One Piece Admiral Seirin - Chapter 53
On the streets of the royal city.
“Hawkins, I heard you’re good at divination. Can you do a reading for me?” Rosha’s cheeks were puffed out as he chewed on something, running alongside Hawkins and looking over at him.
“Choose a card from this deck of tarot cards,” Hawkins replied, reaching into his coat and pulling out a slightly bloodstained deck of tarot cards.
“The twelfth card from the top. I like the number twelve,” Rosha said.
Hawkins shuffled and cut the cards with a calm expression, then drew a card and held it between his index and middle fingers for Rosha to see. The card depicted a red man hanging upside down from a column.
“This is… the Hanged Man?” Rosha asked, somewhat unsure.
Hawkins nodded. “Yes, it’s the Hanged Man.”
“What does this card mean?” Rosha, curious about Western-style divination and prophecy, asked.
“The Hanged Man can mean many things, but in our current predicament, I would interpret it as—sacrifice and opportunity.”
“Sacrifice and opportunity?” Rosha nodded thoughtfully, not probing further.
Divination is often about the belief in its power. If you believe, it can be significant; if not, it’s just coincidence. For example, asking a fortune teller for winning lottery numbers would only get you a cryptic poem rather than direct answers.
“Interesting. Here, have an apple,” Rosha said, offering an apple to Hawkins.
“Give me one too,” Drake said, extending his hand.
Crunch, crunch.
The three of them bit into their apples, their expressions surprisingly calm.
“Hey… why are you all so relaxed?” Law, running on the far left, looked at them with a face full of black lines and twitching cheeks.
Drake scratched his head, noticing a baguette falling from the sky. He caught it and offered it to Law. “Here, have some bread to replenish your energy.”
“Get lost! I hate bread!” Law shouted, his lips trembling with frustration.
He covered his face with his hand. “Why did I ever agree to work with this guy?”
Drake sighed, patting Law on the shoulder sympathetically. “I understand how you feel, Law. He also told me we could sneak into the city quietly.”
Boom, boom, boom!
The ground trembled and cracked, and a terrifying white figure moved underground and rapidly approached. Behind them, a massive crowd of twisted-faced citizens surged like a black tide, wielding various objects as they chased.
The four of them sprinted toward the palace, chased by a giant worm and thousands of people.
Suddenly, a mushroom cloud several hundred meters high rose from the direction of the palace. The intense explosion’s flames and black smoke shot skyward, followed by a massive shockwave that swept in all directions.
Boom!
It was as if an apocalyptic storm had erupted in the royal city. The powerful shockwave hit the four of them, making it hard to keep their eyes open.
The pursuing citizens were swept away by the shockwave, collapsing like cut wheat. Many were knocked unconscious, and those who weren’t suffered significant injuries. Fortunately, they were far enough from the explosion’s center to avoid massive casualties.
“What a terrifying explosion. What happened over there?” Law shielded his eyes from the sun, trying to see through the dust-filled air.
“It’s Peacock and the others fighting! Such a huge explosion—Peacock might be hurt!” Drake, having swallowed his apple, showed concern.
“Look! They’re flying over!” Rosha suddenly pointed at small black dots in the sky.
The others squinted and saw a dozen figures flailing in the violent air currents like leaves in the wind. It was Peacock, Bepo, and the others!
Suddenly, the ground beneath them exploded, and a massive maw opened, ready to swallow them whole.
“Bepo! Penguin!” Law, worried about his comrades, used his last bit of strength to expand his operating room.
“ROOM!”
A hundred-meter-wide transparent sphere enveloped the four of them, causing them to vanish just as the giant worm lunged at them. The worm missed and smashed into the ground, creating a huge crater.
Swoosh!
The four reappeared dozens of meters in the air. Rosha, quick on his feet, used Moonwalk to leap over and grab the unconscious, bleeding Peacock. He snatched Bepo by the ear with his other hand, landing them on a rooftop.
In mid-air, Drake transformed into a giant dinosaur, catching several officers in his mouth and grabbing Penguin and Shachi with his claws.
Boom!
The dinosaur’s back hit the ground, creating a massive crater.
Law’s surgical space expanded once more, enveloping the remaining people, ready to teleport them.
“Law! You traitor! I’ve finally found you!”
Emerging from the thick smoke, two figures, a man and a woman, flew toward Law with murderous intent.
The man’s spiky silver hair was like a blooming sword flower. His feet exploded repeatedly, propelling him like a rocket.
The woman transformed into a missile, trailing flames as she flew at Law.
“Gladius, Baby 5!”
Law waved his hand, teleporting the remaining people to Rosha’s rooftop and preparing to escape in another direction.
But he had underestimated his own fatigue. After using two large-area operations, his stamina was severely depleted. He wasn’t yet the supernova he would become, nor had he fully developed his abilities or physical strength.
“ROO…”
The sphere between his fingers dissipated, and Law, clutching his chest, plummeted.
“No!” Rosha, Drake, and Hawkins were all shocked.
Rosha activated Life Return, his legs trembling as he used Moonwalk to rush toward Law.
“Hahaha, exhausted, Law?” Gladius laughed maniacally as he reached out to grab Law by the neck.
“I’ll beat you half to death before handing you over to the Young Master!”
“Damn it!” Rosha’s eyes widened in anger, pushing himself to move faster.
But he was still a distance away from Law.
Sweating, Law glanced at the incoming Baby 5 in missile form behind Gladius and squinted, shouting, “Baby 5! I need you! Help me take down Gladius!”
“I… I’m needed?”
A blush appeared on Baby 5’s face as she felt happiness wash over her.
“How wonderful to be needed again.”
“No! Law, you sly dog! Baby 5, snap out of it! He’s the enemy now!”
“Shut up! I’ll do anything for someone who needs me! Gladius, die!”
Baby 5 accelerated, slamming into the shocked and furious Gladius.
