- Chapter 83 - Might Guy's Reward for Improvement
“To climb a tree, you need a precise amount of chakra. Find that feeling of fixing yourself to the tree and maintain it to stay attached.”
“Water is fluid; don’t apply the experience of tree climbing to water walking. Pay attention to the movement of the water and consistently output chakra.”
“Practice forming hand seals often. Speed in forming seals is crucial. The faster you can execute a jutsu, the higher your chances of success.”
In the training ground, Mokutsuki roamed around, continuously offering guidance to each group.
It was Friday afternoon, and after a few days of large classes, Mokutsuki had gotten used to the rhythm. He became increasingly proficient, trying to attend to everyone.
Mokutsuki also encouraged the students to communicate with each other. Sometimes, something they couldn’t figure out on their own could become clear through discussion.
The summer training sessions were more relaxed compared to theoretical classes, where students had to sit and listen. Students gradually adapted to this kind of training.
At first, Anko found it uncomfortable to train all day. But after a few days, she thought, “It’s not that bad.” The schedule was two large classes in the morning and afternoon, each with a half-hour break. If you got tired, Mokutsuki wouldn’t mind if you took a rest.
“Monday afternoon is our first strength test. I really want to move up to Group B. Shisui is already in Group A, and it would be embarrassing for me, the second strongest in my year, to stay in Group C,” Anko shared her thoughts with her two close friends during break.
“It’s not that we don’t support you, but you really don’t have the strength to move to Group B yet,” Kotetsu said frankly.
“I’ve seen Ebisu-senpai’s training. He’s way stronger than you.”
Izumo nodded in agreement. Many fourth-year students were still in Group C. It was a bit unrealistic for Anko to think she could move up to Group B after just a few days of training.
“Who’s Ebisu?” Anko scratched her head, not recognizing the name of the senior her friends mentioned.
“A fourth-year senior currently in Group B. He’s really strong and a true genius,” Kotetsu explained.
“Hmph, you all underestimate me. I’ll train hard over the weekend and move up, just you watch,” Anko said, hands on her hips.
Kotetsu and Izumo felt uneasy. They spoke carelessly, but what if Anko really outperformed them? That would be more painful than failing the test themselves.
“Just kidding. Anko, you’re the strongest girl in our year. You’ll breeze through the strength test,” Kotetsu quickly reassured Anko, afraid she might actually outdo them and enter Group B first.
?Completed a large class?
?Rating: A?
?Reward: Earth Style: Earth Wall, Water Style: Water Prison Jutsu?
“Double rewards, as expected,” Mokutsuki thought.
Previously, seeing that a B rating yielded double the usual chakra points, Mokutsuki had anticipated that an A rating might grant two jutsus.
Actually, Mokutsuki preferred receiving two of the same jutsu to master many techniques quickly.
However, receiving two different jutsus wasn’t bad either. If he consistently achieved A ratings, he could learn four new Jutsu a day, which was an incredibly efficient way to learn Jutsu. His disciples would never worry about running out of jutsu to learn.
After class, Mokutsuki confirmed with Kushina and Minato to teach them the Squirrel Fish recipe on Saturday, then returned to the southern forest to continue training his disciples.
Might Guy and Shisui still diligently practice Soru?
Both could already use Soru to a basic extent, but the skill hadn’t yet registered as “Learned” in Mokutsuki’s appraisal, though their proficiency had increased.
Mokutsuki understood the standards for learning a skill: merely being able to use it didn’t count. Mastery was required, like producing a giant enough fireball with the Fireball Jutsu, not just a tiny flame.
Even an unmastered Soru thrilled Might Guy. Using Soru’s unique chakra technique to gather and release chakra in his legs instantly, he could appear several meters away in the blink of an eye and simultaneously kick down a large tree.
“This speed is so much faster. If I hit Kakashi with a kick like this, could he react in time?” The guy thought excitedly.
However, he knew Kakashi also knew the Body Flicker Technique, so after the excitement, Guy trained even harder.
?Your disciple Might Guy has diligently trained under your guidance and has achieved a certain level of improvement. Reward: Finger Pistol (Proficient)?
“Guy has triggered it too. Only Obito left,” Mokutsuki thought, glancing at Obito, who was training his chakra nature transformation.
Perhaps motivated by seeing Guy and Shisui learning Soru, Obito had been training tirelessly. He wore weights during the day while running and training, showing great determination. It wouldn’t be long before he received a reward for his improvement, too.
Mokutsuki focused on the Finger Pistol technique that appeared in his mind.
This reward was another one of the Six Powers, localized into a taijutsu technique by the system, just like Soru.
Finding a large stone, Mokutsuki channeled a large amount of chakra into his index finger and effortlessly punctured several holes in the stone.
“This is quite similar to the Third Raikage’s Hell Stab. Adding lightning chakra nature transformation should greatly enhance its power,” Mokutsuki concluded after his experiment.
“I wonder what reward Obito will trigger,” Mokutsuki mused.
If Obito’s reward was also one of the Six Powers, Mokutsuki hoped it would be Moonwalk.
There were few means of flight in the ninja world, and being able to fly was a huge advantage.
Moonwalk might not be an accurate flight, but it allowed for high jumps.
After training his chakra nature transformation, Obito didn’t go home to rest. Instead, he asked Shisui and Guy if they wanted to go for a night run together.
They gladly accepted, and the three went for a run.
“Haha, Obito, you’ve finally realized that youth is all about training,” Guy said, giving Obito a thumbs-up, his shiny white teeth gleaming even at night.
“What’s youth got to do with it? I just want to train my body to learn the Body Flicker Technique,” Obito replied, rolling his eyes at Guy.
Watching the two practice the Body Flicker Technique while he trained alone on nature transformation made Obito feel left out.
It was like being the only one doing homework in a dorm while everyone else was playing games together.
“Keep it up. Mokutsuki-sensei is definitely looking forward to you completing the challenge,” Shisui encouraged.
He believed Mokutsuki wasn’t withholding the technique but was instead preparing Obito for it.
“Yeah, I’ll challenge it again on Sunday!” Obito declared, filled with determination.
Just a hundred questions? That wouldn’t stop Uchiha Obito from advancing!
