Naruto World Through Tenseigan - Chapter 62
Late at night, in the valley.
A cool breeze swept through, making the two Kumogakure ninjas on watch instinctively tighten their robes.
One suddenly asked, “Hey, did you hear something?”
The other listened intently for a moment, then shook his head, “Just the sounds of insects and birds. Why, did you hear something else?”
At that moment, a shadow suddenly darted into the guard post, pouncing on the two Kumogakure ninjas with lightning speed.
“Who’s there!?”
The two Kumogakure ninjas only had time to let out a startled cry before they fell under the cold flash of a blade.
After checking their breathing and heartbeats to confirm their deaths, the shadow slowly stood up, his gaze fixed on the secret warehouse at the far end of the valley.
The moonlight revealed the figure to be none other than Hyuga Kyo, responsible for luring away the outer guards of Kumogakure.
Upon infiltrating the valley, he found that Kumogakure had set up a highly stringent defense, with guard posts every ten paces and sentries every five.
Such tight security made Hyuga Kyo suspect that Kumogakure must be stockpiling a significant amount of supplies here.
However, after carefully observing his Tenseigan for a while, his frown deepened.
Just the visible guards in the valley numbered at least one hundred fifty to sixty. Considering the hidden guards, there were at least two hundred Kumogakure ninjas in the valley.
This situation was far beyond Hyuga Kyo’s expectations.
Team 11 had speculated that there would be fifty to a hundred enemies in the valley, and their tactics were designed based on this assumption.
Suddenly, there was a commotion from another direction.
Amidst the noise, shouts and sounds of fighting could be heard, echoing loudly in the quiet valley!
Hyuga Kyo looked in the direction of the commotion and murmured, “That direction should be Gai. Did he get discovered so quickly?”
Team 11’s battle plan was straightforward.
First, Hyuga Kyo, Shisui, and Gai would infiltrate the valley, silently taking out the outer Kumogakure ninjas. If discovered, they would retreat immediately, drawing away some guards to thin out the forces around the secret warehouse.
Then, Captain Kakashi would launch the final assault, heading straight for the secret warehouse at the deepest part of the valley.
Finally, after destroying the warehouse, Team 11 would regroup at a predetermined rendezvous point and return to Konoha together.
However, the plan’s premise was that there were a hundred enemies or fewer. From the current situation, this premise was invalid, giving Hyuga Kyo a bad feeling.
Soon, the noise gradually receded.
It was evident that Gai, having been exposed, was following the plan to draw away some Kumogakure ninjas.
But Gai’s exposure also heightened the alertness of the Kumogakure ninjas in the valley. Teams of Kumogakure ninjas spread out, meticulously searching every inch of the valley.
Seeing the Kumogakure ninjas getting closer, Hyuga Kyo didn’t hesitate. He quickly threw a dozen kunai wrapped with explosive tags.
Boom, boom, boom…
A series of explosions erupted in the valley.
Using the cover of night and the dust from the explosions, Hyuga Kyo, wielding the Grass S-Maru, darted like a ghost toward the panicked Kumogakure ninjas.
“Who is it!?”
“Where…?”
“Enemy attack, enemy attack!”
With his blade flashing, Hyuga Kyo reaped the lives of the Kumogakure ninjas under the cover of the dust, taking down three or four in the blink of an eye.
“Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!”
One of the leading Kumogakure chunin quickly reacted, using Wind Release to disperse the smoke and dust caused by the explosive tags.
Without the cover of the dust, Hyuga Kyo’s figure was revealed to the Kumogakure ninjas.
The leading chunin shouted, “It’s a Konoha Anbu, be careful!”
This group of Kumogakure search parties, composed of chunin and genin, began sending signals to their base in the valley while surrounding Hyuga Kyo.
According to the plan, Hyuga Kyo should be retreating at this point.
However, the number of Kumogakure guards in the valley far exceeded expectations, forcing him to stay and draw away more Kumogakure ninjas. Otherwise, Kakashi wouldn’t be able to get through the layers of defenses to reach the secret warehouse.
In another direction, Shisui also launched his attack.
Activating his Body Flicker Technique, he swiftly took down a Kumogakure four-man squad. Then, pretending to charge toward the secret warehouse deep in the valley.
Along the way, Shisui didn’t engage the enemies for long, easily leaving many Kumogakure ninjas behind. However, as he neared the secret warehouse, he was intercepted by a group of Kumogakure jonin.
With Hyuga Kyo and Shisui’s fierce assaults, the entire valley became chaotic, filled with explosions, shouts, cries of pain, and calls for help.
Hidden in the shadows, Kakashi silently observed everything. It was not yet his time to strike.
Soon, Hyuga Kyo and Shisui were forced to retreat from the valley.
However, the Kumogakure ninjas didn’t intend to let them go. Almost simultaneously, two squads of pursuers were sent after them.
“Gai lured away eight, Kyo lured away sixteen, Shisui lured away twelve…”
Hiding in the shadows, Kakashi kept a mental count of the enemies his teammates had drawn away while observing the changes in the Kumogakure’s defenses after being attacked.
Adding up the enemies killed and drawn away by his teammates, they had dealt with over fifty enemies, nearly fourteen squads. By any measure, this was a commendable outcome.
The fact that the number of enemies far exceeded expectations didn’t deter Kakashi.
On the contrary, it strengthened his resolve to assault the secret warehouse. Such stringent defenses indicated the importance of the supplies stored here.
“It’s time!”
Taking a deep breath, Kakashi made a series of hand seals: Rat, Horse, Monkey, Horse, Hare.
Zzz…
Suddenly, a sharp, piercing chirping sound echoed!
Accompanied by the cry of the Chidori, Kakashi, bathed in lightning, charged towards the depths of the valley…
While retreating, Hyuga Kyo heard the familiar sound of the Chidori, knowing that Kakashi had launched the final assault.
He looked back at the sixteen Kumogakure pursuers behind him, which included four squads with at least two jonin and no fewer than four chunin.
“I can’t lead these guys to the rendezvous point; I must take them out!”
With that decision made, Hyuga Kyo stopped in a clearing and slowly drew the Grass S-Maru from his waist.
The Kumogakure pursuers immediately spread out, surrounding him. One of the leading jonin chuckled, “You’re just a kid, but you have some guts to infiltrate here!”
