- Chapter 94 - Battle of the Dragon and Phoenix
“Contestant number one, Kotetsu Hagane, versus contestant number two, Izumo Kamizuki,” Mokutsuki announced, calling out the names for the first battle.
Upon hearing that they had to face each other in the first round, Kotetsu and Izumo couldn’t help but lament their bad luck. They never expected to clash right at the beginning.
“Kotetsu, I thought today would be our day to shine. The heavens are truly unkind,” Izumo sighed.
“Indeed,” Kotetsu nodded with a pained expression.
If they hadn’t been matched against each other, their newly perfected illusion technique might have brought them to a glorious showdown in the finals.
“Kotetsu, our improved illusion technique is formidable. Let’s agree not to use it against each other,” Izumo suggested.
After thinking it over, Izumo smiled and nodded, “Agreed.”
“You two, stop talking like ancient scholars and get to the battle arena. Don’t waste time,” Anko Mitarashi said, exasperated.
Ignoring Anko’s disdain for their sense of ceremony, the two walked to the battle area, preparing for their fight.
“Begin!” Mokutsuki shouted once they were ready.
Upon Mokutsuki’s signal, the two immediately rushed at each other, engaging in close combat.
They were evenly matched, having trained together under the same teacher. Their fight was a display of mirrored techniques and familiarity, making it hard to determine a winner.
Kotetsu threw a right punch; Izumo countered with a right punch. Kotetsu used an elbow strike; Izumo matched it with his own. They exchanged blows for two minutes without any clear advantage.
“It’s time,” Kotetsu thought to himself.
“Though we are brothers, the ninja world is harsh. I will carry on your will, Izumo,” Kotetsu readied himself to use the illusion technique, feeling guilty.
“I’m sorry, Kotetsu, but I am a ninja,” Izumo smiled and quickly formed hand signs to activate the illusion technique.
Izumo had no intention of holding back. He only pretended to agree with Kotetsu to lull him into a false sense of security.
“Leaf Temptation Jutsu!” Kotetsu shouted, abandoning his guilt. Izumo was craftier than him!
As Izumo completed his hand signs, the battlefield was filled with four alluring female clones, each bearing a striking resemblance to Izumo.
Despite having practiced the technique himself many times, Kotetsu’s hand sign speed slowed involuntarily, his gaze drawn to the captivating scene.
It wasn’t just Kotetsu; many of the onlookers were similarly entranced by the unexpected spectacle.
Mokutsuki was momentarily stunned. This wasn’t supposed to be Naruto’s Sexy Jutsu! The butterfly effect was indeed strange.
Taking advantage of Kotetsu’s distraction, Izumo delivered a flying kick, knocking Kotetsu to the ground.
The blow snapped Kotetsu back to reality. He realized how dangerously effective the technique was, even against someone as resolute as himself.
Kotetsu quickly regained his composure, creating distance while forming hand signs.
Soon, four more alluring female clones appeared on the field, differing in appearance but equally captivating.
Seeing the new clones, Izumo’s movements slowed, giving Kotetsu a chance to counterattack.
“These idiots! How could such weak clones be effective?” Anko shook her head, finding their modified jutsu absurd.
The battle raged on intensely, much to the delight of the spectators. In the end, Izumo emerged victorious, narrowly defeating Kotetsu.
“Kotetsu, this power doesn’t belong to you; it belongs to Ebisu-senpai!” Kotetsu felt he lost not due to skill but because he hesitated out of guilt.
“While it’s true that Ebisu-senpai contributed greatly to perfecting this jutsu, a win is a win. I will carry your will and continue to fight on,” Izumo said proudly.
The spectators, hearing their conversation, began discussing.
“Isn’t Ebisu the senior who was the only one to advance to Class A last time? I can’t believe he helped create such a jutsu,” one student remarked in disbelief.
During the last skill test, Ebisu was the sole student to advance to Class A, earning significant recognition among Class C students.
“Yeah, I know him. We’re in the same class, Class 4-6,” a classmate confirmed.
“Honestly, this jutsu might be quite practical. Could he be a genius?” another student speculated.
Regardless of opinions, Ebisu’s reputation soared in Class C.
Unfortunately for Izumo, his victory was short-lived. In the second round, he faced Yuhi Kurenai.
Kurenai completely ignored Izumo’s clones, relentlessly pursuing him until he quickly lost.
“Damn, I forgot about the female students!” Izumo realized that jutsu had its drawbacks.
“That’s what you get for betraying your brother!” Kotetsu shouted in mock anger.
Meanwhile, in Class A, the combat tests continued.
“Contestant number one, Uchiha Shisui, versus contestant number two, Kurenai Yuhi.”
“The first match is against him…” Kurenai felt a bit nervous upon hearing her opponent.
She had known Shisui for only a few weeks, but he had left a deep impression. He had easily defeated her seniors and topped the skill test rankings despite being in a lower grade.
“Just do your best, Kurenai,” Asuma reassured her.
“Watch out for his speed; he’s very fast,” added Kazuma.
Kazuma had learned firsthand not to underestimate Shisui’s speed.
Kurenai nodded, steeling herself as she walked to the battle area.
“Begin!”
The moment the fight started, Kurenai understood why Kazuma had lost. Shisui’s speed and skill in both taijutsu and ninjutsu left her no room to counterattack. She was fully occupied just defending against his relentless assaults.
Eventually, unable to withstand Shisui’s onslaught, Kurenai was defeated.
“Uchiha Shisui is the winner,” Mokutsuki announced.
He had evaluated Kurenai’s potential, which was relatively high, rated as an A. However, her talent lay in genjutsu, which had limited effectiveness in the Naruto world without advanced techniques like the Mangekyou Sharingan.
“It’s okay, Kazuma also lost to him. This guy is just too talented,” Asuma comforted her.
Kazuma, feeling slighted, shot Asuma a glare. What kind of comfort was that?
“Contestant number seventeen, Uchiha Obito, versus contestant number eighteen, Might Guy.”
