- Chapter 107 - Might Guy's Powerful Strike (35)
Another five days passed, and Might Guy still hadn’t found the so-called feeling.
On Wednesday, Might Guy, Shisui, and Obito gathered to discuss their breathing technique training.
“Guy, you can try imagining the feeling of eating ramen, with the warm steam entering your stomach,” Obito tried to share his successful experience with Might Guy.
“Guy, you should take Obito’s words as a reference but stick to what Mokutsuki-sensei taught. Although both are breathing techniques, there must be significant differences,” Shisui said.
If the two breathing techniques were similar, Mokutsuki would have had them learn just one instead of separating their training.
“Yes, Mokutsuki-sensei said my progress is normal. Rock Breathing is harder than the breathing techniques you two are learning,” Might Guy nodded.
His mindset was actually excellent; it had only been ten days.
When he was learning the Clone Technique, it took him until almost the end of his second year to produce a clone identical to himself that could move.
That took nearly three years, and he never thought about giving up. Ten days was nothing.
Even if it took a thousand days, as long as Mokutsuki didn’t tell him to train in something else, he would continue. He believed that persistent effort would definitely lead to success.
After all, he was recognized by Mokutsuki as a hardworking genius!
“Hehe, Guy, you better work hard. In three days, during the final combat test, I won’t go easy on you just because your breathing technique is harder,” Obito grinned.
They were nearing the end of summer training, which would end on Friday. The final combat test will be on Saturday.
Even if he hadn’t fully mastered the breathing technique, it still enhanced his abilities. With a breathing technique in hand, Might Guy wouldn’t be his match.
There was no need for strategic tricks with the Clone Technique; he would win with sheer strength.
“Haha, youth should be about giving it your all in battle,” Might Guy said, flashing his bright white teeth and giving Obito a thumbs up.
If Obito held back, Might Guy wouldn’t be happy. He believed that giving it your all in battle was true youth.
After finishing the afternoon training, Might Guy returned home.
Seeing Might Guy drenched in sweat, Might Dai laughed heartily and said, “Guy, you’ve been training hard again today!”
“Wait at home; I’ll buy some meat to cook for you. It’s important to eat well while you’re growing.”
“Just buy some cheap vegetables. We probably don’t have much money left,” Might Guy couldn’t help but say.
Might Dai was only a Genin, with no one willing to team up with him, and D-rank missions weren’t always available, so that he couldn’t earn much money.
Although Might Guy didn’t know his father’s exact work situation, he knew their financial condition was poor.
“That’s not your concern, Guy. You just need to focus on training,” Might Dai said, giving Might Guy a thumbs up with a smile.
With that, Might Dai went out to buy groceries.
Might Guy thought for a moment and decided to follow him.
If they were really short on money, he would persuade Might Dai to buy cheaper vegetables.
Might Guy followed Might Dai to the market.
At the market, Might Dai headed straight to a meat shop.
“How much is the meat per pound?” Might Dai asked.
The butcher stood up, looked at Might Dai, and replied, “One hundred ry? per pound.”
Then the butcher picked up a knife and asked, “How many pounds do you want?”
Instead of saying how much he wanted, Might Dai haggled, “It’s late, and your meat isn’t fresh anymore. One hundred ry? is too expensive.”
“I’ll give you a discount, ninety-seven ry? per pound,” the butcher thought for a moment and said.
“Only three ry? off? That’s too little. I’ll check other shops,” Might Dai said, pretending to leave.
“Alright, alright. How about ninety-three ry? per pound?” the butcher quickly stopped him.
“Eighty ry? per pound,” Might Dai shook his head.
“Twenty ry? off at once? That’s too much,” the butcher said, looking reluctant.
Might Dai immediately turn to leave again?
“Alright, alright, eighty ry? per pound, but that’s the lowest. Any lower, and I’ll be at a loss,” the butcher said, stopping him again.
“Fine, give me forty ry?’s worth of meat,” Might Dai said with a victorious smile.
“Only forty ry??” The butcher was stunned for a moment.
“I’ve never seen such a stingy ninja who haggles like you,” the butcher couldn’t help but say. Ninjas usually buy several pounds of meat because of their high physical activity and appetite.
“Thanks for the compliment!” Might Dai give the butcher a thumbs up with a smile?
“Eternal Genin is eternal Genin, wasting so much time to buy a little meat,” said two passing ninjas with disdain.
“A ninja like him, no one would want to hire him for a mission,” said a tall, thin ninja with a laugh.
“Being bad at ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu is one thing, but behaving so strangely is another. I wouldn’t hire someone like that either,” agreed a chubby ninja.
Might Dai just smiled and gave them a thumbs up, then walked home to cook for his son.
Might Dai didn’t care, but Might Guy, who had been hiding, was already angry.
He remembered three years ago when he was with Might Dai on the street, they were also ridiculed. Might Guy, angry, tried to defend his father but ended up getting beaten. Kakashi saved him.
Facing a similar situation again, Might Guy didn’t know if he could beat the two official ninjas or if Kakashi would appear again, but he knew he had to act.
The forty ry?’s worth of meat Might Dai bought would all go to Might Guy. Might Dai wouldn’t eat any of it himself.
Might Guy couldn’t tolerate others insulting his father, who had raised him this way.
He followed the two ninjas out of the market to a street.
“Three sentences,” Might Guy said to the two ninjas with a stern face.
The tall, thin ninja turned and saw Might Guy, wearing the same tight outfit as Might Dai, and said:
“Kid, what’s with the three sentences? You and your father are both weird.”
“This kid goes to the ninja academy, right? Isn’t he a dead last?” the chubby ninja laughed.
“Isn’t that fitting? Eternal Genin and his dead-last son,” they both laughed.
“I have a rule: if someone insults my father, I owe them five punches. You insulted him twice more, so that’s five sentences now,” Might Guy said, holding up five fingers.
“Kid, leave while I’m in a good mood. Do you really think you can hit us five times?” the tall, thin ninja said disdainfully.
An academy kid daring to talk big to official ninjas.
Might Guy answer with his feet?
