- Chapter 70 - 4 Small Kakashis of Chakra
[Disciple Might Guy has completed the training task, reward: Chakra +1000, Breath of Stone (Master Level)]
[Disciple Uchiha Obito has completed the training task, reward: Chakra +700, Fire Release: Majestic Demolisher Flame (Skilled Level)]
Several notifications quickly popped up on the system panel.
“It seems the final completion affects the rewards significantly,” Mokutsuki thought as he observed the disparity between the rewards for the two. He understood the mechanism behind the training task rewards.
The rewards for the training task were comprised of two parts: the strength gained during the training period and the task goal itself.
Obito’s improvement in taijutsu was comparable to Guy’s, but since he didn’t achieve the goal of becoming first, his rewards were considerably less.
Mokutsuki then focused on the reward, Breath of Stone. He recognized this technique wasn’t from the Naruto world, having seen it in another series.
With the prior experience of receiving Shave, Mokutsuki knew the system could reward items from other worlds, adapted to fit the Naruto world.
After reviewing the decades of training memories suddenly imprinted in his mind, Mokutsuki realized the Breath of Stone had indeed been adopted.
After examining the memories, Mokutsuki considered the Naruto version of the Breath of Stone to be a forbidden technique.
Mastering Breath of Stone allowed for the use of Total Concentration Breathing to unleash terrifying power in critical moments.
Proficient users could maintain Total Concentration Breathing continuously, enhancing physical strength and overall power.
Mastery of the Breath of Stone enabled even more powerful breathing techniques, letting the user enter a marked state, significantly boosting all attributes.
However, maintaining this marked state consumed a vast amount of chakra and placed great strain on the body.
“This is more suitable for me than the Eight Gates,” Mokutsuki nodded to himself.
As long as he didn’t actively enter the marked state, Breath of Stone was purely beneficial. It improved physical conditioning and allowed for bursts of great power in combat.
Upon further consideration, Mokutsuki found that combining the Eight Gates with Breath of Stone was the perfect match.
The Eight Gates could open the body’s chakra gates, unleashing immense chakra, but the chakra was too volatile for ninjutsu. However, the marked state of Breath of Stone didn’t require precise chakra control.
The vast chakra from the Eight Gates could sustain the marked state of Breath of Stone. I am combining the two, which only required concern about whether the body could withstand it.
The advantage of learning a breathing technique was clear. Breathing techniques enhance physical strength.
Mokutsuki thought the Eight Gates combined with breathing techniques was a great combination. Using the Seventh Gate along with the marked state was much safer than directly opening the Eighth Gate.
Mokutsuki felt he had hit the jackpot this time. Although Obito’s skilled-level Fire Release: Majestic Demolisher Flame was good, it couldn’t compare to the Naruto version of Breath of Stone.
Mokutsuki opened his personal panel.
Name: Hanya Mokutsuki
Age: 18
Chakra: 11300
Skills: Chef, Three Finger Sealing Technique, Fire Release: Majestic Demolisher Flame, Shave, Earth Release: Earth Spear, Breath of Stone…
Evaluation: You have mastered many jutsus, including high-level jutsus and terrifyingly powerful forbidden techniques. You can unleash astonishing power when needed, making you a standout among many Jonin.
Seeing his chakra successfully break into five digits, Mokutsuki felt a wave of joy.
From the 4,300 he had when he first crossed over to now, 11,300, it had only taken him one semester.
The Ninja Academy had three semesters a year. If he could maintain this growth rate each semester, not counting the increase during holidays, he could gain over 20,000 chakras in a year.
“My current chakra should be around 4.5 small Kakashis,” Mokutsuki thought to himself.
In his previous life, people often used Kakashi as a unit of chakra measurement, but since he was referring to young Kakashi, he called it a small Kakashi.
With the first-place winner decided, the exam concluded, and teachers and students went their separate ways.
“Are you okay, Obito?” Rin Nohara ran up to Obito, concerned.
“Why would anything be wrong? Just a small kick…” Obito started but then winced in pain as he moved too quickly, feeling the spot where Guy had kicked him.
“Don’t push yourself. Let me help you.” Rin sighed and reached out.
“No, really, I’m fine. I just lost because I was careless,” Obito gritted his teeth, unwilling to admit the pain.
Losing in front of Mokutsuki and Rin felt unbearable, and the thought of Kakashi mocking him for never being first stung even more.
“Mokutsuki-sensei.” Obito’s eyes darted away as Mokutsuki approached.
“How are you feeling? Should I take you to the infirmary?” Mokutsuki asked with genuine concern.
The losing students needed timely comfort.
“No, I’m fine, really.” Obito answered honestly, feeling that apart from the pain, he was okay. He had already refused the proctor’s offer to go to the infirmary earlier.
“It’s better to get checked just in case,” Mokutsuki insisted.
“Mokutsuki-sensei is right. Let’s go to the infirmary.” Rin agreed.
“Well, okay. Rin, you go on home. I’ll go with Mokutsuki-sensei.” Obito finally agreed under their insistence.
“I’ll go too.” Rin still seemed worried.
“No need, Rin. Mokutsuki-sensei is with me,” Obito insisted, not wanting to trouble Rin.
“I’ll accompany Obito,” Guy offered.
“See, I’ve got two people with me. Rin, you should head back.” Obito said.
Rin thought for a moment and, trusting Mokutsuki, agreed to leave.
At the infirmary, Mokutsuki found a reason to send Guy away before starting a conversation with Obito.
“Don’t let one exam’s outcome affect you. There are two exams each semester, and six in a year. If it doesn’t work out this time, work harder next time.” Mokutsuki advised.
“Don’t feel like you’ve let me down for not being first. If you or Guy think that way, does that mean one of you must always feel that way each semester?” Mokutsuki joked.
Obito laughed and realized Mokutsuki was right. There would always be another chance. He could just work harder next semester.
“As long as you improve and grow stronger, you’re not letting me down.” Mokutsuki patted Obito’s head.
“Mokutsuki-sensei…” Obito felt touched by Mokutsuki’s severe and sincere expression. He resolved to prove himself next semester by winning first place, showing he was worthy of Mokutsuki’s teaching.
[Disciple Uchiha Obito has set a new training task.]
[Training Task: Achieve first place in the Ninja Academy’s practical exam.]
Seeing the system notification, Mokutsuki smiled with satisfaction.
After comforting his defeated student, Mokutsuki didn’t forget to reward the victorious one. He brought Guy back and led him out of the infirmary.
