Naruto World Through Tenseigan - Chapter 7
In his heart, Hyuga Kyo had come to a realisation.
From the conversation between Mitsui Nakaji and Anko, he roughly deduced that the so-called “special mission” given to Ota and Anko was likely to make contact with a spy the village had planted among the Sand Shinobi.
But why would the village assign such a secret mission to two Chunin who are still undergoing scrutiny?
Logically and practically, it made no sense.
So Anko’s intuition was correct; this so-called “special mission” was a trap. The village may have abandoned them, the former subordinates of Orochimaru, intending to eliminate them one by one through legitimate means.
“Was it Danzo? The Third Hokage? Or the Fourth?”
Hyuga Kyo’s first suspect was Danzo. Orochimaru’s early defection was full of intrigue, and it was difficult to determine what role Danzo played. But there was no doubt that Danzo was the biggest beneficiary of the defection. By the logic of who benefits most, Danzo was likely the mastermind behind Orochimaru’s early defection.
Danzo and Orochimaru might have completely fallen out, making it reasonable for Danzo to eliminate Orochimaru’s former subordinates who refused to join Root.
The Third Hokage couldn’t be ruled out either. He was known to do many incomprehensible things for the sake of so-called stability. This was evident from how he stood by and watched the suicide of White Fang, pressured the Hyuga clan, leading to Hyuga Hizashi’s death to avoid conflict with the Cloud Village, and allowed Naruto to grow up amid the village’s discrimination and insults.
As for the Fourth Hokage, Hyuga Kyo didn’t think it was his doing.
It wasn’t that he had blind faith in the Fourth’s character. As a ninja from a civilian background, the Fourth lacked the support of his own clan, and the Third hadn’t entirely relinquished power. Therefore, the Fourth should have needed more influence to orchestrate such manoeuvres.
Moreover, given the Fourth’s age advantage, there was no urgent need for him to purge dissenters in the village hastily.
Regardless of who was orchestrating this purge, Hyuga Kyo knew he had become their target, and danger was looming.
As time passed, a week after Anko’s ambush, Hyuga Kyo finally completed the adaptation period for his Tenseigan.
The dizziness and pain completely disappeared, replaced by enhanced vision.
The Tenseigan retained some of the Byakugan’s abilities and far surpassed them in subtle insight.
Even with ordinary observation, Hyuga Kyo could predict the opponent’s next move by observing the flow of chakra and muscle movements.
Aside from the enhanced insight, the other significant change was his chakra levels.
Conservatively estimated, Hyuga Kyo guessed that his chakra levels were now 40 to 50 times what they were before the gene injection, surpassing those of a typical Jonin.
Additionally, he sensed that his body had awakened some other abilities, but he couldn’t explore them fully while under the constant surveillance of Captain Mitsui Nakaji at the outpost.
Suppressing his excitement, Hyuga Kyo finally got a chance to patrol alone a few days later.
“Ha!”
With a light shout, the distant yellow sand surged towards Hyuga Kyo’s outstretched right hand like a flood bursting through a dam!
With a thought, the sand, as if hitting a hurricane, was blown far away!
Watching the sand respond to his command and then scatter, Hyuga Kyo, standing in the remote desert, couldn’t help but smile.
This move combined Pain’s Shinra Tensei and Bansho Ten’in, based on the principles of repulsion and attraction. In Hyuga Kyo’s vague memories from his past life, Otsutsuki Toneri on the moon had also used this move.
“Since this is a Tenseigan ability, I’ll call it ‘Revolving Wish!'”
After trying Revolving Wish a few more times, Hyuga Kyo noticed its shortcomings. Its effective range was only about 15 meters, and the farther the distance, the weaker the effect.
Panting slightly, Hyuga Kyo frowned.
Most C-rank or higher attack ninjutsu had a range exceeding 20 meters, some even reaching 50 meters. Expert weapon throwers could easily exceed 20 meters with kunai or shuriken.
In other words, if an enemy kept their distance, Hyuga Kyo’s Revolving Wish would only serve as a defensive or disruptive measure.
Setting aside the tiny range issue, Hyuga Kyo, still panting, realised another shortcoming: his chakra levels.
Increasing his chakra by 40 to 50 times had initially thrilled him. But after using Revolving Wish multiple times, he was shocked to find his chakra insufficient.
Only then did Hyuga Kyo realise.
The substantial increase in chakra had skewed his judgment, leading him to overestimate his chakra reserves.
In reality, because his previous chakra levels were at a standard Genin level—quite mediocre—even with a 40 to 50 times increase, the total amount wasn’t particularly extraordinary, just surpassing that of an average Jonin.
It was far from the imagined ability to freely use ninjutsu and incomparable to Otsutsuki Toneri, who treated the moon like a toy with his Tenseigan.
Hyuga Kyo had always considered Otsutsuki Toneri as his benchmark, but reality had given him a harsh lesson.
“Why is this happening?”
“Where did it go wrong?”
“Did I use the wrong method to evolve my Tenseigan?”
Questions flooded Hyuga Kyo’s mind.
After being puzzled, anxious, and even panicked for a long time, he finally calmed down and found that all his previous doubts were quickly resolved with a different perspective.
In his past life memories, only Otsutsuki Toneri possessed the Tenseigan, so Hyuga Kyo subconsciously believed that having the Tenseigan would grant him the same power as Otsutsuki Toneri.
But upon reflection, Kekkei Genkai varies from person to person!
Even among the Hyuga clan, many of Hyuga Kyo’s peers were more potent than him, and among the Uchiha clan, most were like fodder compared to Madara.
Otsutsuki Toneri was the last descendant of the moon’s branch of the Otsutsuki clan, a true genius who inherited all of Hamura Otsutsuki’s legacy on the moon. Even without the Tenseigan, his power was at the Kage level!
Such a person couldn’t be compared to a mere Genin like Hyuga Kyo.
For Otsutsuki Toneri, reaching the super-Kage level after obtaining the Tenseigan was a natural progression.
But for Hyuga Kyo, who wasn’t even starting from the same baseline, hoping to reach Otsutsuki Toneri’s super-Kage level with just the Tenseigan was unrealistic.
With this realisation, Hyuga Kyo tried some other Tenseigan abilities he remembered Otsutsuki Toneri using, but he couldn’t enter the Tenseigan Chakra Mode. As for Toneri’s ability to slice the moon or use the Truth-Seeking Balls, those were even more out of reach.
“Hmm, does entering the Tenseigan Chakra Mode require hand seals?”
