialty of the Yuhi clan and Kurenai’s pride. But today, this pride was shattered by the harsh reality.
Not just Kurenai, but the observing Chunin were either shocked or astonished, and even Uchiha Shisui, who had just won his match, took notice.
Hyuga Kyo knew that Kurenai had recently lost her father in the Nine-Tails attack and didn’t want to push her too hard. But he realized that the inherent disadvantage genjutsu users faced against dojutsu wielders was an undeniable fact.
It was better for Kurenai to understand this sooner rather than later, even if it was harsh.
“Someone would make you realize this sooner or later. It’s better for me to tell you than an enemy,” he said, maintaining his cold tone.
Kurenai stared at Hyuga Kyo, “Can your eyes really see through everything?”
Hyuga Kyo shrugged, not answering.
Recalling how Kurenai was later effortlessly defeated by Itachi, he kindly warned, “If you encounter a dojutsu user truly proficient in genjutsu, remember not to overly rely on genjutsu, or the consequences could be dire.”
Kurenai nodded solemnly and decisively conceded the match.
Though she lost this fight, it wasn’t without gain. On the contrary, this battle helped her recognize her weaknesses and understand which type of ninja could counter her effectively.
From a distance, on the observation platform.
The Third Hokage watched the scene, pondering for a while. He then instructed the ANBU beside him, “Arrange for Hyuga Kyo to face Uchiha Shisui in the final round.”
The ANBU seemed excited about the match between the Sharingan and the Byakugan and nodded, “Yes, I’ll arrange it immediately.”
As expected, Hyuga Kyo won his next two matches, qualifying for the final round.
At this point, only thirty Chunin remained in the arena.
Among these thirty, the only familiar faces to Hyuga Kyo were Guy, Asuma, and Uchiha Shisui. The other peers from his class had all been eliminated in previous rounds.
Asuma was not surprised by Hyuga Kyo and Shisui’s winning streaks, but he was astonished that the usually lagging Guy had also won three matches. He marveled, “Guy, you’ve improved a lot!”
Guy struck his signature pose, showing off his gleaming white teeth and laughing, “Haha, I’m the Green Beast of Konoha!”
Seeing the other winners looking at him, Asuma awkwardly waved his hands, “Don’t look at me like that. I don’t know him. I really don’t know him!”
At this moment, the Third Hokage, puffing on his pipe, walked over.
All the Chunin promptly saluted the Hokage.
The Third Hokage smiled, “You are the best Chunin in the village. As Hokage, I’m proud of you. However, the slots for Special Jonin are limited, and you still need to undergo the final round of assessments.”
The participants exchanged glances, their faces growing solemn.
Having reached this stage of the selection, the remaining thirty were among the elite Chunin. None of them could confidently claim to defeat the others, so the final round would undoubtedly be a fierce competition.
“Ahem…”
After clearing his throat, the Third Hokage announced, “Let’s start the final round of draws.”
The results came out quickly, revealing the first match of the final round: Hyuga Kyo vs. Uchiha Shisui!
Hyuga Kyo was not surprised by the result. He never believed in the randomness of draws. To him, manipulating the draw was a necessary skill for any leader, beyond reproach.
Shisui, after a brief moment of surprise, regained his composure.
Unlike the calmness of Hyuga Kyo and Shisui, the others were immediately intrigued by the matchup.
The question of whether the Sharingan or the Byakugan was stronger had always been a hot topic in the village, so the duel between Hyuga Kyo and Shisui was highly anticipated.
Without prompting, Hyuga Kyo lightly leaped onto Arena No. 1.
Looking at Shisui, who was slowly stepping into the arena, he said, “I’m curious to see how strong the latest genius of the Uchiha clan is. Don’t let me down.”
