One Piece Admiral Silver Fox - Chapter 63
The sky was clear, and the turbulent waves of the sea remained daunting. After staying at the base for three days, Foxy set out once again. During his time there, he had been under Tsuru’s tutelage but had to leave due to a mission, as the warship had been repaired.
In those three days, Foxy trained tirelessly, but he still hadn’t mastered the Finger Gun (Shigan). On the warship, Foxy looked at the receding fortress with a sigh. If possible, he would have preferred to stay and fully learn the Finger Gun, but the timing didn’t allow it.
This time, he was out on a patrol mission with Captain Gott Di. If not for this, he would have already left the day before.
Turning his gaze back to the endless sea, Foxy’s eyes were resolute. Although he hadn’t fully learned the Finger Gun, he had memorized everything about it. With time and effort, mastering it was only a matter of time.
Taking a deep breath, Foxy began training as if no one else was around. Some of the marines on the deck glanced at him with envy in their eyes.
Ten days passed quickly. During this time, they encountered three pirate crews, all small fry with bounties under 40 million berries. Whenever they faced pirates, Foxy was the first to charge, provided the pirate crew wasn’t too dangerous. Through constant battles, Foxy gradually matured, and he also began to grasp the basics of the Finger Gun, although it was still weak.
When he first managed to pierce the ship’s cabin with ease, he was exhilarated. Despite the initial disappointment of not awakening Armament Haki, the success with the Finger Gun was thrilling.
With the Finger Gun now at a basic level, Foxy began to work on changing his orchid finger stance, although progress was slow.
“Captain Gott Di, what can I do for you?” Foxy asked.
“Sergeant Foxy, we will reach the Kingdom of Alabasta in a day for supplies. After that, we will head back, and this mission will be over,” Gott Di said with a broad smile.
“Alabasta?” Foxy was momentarily confused and then frowned. “We’ve only been out for half a month…”
Foxy didn’t want to return yet; it felt like the time had flown by too quickly.
“Training trips for academy cadets are always like this. I’m just a captain. After this trip, the next training mission will be longer. By then, you might be going out with a major general from headquarters,” Gott Di explained.
“Ah, I see!” Foxy understood now. This trip was more about gaining initial experience and familiarity with the sea, with the real training to come later.
“The Kingdom of Alabasta, that’s the desert kingdom, right?”
“Yes,” Gott Di replied, somewhat surprised that Foxy knew about the kingdom.
Foxy pondered. Since the Seven Warlords of the Sea hadn’t been established yet, Crocodile shouldn’t be there. He might be in the New World, preparing to clash with Whitebeard.
Leaving the office, Foxy returned to the deck to continue his training. Alabasta or not, it had little to do with him. He focused on training and fighting pirates whenever they encountered them.
Whether it was Foxy’s imagination or not, he felt that the temperature had risen since entering this sea area. The blazing sun seemed more intense, but this minor discomfort was insignificant to Foxy.
Sweating heavily, Foxy took off his shirt, revealing some scars as he practised finger stands to strengthen his fingers.
Not long after Foxy started training, five cute, turtle-like creatures suddenly leapt from the sea onto the deck.
“These guys again?”
“Kung Fu Dugongs,” the surrounding marines whispered, keeping their distance.
The lead Kung Fu Dugong was noticeably stronger than the others, and its small eyes scanned around before locking onto Foxy with a gleam.
Breathing heavily from his training, Foxy noticed the sudden shade and saw a yellow fishtail in his line of sight. With a burst of strength, he flipped backwards, landing and looking at the eager creatures in front of him.
“Moo… Moo…” The Kung Fu Dugong clasped its hands together, speaking in an unintelligible language.
Foxy found it bizarre. Were sea creatures this bold nowadays, willingly coming aboard and bowing? It looked familiar.
“Sergeant Foxy, be careful. These are Kung Fu Dugongs, a species native to the waters around Alabasta. They love martial arts and enjoy challenging people. If they lose, they’ll pledge loyalty to their victor,” a marine warned his expression a mix of anger and helplessness, indicating he had been defeated by them before.
“Kung Fu Dugongs?” Foxy remembered now. If he wasn’t mistaken, Luffy would later recruit a group of these little guys. Notably, they could even use Armament Haki.
This world was indeed strange, with many strong figures having their unique pets—like Sengoku’s goat, Kuzan’s penguin, and Rob Lucci’s pigeon. Even the Straw Hat Pirates had a reindeer that doubled as both food reserve and pet.
“Be careful, Sergeant Foxy. They’re quite strong. Even Captain Gott Di has lost to them before,” the marine whispered cautiously.
“Are they that tough?” Foxy was sceptical.
“Moo… Moo…” The Kung Fu Dugong clasped its hands again, seemingly challenging Foxy.
Though he couldn’t understand the language, Foxy could tell they wanted a fight.
“Alright, let’s see what you’ve got,” Foxy said, getting into a fighting stance.
The lead Kung Fu Dugong’s eyes lit up as it nodded and then adopted a serious expression.
With a swift movement, the Dugong closed the distance between them in an instant, its small fist creating a whooshing sound.
“Boom!” Their fists collided, and Foxy’s initially casual demeanour changed instantly. It felt like being hit by a speeding train, sending him flying into the ship’s cabin, dazed.
“Moo… Moo…” The Dugong celebrated, flexing its muscles and striking a fighting pose.
Getting up, Foxy could still feel the sting in his hand. He realized he couldn’t underestimate these creatures—they had real skills.
It seemed the marine was right. Even Captain Gott Di had been bested by them.
