- Chapter 113 - Shisui's Astonishing Strength (45)
As Mokutsuki walked, he introduced the levels of Group A students.
“Group A students completed chakra control training within the first two weeks of special training. During the training, we mainly focused on enhancing chakra control ability, learning the Body Flicker Technique, strengthening taijutsu, and improving ninjutsu skills.”
“Group A progressed the fastest and has the strongest students among all groups. The group is composed mainly of fourth-year students and Genin, followed by third-year and first-year students.”
“First-year students? How can a first-year student reach this level?” a teacher couldn’t help but ask.
Students who could control chakra for tree climbing and water walking and who had mastered the Body Flicker Technique were strong even among Genin. How could a first-year student achieve that?
“That first-year student must be Uchiha Shisui from Mokutsuki-sensei’s class. If it’s him, it’s possible,” Ayaka Ueda said.
Aside from Shisui, she couldn’t think of any other first-year student capable of such feats.
Mokutsuki nodded.
Although Shisui was well-known as a genius at the Ninja Academy, some Chunin teachers still doubted that a first-year student could reach such a level.
They believed that even the top students in the second year wouldn’t be able to achieve this.
Had it not been for Mokutsuki’s good reputation, some might have suspected favoritism in placing Shisui in Group A.
Hiruzen Sarutobi just smiled and didn’t comment.
He didn’t know Shisui’s current strength, but based on Shisui’s previous victory over Asuma, he certainly belonged in Group A.
“Contestant 17, Uchiha Shisui, and Contestant 18, Ayatsuji Raido, prepare for battle.”
Mokutsuki and the others arrived just in time to witness Shisui’s match.
“Raido, huh? I taught him before he graduated. He was an excellent student,” said the teacher, who doubted a first-year student’s abilities, smiling.
He felt proud of his former student. Opportunities to showcase skills in front of the Hokage were rare.
Raido had no idea his former teacher was already celebrating. Upon hearing his opponent’s name, he felt a headache.
There was no doubt—he was going to lose this match. Raido had no confidence in defeating Shisui.
However, Raido didn’t intend to give up. If he was going to lose, he wanted to go down with a fight.
Taking a deep breath, Raido walked to the battle area with a relaxed expression and exchanged signs of opposition with Shisui.
Having accepted the outcome, Raido just needed to give his best effort.
“Look at Raido’s confident expression. He must be very sure of himself,” the Chunin teacher said, more impressed with his former student.
Nearby teachers nodded in agreement.
Most believed in Mokutsuki’s reputation and trusted that Shisui belonged in Group A, but they didn’t think Shisui could beat Raido.
One was a first-year student who had only completed one semester, and the other was a graduated Genin who had trained for some time—there seemed to be no contest.
Mokutsuki smiled gently, not saying much. There was no need; Shisui’s performance would speak for itself.
Hiruzen, stroking his beard, also looked forward to the teachers’ reactions when Raido lost.
“Begin!” Mokutsuki announced.
As soon as the word left Mokutsuki’s mouth, Raido used the Body Flicker Technique, charging at Shisui with a kunai.
Knowing Shisui’s strength, he skipped any probing attacks and went all out from the start.
“This kid Raido still hasn’t learned to hold back,” the Chunin teacher commented as Raido gave Shisui no chance to react, shaking his head.
But then something surprising happened. Shisui vanished at the last moment, and Raido’s kunai hit nothing but air.
Raido wasn’t disappointed; he expected Shisui to dodge. Without hesitation, he threw a kunai behind him.
Shisui paused his attack, slightly shifting to avoid the flying kunai.
“He’s faster than Raido!” the Chunin teacher exclaimed, shocked.
Raido then pulled out a handful of shuriken and threw them at Shisui, quickly forming hand signs to create four shadow clones. The clones and the real Raido moved through the trees, switching places constantly.
“Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu!” Shisui dodged the shuriken and began his ninjutsu.
First, he spat out an enormous flame, then quickly threw shuriken into it. The flaming shuriken turned into small fireballs, shooting towards the trees where Raido and his clones were.
Boom! Boom!
The flaming shuriken struck the trees, causing them to collapse, dispersing Raido’s clones. The real Raido, though unharmed, fell to the ground.
“Is this really a first-year student?” many Chunin teachers were stunned by the destructive power of Shisui’s Fire Style.
It wasn’t just a first-year student; even a recently graduated Genin couldn’t perform such a Fire Style.
“Raido still has a chance. Ninja strength isn’t just about ninjutsu; taijutsu is equally important,” Raido’s teacher thought.
If Shisui was this strong in ninjutsu, his taijutsu couldn’t be that good. Raido’s specialty was taijutsu.
Shisui didn’t use any more ninjutsu and rushed towards Raido.
Raido had no time to retreat and quickly got up to engage in close combat.
Though Raido looked much taller and more muscular in taijutsu combat, he was quickly overwhelmed by Shisui’s superior speed and skill.
Raido’s teacher rubbed his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing. After confirming he wasn’t mistaken, he could only accept the reality.
“Uchiha Shisui wins.” Raido couldn’t withstand Shisui’s high-intensity attacks and quickly lost. Mokutsuki announced the victory.
The teachers fell into stunned silence, their faces filled with disbelief.
They began to wonder if Shisui had been training since birth. His strength was far beyond what was expected of a first-year student.
“Shisui is the most diligent student in Class 1-A,” Mokutsuki said softly.
While other students trained all day only during the special training, Shisui had been training day and night in the Southern Forest long before, continuing his intense regimen during the special training.
“You should all learn from Mokutsuki and create more teaching miracles,” Hiruzen said, smiling at the stunned teachers.
“Contestant 19, Sarutobi Asuma, and Contestant 20, Uchiha Obito, prepare for battle.”
