One Piece Admiral Silver Fox - Chapter 46
The starry sky was clear, and the night was as fantastic as water. Sitting by the campfire, with the aroma of tonight’s dinner wafting from the grill, Foxy took a rare break from developing his Devil Fruit abilities, resting for the short time it took for the meat to cook.
Lying on the ground, Foxy rested his hands behind his head and crossed his legs, gazing at the sky. Tonight’s weather was excellent, with stars dotting the sky, a crescent moon hanging high, and an occasional shooting star streaking across. The starry sky in this world was more transparent and more beautiful than the one in his previous world.
“Ah…” Foxy sighed for some unknown reason, feeling slightly stifled in his heart. The smell of burnt meat reached his nose, and he quickly got up to turn the meat, shaking off the thoughts in his head. He resumed his unchanging routine of developing his Devil Fruit abilities.
Time, she slipped away unnoticed.
A figure flashed continuously in the thunderstorm zone, and the dense lightning seemingly did not affect him. With his eyes closed, Foxy could sense the lightning’s trajectory and use Shave to dodge it, appearing almost ghostly.
During the entire morning, if ten thousand bolts of lightning struck, Foxy managed to dodge half of them. Most importantly, it seemed Foxy was intentionally getting struck by lightning. Despite his body twitching, smoking, and going numb, he showed no intention of leaving the lightning zone.
There were only five days left until the two months ended.
While training with lightning, Foxy discovered that being struck by lightning could indeed strengthen his body. Though it was excruciating, his physical condition improved the next day. He guessed that the lightning stimulated his cells, causing this effect. So, for the past few days, he would let himself be struck by lightning after exhausting his stamina. The pain was unbearable, but he endured it to grow stronger.
He felt his body becoming more muscular, albeit slowly but surely making progress.
Of course, the lightning he endured was not lethal, only painful. During this time, he had a basic grasp of Shave, and his physical condition significantly improved from when he first arrived on the island. He also made significant progress in developing his Devil Fruit abilities.
These achievements were expected, but one thing filled Foxy with joy and disbelief.
He might have awakened Observation Haki.
Yes, Observation Haki. Foxy wasn’t sure if it was Observation Haki because he felt a sense of danger when struck by lightning and knew where the attack was coming from. To confirm, he blindfolded his right eye and hunted for his meals. As soon as he entered the jungle, he could sense many presences and even identify creatures preparing to attack him.
However, this sense needed to be more consistent, making Foxy doubt whether it was Observation Haki. After all, it felt a lot like intuition. His understanding of Observation Haki came from anime, which suggested it could predict attacks, sense life forms, and discern enemies’ positions, numbers, and intentions outside of sight. It also required calmness to use, becoming ineffective when emotional or irrational.
Foxy wondered if this was a benefit of his transmigration. Perhaps his mental strength was more muscular, or his senses more acute because of it. Transmigrators were usually granted some kind of advantage. He had yet to see a golden finger, but there should be some essential benefits, right?
He had been in this world for almost six months, yet no golden finger or benefits had appeared, making it hard for him to accept. So he prayed that this was indeed Observation Haki. He couldn’t wait to finish his training and ask Zephyr about it.
After completing a day’s training at night, Foxy dragged his exhausted body back to the cave. After developing his Devil Fruit abilities, he made a decision. Regardless of whether he had awakened Observation Haki, he would spend the last five days with his right eye covered, mimicking Rayleigh’s training of Luffy, believing that perseverance would lead to success.
The next day, Foxy decisively covered his right eye and even his blind left eye. He stepped out of the cave, breathing in the fresh air, feeling enthusiastic.
Without fail, he completed his basic training, which was followed by being struck by lightning, then heading to the island’s center to find large creatures to train with.
Familiar with the routine, Foxy walked towards the river to wash up, feeling like a wild man but still wanting to wash his face. He knew the path well, even the stones along the way.
But…
“Splash…”
He tripped and fell, clutching his forehead and groaning. He reached to remove the cloth but stopped halfway, slapping the ground and standing up to continue.
Stumbling along, Foxy gradually got the hang of it. After washing up, he returned to the cave clearing to train basic movements.
Foxy could do 4,000 push-ups without pressure, having increased from 2,500 before arriving on the island. In two months, he had risen by 1,500. Other exercises, like sit-ups, lifting rocks while squatting, and finger push-ups, also increased by at least 500.
He had also successfully trained Shave and possibly awakened Observation Haki.
The most significant gains were in his physical strength and the development of his Devil Fruit abilities.
All these improvements resulted from countless efforts and perseverance over the past two months. Foxy had not wasted a single minute.
But it wasn’t enough. Those with higher talent than Foxy would become even stronger in the same two months, possibly putting in more effort.
Meanwhile, on other islands…
A fierce Tyrannosaurus fought an enormous carnivorous dinosaur, claws, jaws, and tails clashing, neither giving way. Blood splattered, revealing deep wounds that slowly healed.
A thirty-meter-tall brown bear, its chest pierced by green spikes, revealed a thin material layer on the spike’s tip.
On a snowy island, a thirty-meter-long crocodile was being swung by its tail by a pair of long arms, shaking the ground.
