- Chapter 55 - A New Body Flicker Technique
Shisui wiped the sweat from his forehead and leaned against a tree to rest.
Might Guy and Obito had also finished their training and were about to start their battle, betting on the number of homework assignments.
“Today is the day to unleash our youth,” Might Guy said seriously, his muscles tense as he prepared to engage.
In truth, Might Guy was under even more pressure than Obito because he started with a debt of fifty assignments and had to keep hitting Obito to reduce them.
“I can’t let it go beyond thirty assignments, or I won’t have any time tomorrow night,” Obito took a deep breath, his eyes filled with the desire for victory and fear of homework.
He still wanted to hang out with Rin Nohara over the weekend so he couldn’t accumulate too many assignments.
“Begin,” Mokutsuki called out.
As soon as Mokutsuki’s voice fell, Might Guy immediately charged forward, delivering a swift whirlwind kick towards Obito.
Obito quickly distanced himself, trying to minimize the hits he took.
After standing for a moment, Shisui sat down. Watching Obito and Might Guy fight so earnestly, he couldn’t help but admire their friendship.
“It’s great, being able to get along happily and go all out when sparring, making progress together,” Shisui thought.
Hearing this, Obito almost stumbled and fell.
If he didn’t go all out, he’d definitely be stuck doing endless homework and making crazy progress alone.
If he hadn’t been weaker, Obito would have asked Mokutsuki to let Shisui join their training.
Although he didn’t fall, Obito was successfully hit by Might Guy, adding another assignment.
With this incident, Obito temporarily stopped his habit of being distracted and focused entirely on dealing with Might Guy’s attacks.
After five minutes, Mokutsuki announced the results of the battle.
“Obito, thirty-five assignments. Guy, fifteen assignments.”
“Thirty-five assignments…” Obito’s face showed a bitter expression. This was five more than his limit, and doing so many assignments would leave him too exhausted to hang out with Rin.
Might Guy’s expression was also uncomfortable. Despite constantly being beaten, Obito’s progress was significant, and Guy could no longer reduce the assignments to ten as before.
“It’s okay, you can do them in installments if you can’t finish today. Split them over a week, and you’ll only have to do five assignments a day, with four more as interest,” Mokutsuki said with a smile.
Doing too many assignments in one day would be hard for Obito to remember, rendering the effort useless.
Obito didn’t want to do it in installments because it would increase from thirty-five to thirty-nine assignments.
But if he didn’t, completing them all at once would be exhausting, leaving him no energy to hang out with Rin.
“Let’s split it over seven days,” Obito replied weakly.
Although installments increased the total, he couldn’t give it up. It made things much easier.
Mokutsuki nodded and noted down Obito’s new installment plan.
“Today’s work must be done today,” Might Guy decided not to split his assignments. He would finish them all today.
Mokutsuki nodded as well. Doing the assignments was meant to motivate and improve their theoretical skills.
Mokutsuki thought this method was good. The assignments didn’t have to be limited to academy knowledge; they could help the two of them learn more.
After resting, Shisui continued his training.
Currently, his focus was on the Body Flicker Technique and genjutsu.
These were new to him, but he was learning quickly, even faster than when he had learned fire style.
[Disciple Uchiha Shisui has made significant progress under your guidance. Reward: Soru (Proficient Level)]
Mokutsuki was stunned by the reward. He didn’t remember a technique called Soru in Naruto, but it existed in One Piece.
When a flood of memories about Soru’s training filled his mind, Mokutsuki understood.
It was the Soru from the Six Powers in One Piece, but modified to fit the Naruto world, making it a taijutsu technique that also used chakra.
Mokutsuki was satisfied. If it were the One Piece version of Soru, his small frame might not handle it. The monsters in One Piece were too physically strong.
Comparing the Body Flicker Technique he knew with Soru, Mokutsuki decided to use Soru from now on.
He felt that the basic Body Flicker Technique he knew was far inferior to Soru.
“Shisui, I’ve noticed your hard work recently. You’ve made significant progress compared to two months ago. Keep it up, and I’ll teach you a stronger Body Flicker Technique soon,” Mokutsuki said with a smile.
Finding something valuable from his “goldmine” disciple made Mokutsuki very happy.
“A stronger Body Flicker Technique?” Shisui’s eyes lit up.
He was very interested in the Body Flicker Technique, feeling that this type of jutsu suited him well.
“Yes, but you need to strengthen your body. The technique I’ll teach you is a taijutsu move. If your body isn’t strong enough, it will put a lot of pressure on your legs,” Mokutsuki nodded.
After all, it was a taijutsu move from the One Piece world, and although it involved chakra, it also required physical strength.
Even Mokutsuki himself needed to strengthen his body for this technique.
His current ninjutsu setup was already luxurious, and Soru’s arrival would enhance his mobility.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, I think I’ve also made significant progress. Can you teach me too?” Obito scratched his head and laughed.
He really wanted to learn the Body Flicker Technique, not for combat, but because he thought it looked cool.
If he knew the Body Flicker Technique, he wouldn’t have to walk onto the stage at the Junior Ninja Competition; he could just appear with a swoosh like Kakashi.
“Of course,” Mokutsuki nodded.
“That’s great! Mokutsuki-sensei, you’re the best teacher in the ninja world!” Obito cheered, feeling very happy that Mokutsuki agreed so readily.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, I’ve also made good progress,” Might Guy said, wanting to learn the new taijutsu as well.
“You can all learn,” Mokutsuki said with a kind smile.
“As long as you get first place in the end-of-term exam, you can learn this Body Flicker Technique from me,” Mokutsuki set the condition.
“But Guy and I are both in the same grade, so doesn’t that mean one of us won’t be able to learn?” Obito asked, confused.
“Then get first place in the next exam, or complete the taijutsu challenge I set. If you complete it, you can learn the technique too,” Mokutsuki replied.
“Is the challenge hard?” Obito asked tentatively.
“With your current skills, you wouldn’t last,” Mokutsuki said bluntly.
Obito fell silent. This meant he had to get first place to learn it.
Obito felt he had one more reason to get first place in the end-of-term exam.
He looked at Might Guy, who gave him a thumbs up with a bright smile.
“You won’t give up first place easily, huh? Fine, the practical exam allows ninjutsu too,” Obito felt his fighting spirit ignite.
First, he would deal with Might Guy, then defeat Kakashi. Then he would be the genius Uchiha Obito.
“Here are your assignments. Remember to do them well,” Mokutsuki handed the papers to Obito.
The fire in Obito’s heart instantly extinguished. Looking at the pile of assignments, his head started to ache.
“And here are yours, Guy,” Mokutsuki smiled, handing Guy his share.
Seeing the black-and-white assignments, the smile on Guy’s face faded, and his previously straight thumbs-up wilted.
Even a tough guy couldn’t handle this pain.
