Seeing Obito tie with Kakashi in ninjutsu inspired Guy. He wanted to challenge Kakashi to a rematch.
“Kakashi, to celebrate your first place, let’s have a match!” Guy’s eagerness was evident.
“I refuse. Who celebrates like that? Winning this kind of competition doesn’t need celebrating,” Kakashi declined, taking the opportunity to belittle Obito.
Obito wanted to argue but noticed Mokutsuki and Asuma approaching, so he refrained.
“Obito, have you been hiding your skills during exams? You’ve suddenly become so powerful,” Asuma joked, running up to Obito and patting him on the shoulder.
“Not at all. It’s all thanks to learning from you, Asuma,” Obito replied.
He had persisted with the water-walking training thanks to Mokutsuki, who used Asuma as an example.
“Haha, I should be learning from you. Your Fire Release is impressive,” Asuma laughed, thinking Obito was just being friendly, and put his arm around Obito’s shoulders.
“Mokutsuki-sensei,” Rin, Obito, and Guy greeted Mokutsuki as he approached.
Rin knew Mokutsuki well since he often substituted for their class.
“Well done,” Mokutsuki smiled, encouraging them before quickly leaving with Asuma.
He had instructed his three disciples to act like typical teacher-student relationships in public, without revealing their close ties. This way, others wouldn’t suspect anything.
Even so, Mokutsuki preferred to limit contact with Obito when others were around, knowing how unreliable he could be at this stage.
Before leaving, Mokutsuki used his appraisal jutsu on Kakashi.

Mokutsuki had appraised many chunin instructors at the Academy, most of whom had between 1500-2500 chakra. Kakashi, at eight, already surpassed many chunin in chakra levels.
If he took Kakashi as a disciple and built a high trust level, the chakra gains would be substantial.
However, Mokutsuki quickly dismissed the tempting idea. Kakashi was more easily influenced than Obito. Already a chunin, why would he train under another chunin teacher?
“Even Kakashi’s potential is only S. Does that mean without Six Paths’ lineage, the highest potential is S?” Mokutsuki pondered.
Having appraised many individuals, he knew potential didn’t equal talent. Despite both having S potential, Obito and Guy were far behind Kakashi in the Academy.
Mokutsuki believed potential represented a person’s possibilities.
Those from families with Six Paths lineage had more significant potential. Among the Hyuga and Uchiha clans, he hadn’t seen anyone with less than A potential.
Yet, despite such high potential, not everyone in these clans became Jonin. The two gatekeepers, who were B-, still advanced to special Jonin in the storyline.
After Mokutsuki and Asuma left, Obito and the others decided to celebrate by eating ramen.
Obito, feeling generous after winning first place, treated everyone to ramen.
During the meal, Obito and Kakashi continued to bicker.
“Have you ever ranked first in your year at the Academy?” Kakashi asked coolly.
“Talk to me about winning when you’ve consistently ranked first before graduation,” Kakashi added.
Obito couldn’t respond. He had never ranked first, not even in his class.
Guy paused his ramen-eating. Kakashi’s words hit him, too, as he had never ranked first either.
Meanwhile, Mokutsuki, who is tutoring Asuma, received a system notification.
