One Piece Admiral Silver Fox - Chapter 15
The alarms blared continuously, signalling everyone on the battleship into action. Sailors adjusted the sails, swiftly moved supplies, and everyone moved urgently.
Standing by the railing, Foxy was utterly bewildered.
“Brother, what’s going on? Is there an enemy attack?”
He grabbed a passing marine and asked.
“You’re Foxy, right? The one who saved many of our comrades.”
“Yes.”
“The alarms mean there’s an emergency order. We all need to be ready for battle. The continuous alarms indicate the situation is serious.”
This marine, judging by his uniform and insignia, was a Corporal.
The ranks in the Navy, from lowest to highest, are chore boy, Seaman Recruit, Seaman Apprentice, Seaman, Petty Officer, Chief Petty Officer, Warrant Officer, Ensign, Lieutenant Junior Grade, Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander, Commander, Captain, Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Commander-in-Chief.
On ships commanded by influential officers like Tsuru, even the lowest ranks are usually Petty Officers. The Chief Petty Officers and higher ranks are usually tasked with chores or moving supplies during battle, transporting ammunition and other necessities.
Foxy, at present, was not even a chore boy.
Although Tsuru had promised to enlist him, an official position had yet to be assigned to Foxy.
“Get inside the cabin quickly.”
With that, the Corporal hurried off.
At the same time, the anchor was rapidly raised, sails unfurled, and the battleship swiftly moved away from the coastline.
The entire operation was seamless, with each person performing their duty efficiently.
But Foxy remained puzzled as he saw no signs of an attack.
“Foxy, why are you out here?”
Yafiel, who was directing operations, noticed Foxy and hurried over.
“Major, what’s going on? Weren’t we supposed to head to Marineford?”
“We received an emergency order from Marineford. We’re heading to Shattian Island first.”
“Shattian Island? Why?” Foxy was initially stunned, then felt a sinking feeling in his chest.
He wanted to reach Marineford as quickly as possible.
“Baroque Redfield has appeared on the Grand Line and killed Celestial Dragons. Fleet Admiral Kong is currently fighting him, and we’re going to provide support.”
Yafiel didn’t hold back, explaining the situation.
“Baroque Redfield?”
Foxy’s right eye widened. Did he hear correctly?
If Oda wasn’t messing with him, this guy was supposed to be a character from the games! How did he end up in the main storyline?
Recalling various bits of information from forums and fan groups, Foxy knew Baroque Redfield was an overpowered character.
Alone, he was on par with Roger, Whitebeard, and Golden Lion. His Devil Fruit powers were also extraordinary.
He possessed the Bat-Bat Fruit, Model: Vampire, a Mythical Zoan type.
This granted him youth restoration, the ability to suck blood for immortality, peak strength maintenance, and reportedly incredible speed.
More importantly, Redfield was a master of all three types of Haki, a top-tier swordsman, and a superb physical combatant.
Foxy remembered playing a game called “One Piece: Unlimited World Red,” in which Redfield had a pet, a tanuki with Mythical Zoan powers.
A shapeshifting leaf also allowed him to mimic the strongest beings on the seas, and he was mighty.
This was wild.
It wasn’t that Foxy didn’t believe in Tsuru, but the gap in their strength was too vast. If this was the game version of Baroque Redfield, they might not return from this.
Foxy didn’t know how strong Roger was, but he had a general idea about Whitebeard and Golden Lion.
Thinking about Whitebeard’s ferocity during the Marineford War, where Akainu Sakazuki was nearly ground into the dirt, Foxy shuddered.
Even then, Whitebeard was old and sick. Despite that, he fought the three Admirals alone and nearly killed Akainu.
Even Blackbeard feared him immensely.
Golden Lion, who once forced Roger to rely on a storm to survive, later stormed Marineford with a steering wheel lodged in his head, severely weakened, yet still killed many marines before being captured by Sengoku and Garp together.
He was then imprisoned in the world’s most secure prison, Impel Down, but he cut off his legs to escape, shattering the myth of Impel Down’s inescapability.
He later reappeared in the movie Strong World, where he was finally defeated by Luffy’s protagonist, Halo.
Their enemies could gauge one’s strength.
Redfield’s opponents were the likes of Whitebeard, Golden Lion, Garp, and Sengoku. Compared to them, Tsuru…
After all, Tsuru primarily relied on her intellect.
Foxy even felt some sympathy for these influential individuals.
They all fall into the protagonist’s plot armour.
Golden Lion, Redfield is in the game, even a specific individual from Skypiea.
Now wasn’t twenty years later, meaning Whitebeard, Golden Lion, and Redfield were all at their peak. How could they possibly handle this?
Wait, something seemed off.
Foxy racked his brain, recalling details from forums and fan groups.
Yafiel just said Redfield was fighting Fleet Admiral Kong?
Kong? The Commander-in-Chief Kong?
If so, Redfield might be defeated, captured by Garp, and imprisoned in Impel Down’s sixth level.
When Foxy read this on a forum back then, it left a deep impression because Kong fought Redfield at 80 years old and only lost by half a move.
Kong was indeed still strong, a testament to his enduring might.
Indeed, old ginger is spicier, and elders are always formidable.
The most important part was that Kong survived, thriving at the top of the military for the next twenty years.
By the time Sengoku stepped down as Fleet Admiral, Kong was still the Commander-in-Chief.
The world was too dangerous and miraculous to be taken at face value.
“Foxy? Foxy?”
Yafiel waved her hand in front of Foxy’s face.
“Ah…”
Snapping back to reality, Foxy looked at Yafiel.
“Go back and rest. The enemy this time is very strong. We might not even have the chance to fight, so don’t worry.”
Yafiel thought Foxy was anxious, so she tried to comfort him.
“Okay.”
Without saying much, Foxy nodded and walked back to the infirmary.
Watching Foxy leave, Yafiel resumed her duties.
Returning to the infirmary, Foxy couldn’t calm down. Perhaps there was no real danger if this was the battle where Redfield was captured.
As Yafiel said, they might not even get to fight.
Only Tsuru is qualified.
For some reason, Foxy felt excited. The thought of witnessing a battle between the world’s top-tier fighters made his blood boil.
This differed from watching anime and movies or distinguishing 2D from 3D. This was experiencing it up close, a wholly different level of immersion.
However, Foxy felt his luck was poor. Having narrowly escaped death, finally catching Tsuru’s attention, he was just about to lay low and recover, only to be thrown into another life-threatening situation.
Now, he had to witness a fight between two big bosses, starting on nightmare difficulty. If his heart was any weaker, he might have fainted on the spot.
So, Foxy felt a bit gloomy, unconsciously touching his left eye, still feeling the lingering pain.
