One Piece Admiral Silver Fox - Chapter 54
“What’s going on?”
Foxy looked around, rubbing his temples as his head throbbed. He realized he was on the training field.
“So, you guys went drinking last night without inviting me or Hina.”
Not far away, Gasparde, Shuzo, Shuuen, and Berry Good were sprawled out on the ground. Drake kicked each of them, his face full of anger.
“Attack!”
“Who?”
The kicks woke everyone up, their instincts from two months of harsh survival on a dangerous island, sharpening their alertness.
“Ouch, my back.”
“And my butt.”
As soon as they woke up, Shuzo, Shuuen, and Berry Good were wincing in pain.
Turning to look at their backs, they saw their clothes were shredded, full of cuts and scrapes.
“You guys fought last night? But these don’t look like fight wounds!”
Drake examined their injuries like Sherlock Holmes.
“Gasparde, Foxy.”
Three pairs of angry eyes turned to Gasparde and Foxy.
Gasparde maintained a calm demeanor, though his eyes flickered slightly. Foxy’s face, however, stiffened.
“I vaguely remember being dragged on the ground last night.”
“Me too.”
“We had no choice. You three were dead drunk, so Gasparde and I had to drag you back.”
Foxy’s mouth felt bitter and dry, a clear sign of a hangover.
“But did you have to drag us? Do you know how far the academy is from there?”
Looking at his torn-up back, Berry Good sucked in a breath.
“You didn’t die, did you? You were out like logs.” Gasparde stood up, his head aching, too.
“Bad friends.”
Despite their complaints, none of them were furious. For them, these injuries were minor.
“Stop arguing and go wash up. We planned to go out together today, remember?”
Hina, wearing a blue floral dress and a ponytail, looked cute and eager to go out.
“Let’s go.”
Foxy took a deep breath, feeling somewhat better.
“You didn’t invite me for drinks, and we ended up sleeping on the training field, tsk tsk…”
Walking with disdain, Drake still held some resentment.
“With all that talk, we could have invited you, but you wouldn’t have come out anyway,” Berry Good retorted, spitting on the ground.
“Says who? If you had invited me, I would have come.”
“Next time, next time.”
Shuuen waved dismissively, sounding insincere.
“Damn it.”
Drake gritted his teeth, wanting to throttle them all.
Sabaody Archipelago is located near the Red Line in the middle of the Grand Line. The islands were formed by massive trees whose roots served as the ground, producing bubbles from the surface.
Due to its strategic location and unique environment, the archipelago was bustling with activity.
The island group consisted of 79 trees, each with towns and facilities, collectively known as the Sabaody Archipelago.
Bubble cars, bubble Ferris wheels, and houses built on bubbles—bubble culture permeated every part of Sabaody.
As the gateway to the New World, it was a gathering place for pirates, merchants, and bounty hunters.
Human trafficking and bounty hunting were rampant, with the trade of humans, mermaids, and fishermen being tacitly allowed, making the island corrupt.
Most importantly, the archipelago was close to Marine Headquarters and the Red Line, so the Celestial Dragons, the world’s most outstanding scum, would occasionally visit to flaunt their power.
In the 13th district of Sabaody, on the outskirts of the central city, there was a bar named “Shakky’s Rip-Off Bar.”
The bar had not been open long and needed regular customers. It was almost deserted.
Tables and chairs were neatly arranged, and behind the bar stood a mature woman smoking a cigarette and polishing glasses.
With short black hair, she wore a spider-patterned shirt, and her refined features gave off a solid and capable vibe.
She seemed unfazed by the bar’s poor business.
Just then, the doorbell jingled, and a young man with red hair and a straw hat walked in.
He looked very young, dressed in a white shirt and knee-length pants, with flip-flops on his feet and a sword at his side.
“Welcome.”
Blowing out a smoke ring, Shakky looked at the door and smiled when she saw who it was. “Oh, it’s little Shanks.”
“Hi, Aunt Shakky.”
Shanks, used to Shakky calling him “little Shanks,” didn’t mind.
“What would you like to drink?”
“Aunt Shakky, I don’t have any Berries.”
Scratching his head, Shanks looked at her nervously.
“What?”
Shakky’s expression darkened, and she narrowed her eyes at Shanks, making his heart skip a beat.
“You came to my bar with no money and expect a free drink?”
Flicking her cigarette, Shakky leaned on the bar, her ample bosom pressing against it, looking quite displeased.
“Put it on my tab. I promise I’ll pay next time.”
Sweat beaded on Shanks’ forehead, his smile looking more like a grimace.
“If you dare come here without money again, I’ll throw you out myself. Even that old man Rayleigh won’t be able to vouch for you.”
“Yes, yes!”
Laughing sheepishly, it was hard to believe that the future legendary Red-Haired Shanks was once scolded like this.
“Shakky, did you call me?”
A figure emerged from a side room, wearing round glasses and messy blonde hair.
“Vice-Captain.”
Shanks greeted the man excitedly.
“You’re actually home?”
Shakky seemed surprised as if Rayleigh being home was a rare event.
“I’m out of Berries. I was planning to sell myself tomorrow.”
“You old fool.”
Shakky’s face darkened further, clearly annoyed.
“Shanks, you’re early. The Captain won’t be here for a few more days.”
Sitting beside Shanks, Rayleigh gestured to Shakky. “Shakky, bring some drinks.”
“Vice-Captain, the Captain is really coming back?”
Unable to hide his excitement, Shanks looked at Rayleigh with burning eyes.
“Why else would I have notified you?”
Rayleigh took Shakky’s drink without looking back, his expression serious.
“Vice-Captain, why did you notify me? The Captain disbanded the crew, and we don’t even know where everyone is.”
Shanks’ mood dropped, feeling low.
“I notified Buggy too, but that guy’s off treasure hunting again.”
“Buggy… I haven’t seen him in a long time.”
Shanks’ eyes showed longing.
“Vice-Captain, why did the Captain disband us? We could have continued our adventures.”
Shanks’ voice was filled with confusion and frustration.
“There were unavoidable reasons.” Rayleigh took a deep sip of his drink and sighed heavily.
“Is it because of the Captain’s illness? Didn’t Crocus say there are many Devil Fruits that could cure him?”
“Even if there was a way, the Captain wouldn’t take it.”
Rayleigh’s eyes reflected his helplessness.
“Why?”
Shanks’ eyes reddened, and he slammed his fist on the table.
“You’ll understand someday.”
Gritting his teeth, Shanks clenched his fists in anger.
Shanks is 37 years old, twenty years later, excluding Luffy’s two-year training. So, twenty years back, he’s 17.
If the records didn’t say so, I would have doubted it. At this point, Shanks is only 17. Damn.
This highlights his extraordinary talent.
