Ninja School Teacher, I Can Become Stronger by Teaching - Chapter 44
“Excellent, thanks to Contestant Number One for their Clone Jutsu performance. They scored eight points.”
“Next, let’s welcome Contestant Number Two to the stage.”
“Teacher Mokutsuki, why did we come to watch this competition? It feels like a waste of time. Hardly any real ninja participates,” Asuma complained as soon as he saw the awkward Clone Jutsu performance on stage.
Mokutsuki laughed gently, “Asuma, did you forget your fight with Shisui? Never underestimate anyone.”
Asuma fell silent. If it hadn’t been for Mokutsuki’s timely reassurance, his fight with Uchiha Shisui might have left him feeling defeated for a long time.
“Knowing the abilities of your peers in the village is never a bad thing,” Mokutsuki said, casually offering some wisdom.
Mostly, he was worried Obito might mess up and felt more assured being there.
Asuma glanced around and recognized a few familiar faces.
“Kakashi’s here too? If he competes, that’d be unfair,” Asuma said, spotting Kakashi among the crowd.
Asuma knew how formidable Kakashi was—a genius who graduated at five and became a Chunin at six. While others were still learning basic jutsus, Kakashi had already moved on to advanced techniques and chakra nature transformation.
Besides Kakashi, Asuma also noticed Uchiha Shisui, who had defeated him before.
Asuma was looking forward to seeing Shisui and Kakashi compete against each other. Let the two prodigies go head-to-head.
“Please welcome Contestant Number Two, Kotetsu Hagane, to the stage!” the enthusiastic host announced.
Kotetsu walked confidently onto the stage.
“Go, Kotetsu! You can do it!” Izumo Kamizuki cheered for his friend from the audience.
Izumo didn’t feel ready to compete himself, so he decided to support Kotetsu.
Anko Mitarashi wanted to compete but had a prior engagement and needed help to make it.
“Kotetsu Hagane, what jutsu will you be performing for us today?” the host asked with a smile.
“I will perform a Jutsu I developed with my friend: the Deception Technique!” Kotetsu declared proudly.
Izumo beamed with pride from the audience, feeling a sense of shared accomplishment.
“Never underestimate the new generation. Kotetsu may be young, but he’s already developing new jutsus,” the host praised.
“Excuse me, Kotetsu, what grade are you in at the Academy?” the host asked.
Kotetsu answered honestly, “First year.”
“Incredible,” the host exclaimed, genuinely surprised. First-year students had barely been in school for two months and were still mastering basic techniques.
The audience was also amazed, especially the older Academy students who felt like they had wasted their time in school.
Mokutsuki had a hunch about what kind of jutsu Kotetsu was going to perform but was curious about how well it would be executed.
“Let’s watch Kotetsu Hagane’s Deception Technique!” the host announced, stepping back.
Kotetsu quickly formed hand seals, and with a puff of smoke, a chair taller than him appeared on stage.
Silence.
The entire audience stared, bewildered, at the oversized chair next to Kotetsu.
The host, who thought he was unshockable after five years of hosting, found himself momentarily speechless.
“Um, Kotetsu, this…this jutsu…” the host stammered, unsure how to proceed.
“Clone Jutsu is meant to deceive the enemy. This jutsu combines Clone and Transformation techniques for better deception,” Kotetsu explained the rationale behind the jutsu.
“Then why a chair?” the host couldn’t help but ask. He couldn’t imagine this confusing anyone but their own allies.
“Because chairs are easy to transform into. I haven’t mastered anything more complex yet,” Kotetsu admitted.
Laughter erupted from the audience, who had expected a child prodigy but were met with something entirely different.
“This kid’s something else.”
Asuma’s lips twitched. He had been thinking how impressive the new generation was, developing jutsus in their first year, but then it all turned out like this.
“Teacher Mokutsuki, are all Academy students like this now?” Asuma couldn’t help but joke.
Mokutsuki was also speechless. He had advised Kotetsu to start with something simple like a chair but had yet to expect him to become fixated on it.
“From a skill perspective, Kotetsu’s proficiency in Clone and Transformation techniques is impressive for a first-year student,” Mokutsuki said, giving a fair assessment.
Hearing Mokutsuki’s words, Asuma realized that Kotetsu was indeed just a first-year student and not a full-fledged ninja. His skills were commendable for his level.
“Teacher Mokutsuki, you’re so discerning, not fooled by appearances,” Asuma said, feeling a sudden sense of superiority compared to those laughing around him.
Izumo, who had initially been embarrassed by the laughter, felt relieved he hadn’t entered the competition. If everyone knew about his jutsu, his school life would be over.
“Let’s see the judges’ scores: a total of twelve points. The concept is good, and with further refinement, it could score higher,” the host commented.
“I’ll keep working on it with my good friends, Izumo Kamizuki and Anko Mitarashi,” Kotetsu said with a smile, emphasizing their full names.
“So those other two prodigies are named Izumo Kamizuki and Anko Mitarashi. I wonder if they’re here,” the audience murmured.
Hearing this, Izumo’s face turned pale. If his name spread, how would he ever find a girlfriend?
“Next, let’s welcome Contestant Number Three, Uchiha Tekka, to the stage.”
“Fireball Jutsu!”
Tekka was brief, immediately performing a Fireball Jutsu, forming a giant fireball.
“As expected of the Uchiha, mastering such a powerful jutsu before graduation!” the host exclaimed.
“Even a Genin mastering this jutsu is impressive,” one judge commented, giving a high score.
The other judges nodded in agreement, also awarding high marks.
“Twenty-six points! Uchiha Tekka takes the lead with twenty-six points!” the host announced.
With five years of hosting experience, the host knew that barring any prodigies, Tekka’s score would likely secure first place.
Tekka remained composed as he left the stage. He wouldn’t have entered if not for the eight thousand ryo prize.
“Shisui, how was my Fireball Jutsu?” Tekka asked.
“It shows you’ve trained hard,” Shisui replied. He had planned to join Obito but ran into some fellow Uchiha on the way.
Though Tekka’s Fireball Jutsu was good, Shisui didn’t think he’d win. He had seen Obito’s Fireball Jutsu.
“Next, let’s welcome Contestant Number Four, Uchiha Obito, to the stage.”
Today, I’m pushing myself to see if I can release an extra chapter later tonight (which will be posted after midnight). Stay tuned!
