One Piece Admiral Silver Fox - Chapter 22
Marineford, located in the Grand Line, is a massive island. It symbolizes absolute justice, maintaining law and order worldwide. A seagull holding a scale symbolizes peace and order.
This base of the World Government’s direct subordinates, the Navy, is later seen as a symbol of peace in the “Great Pirate Era.” Majestic and imposing, its grandeur is palpable even from the coastline. The sight of numerous warships docked and the solemn navy troops is awe-inspiring, especially the defense cannons, which induce dread just by looking at them.
The central focus is the headquarters building, an even more magnificent and formidable structure accessible only to significant figures, whether administrative or combat personnel.
On the eastern coastline, far from the sea and the headquarters building, lies one of the four major naval training grounds. This vast area is used for daily naval training and living quarters.
Under the scorching sun, a small figure watched the bustling training ground with a grim expression. It had been a day since he arrived in Marineford; today was the second day.
Since arriving with the navy ship two days ago, Foxy was initially awestruck by the grandeur of the buildings. Then, he followed the marines under Crane to this area.
Crane seemed to have forgotten about him.
Initially, Foxy was patient, but after a day of no activity, he grew restless, and his mood soured.
Did he have to start from the bottom? How long would it take to learn the Six Powers and Haki? This didn’t match the script from the fan fiction he had read!
Wasn’t the Navy supposed to cultivate the new generation? As a Devil Fruit user, shouldn’t he have a fast track? He had done so much before coming here, and Crane seemed satisfied.
But…
What the hell?
Cursing internally, Foxy looked at the distant headquarters building.
Even from several streets away, it was visible.
Sigh…
He sighed, furrowing his brows in thought.
He couldn’t just sit idly by; he had to devise a plan.
Watching the marines sweating on the training ground, Foxy made a decision. Since he was already in Marineford, his life was safe.
If so, he would start from the bottom, building a solid foundation for his body.
Both the Six Powers and Haki required high physical fitness. He might as well train with them if he had nothing else to do.
Brushing off the dust from his pants, Foxy ran towards the training ground. He joined the familiar marines, doing whatever they did. Within minutes, he was sweating and panting heavily.
Their training was systematic, much more effective than his haphazard exercises in the village.
Thus, Foxy slowly integrated, training diligently from dawn till dusk, driven by the intense experiences of recent days. He knew that sweating more now would mean bleeding less in the future.
Three more days passed, making it six days since Foxy arrived in Marineford.
No one had approached him during these six days. Although Foxy’s face showed nothing, he constantly cursed Crane internally, venting his anger through intense training.
Unbeknownst to him, his every move was being reported to Crane daily.
Fortunately, Foxy only cursed internally. On the surface, he appeared diligent, following the Marines’ routines, giving the impression of being hardworking.
He maintained good manners, worked hard, and got along well with many marines, especially those he had saved. This earned him their support rather than bullying.
That night, under a starry sky with a cool breeze, Foxy finished his day’s training, took a bath, and returned to the dorm with his washbasin and towel.
He greeted familiar and unfamiliar marines along the way, having already started adapting to this lifestyle six days earlier.
Meanwhile, in the area where naval officers lived, Crane smiled as she looked at the report.
You Fei, standing beside her, also smiled.
“This kid hasn’t sought you or me out in these six days? No complaints? Instead, he’s been training with the others?”
Crane’s eyes were full of satisfaction. Indeed, she had deliberately left Foxy to test him.
Initially, she had forgotten about him for a day due to her injuries and some administrative tasks.
Once she remembered, Crane decided to test him for a few more days.
“Yes, except for the first day when he seemed a bit lost.”
You Fei nodded, then hesitated. “Vice Admiral, Foxy has great potential. Should we leave him in the training ground?”
“Go rest.”
Crane didn’t answer directly.
“Yes, ma’am.”
After Ya Fei left, Crane had made up her mind.
The next morning, Foxy and the other marines woke up, had breakfast, and headed to the training ground.
A lieutenant led the training. When he saw a teenager among the adults, he didn’t chase Foxy away but trained him equally.
Someone had given instructions.
A small meeting was held in Fleet Admiral Kong’s office in the headquarters building, attended by Sengoku, Zephyr, and Crane. Garp was likely already at Impel Down, the world’s first prison, escorting the Red Count with Sakazuki, Borsalino, Kuzan, and other officers.
Kong and the others discussed pirate-related issues, such as Whitebeard’s movements, Big Mom, and Kaido of the Beasts.
It was a routine meeting. With the Red Count captured Kong felt much less pressure.
The annoying officials in the Holy Land had also shifted their attention, and everything was back on track.
“If there’s nothing else, let’s adjourn.”
Sitting behind his desk, Kong looked at the three.
They left the office together, but Crane stopped Zephyr outside.
Dressed in his tight combat uniform and navy coat, Zephyr’s muscular arms radiated explosive strength.
“Little Crane, what’s up?”
Zephyr looked puzzled.
“I met a promising kid on my last mission. I’d like you to mentor him.”
Crane spoke frankly.
“If you’re impressed, he must be remarkable.”
Sengoku, who hadn’t left yet, was curious.
“No problem. I’ll be in Marineford for a while. Tell me about him.”
Zephyr didn’t refuse. He often trained recruits at the academy in his free time.
“His name is Foxy, 14 years old, a Devil Fruit user…”
As Crane described him, both Zephyr and Sengoku grew increasingly surprised.
“If he’s as you say, this kid is indeed impressive.”
Zephyr trusted Crane’s judgment, feeling this kid was a good fit for him.
Even Sengoku was intrigued.
Foxy’s background was clean. He was polite, had a sense of justice and courage, a good Devil Fruit ability, and was hardworking with great potential.
