- Chapter 73 - The Holiday Special Training Begins
[Disciple Uchiha Shisui achieved perfect results in his academic assessment through diligent training, receiving rewards: Chakra +300, Ninjutsu Proficiency Scroll]
[Disciple Might Guy achieved excellent results in his academic assessment through diligent training, receiving rewards: Chakra +250]
[Disciple Uchiha Obito achieved good results in his academic assessment through diligent training, receiving rewards: Chakra +200]
After settling the rewards for the final exams, Mokutsuki’s total chakra saw another slight increase.
[Name: Yuzuru Mokutsuki]
[Chakra: 12050]
“It seems that only getting first place in both categories will reward the proficiency scroll,” Mokutsuki thought as he looked at the three reward notifications.
Aside from Shisui, who had maxed out his grade level, the rewards for Might Guy and Obito were slightly higher than last time.
Previously, Might Guy and Obito’s rewards were only 150 chakra each; this time, Might Guy received an additional 100 chakra, and Obito got an extra 50 chakra.
Might Guy and Obito had indeed made significant progress, not only in practical skills but also in theory, now scoring over fifty points.
Although the ninjutsu proficiency scroll was valuable, Mokutsuki planned to have Might Guy and Obito spend less time aiming for perfect scores in theory.
Their learning efficiency was simply too low.
Even with frequent extra tutoring from him, Might Guy and Obito could only score a bit over fifty points, whereas someone like Anko could easily get a perfect score.
For Might Guy and Obito to get full marks, Mokutsuki felt they’d have to stop all other training and focus solely on studying, with him teaching them every day.
But that wouldn’t be worth it. It’s better to continue their normal training and become stronger sooner, earning Mokutsuki more rewards.
“Hehe, Mokutsuki-sensei, about that reward you mentioned…” After scolding the two troublemakers, Anko approached Mokutsuki a bit sheepishly.
“You have the nerve to ask for a reward after regressing,” Mokutsuki said, tapping Anko lightly on the forehead with two fingers.
“But I still got second place in the practical exam. Shisui is just too strong; I couldn’t beat him,” Anko tried to defend herself.
“I was referring to your theory score. You regressed by two points,” Mokutsuki pointed out, knowing every student’s grades in the class clearly.
“Ah, it’s all Kotetsu and Izumo’s fault,” Anko fumed, wishing she could go back and punch those two idiots who convinced her not to study.
“Take this, but if you regress again, there won’t be any next time,” Mokutsuki finally handed Anko the dango she craved.
He had bought them on his way to school, making sure everyone in the class got one.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, you’re the best!” Anko praised him while happily receiving the dango.
The atmosphere in Class 1-A was quite good. After checking their scores and getting their papers, they didn’t leave but stayed to chat until noon.
At noon, Mokutsuki went to the lecture hall for a meeting with the other teachers.
Even teachers at the Ninja Academy had to attend meetings, though not frequently. This meeting was mainly to summarize the teaching work for the semester and announce the list of outstanding teachers.
For Mokutsuki, this meeting could have been more significant. Unlike regular teachers, he wasn’t interested in the outstanding teacher award or the bonus.
Unexpectedly, the Third Hokage himself attended the meeting.
According to Iketani Yu and Ueda Aya, this meeting was usually attended by the class leaders of the teacher groups.
“Lord Third,” Mokutsuki greeted the Third Hokage respectfully.
The Third Hokage looked at Mokutsuki with a smile and nodded.
Not being very busy recently, the Third Hokage had taken a look at the scores of Mokutsuki’s Class 1-A, and what he saw surprised him.
The previous results were already unmatched, but this time Class 1-A’s exam results were even better.
The average theory score was an astonishing eighty-one, which would be considered excellent in other classes. This meant that everyone in Class 1-A was above average.
The average score for the practical exam was twenty-four, which was also impressive, as the normal average was around sixteen.
The Third Hokage took a closer look and found that the main reason for the high scores in Class 1-A was the ninjutsu scores, with no one scoring below eight points, followed by the hand signs.
Seeing such an excellent class under Mokutsuki’s guidance and having not attended a school meeting for a while, the Third Hokage decided to come in person.
Perhaps because of the Third Hokage’s presence, the meeting proceeded quickly without any hitches.
“Now, the announcement of this semester’s outstanding teachers: Yuzuru Mokutsuki…”
Mokutsuki’s name was listed first.
“Mokutsuki-sensei, as expected of you,” Ueda Aya whispered congratulations.
Although Mokutsuki felt indifferent inside, he responded with a gentle smile to his colleague’s congratulations.
“Iketani Yu.”
“I’m also an outstanding teacher!” Iketani Yu said with surprise.
His students had taken the top two spots in the grade, so he had suspected he might be named an outstanding teacher, but actually receiving it still filled him with joy.
This was a prestigious award, given to only four teachers each semester, and he hadn’t received it in all his years of teaching.
“Damn, why didn’t my students have a sudden burst of performance?” Kimura Sanjin said enviously.
He wasn’t jealous of Mokutsuki winning the award because he thought it would be strange if Mokutsuki didn’t.
But he knew Iketani Yu’s level, and it was obvious he got the award thanks to Might Guy and Obito.
“To think you complained about Might Guy and Uchiha Obito being dead last. This award is all thanks to them,” Ueda Aya said, also envious.
When Iketani Yu took over Class 2-B, everyone comforted him, yet here he was at the end of the semester with a surprise turnaround.
“I failed to recognize true geniuses,” Iketani Yu admitted, having underestimated Might Guy and Obito.
“I’ll treat you all to drinks when the bonus comes in. Mokutsuki-sensei, you must join us. You deserve credit for this award,” Iketani Yu said, laughing. Mokutsuki had substituted many classes for him.
“If I have time, I’ll come,” Mokutsuki replied with a smile.
“I want to specifically commend Teacher Yuzuru. Under his guidance, Class 1-A has achieved remarkable results,” Hiruzen Sarutobi began to speak.
Hiruzen then read out the various achievements of Mokutsuki’s class, encouraging everyone to learn from teachers like him to cultivate the next generation for Konoha.
After being personally praised by the Third Hokage, Mokutsuki felt the eyes of all the teachers on him. Perhaps because of his good reputation, he didn’t encounter any envious or malicious looks; everyone was friendly.
“Mokutsuki, you’re doing great. Keep it up,” Hiruzen said, patting Mokutsuki on the shoulder after the meeting.
“Lord Third, I will do my best to teach the students,” Mokutsuki repeated his response from the principal’s office.
Hiruzen laughed heartily, looking pleased.
The end of the meeting also signaled the start of the holiday for Mokutsuki and the other teachers.
Receiving the outstanding teacher award and being praised by the Third Hokage didn’t affect Mokutsuki much, but the fact that Might Guy hadn’t triggered a training task in the past two days did puzzle him.
Mokutsuki discreetly probed and found out that Might Guy hadn’t fought Kakashi yet, which put him at ease.
Kakashi might have been on a mission, and Might Guy hadn’t been able to find him in the past two days.
With the holidays officially starting, Mokutsuki informed his disciples of his unique training plans for the break.
