One Piece Admiral Silver Fox - Chapter 68
In Alabasta’s endless desert, the scorching sun released its intense heat, causing ripples in the atmosphere.
“Dadadada…”
At that moment, a yellow streak of lightning flashed across the horizon.
“Quack…”
Zooming in, we see a duck carrying a human on its back. The duck’s speed remained undeterred by the various slopes and obstacles, moving as if it were gliding on flat ground, getting faster and faster.
After half a month of rest, Foxy had mostly recovered from his injuries.
During this time, Foxy realized that Donald Duck was no ordinary duck.
Firstly, this creature wasn’t even fully grown yet and had the intelligence of an eight or nine-year-old human child. Not only could it understand human speech, but it could also perform various actions that defied common duck behaviour.
Setting aside its mutated claws that could easily leave deep scratches on rocks, its wings could function like human hands, extremely dexterous.
Moreover, its running speed was akin to a rocket’s, disappearing in a flash. It could run on water, and obstacles like mountains meant nothing to it.
Through their interactions, Donald Duck told Foxy that it had eaten a very bitter fruit when it was young, which caused these changes and led to its expulsion from its flock.
Foxy speculated that it might be a Devil Fruit, although Donald Duck couldn’t specify which one. It quacked and gestured in a way Foxy couldn’t understand.
“Quack…”
Kicking up sand, Donald Duck came to a stop in front of a specific sandy area, and Foxy dismounted, looking around the seemingly ordinary desert before turning to Donald Duck. “You go wander around, come back to get me later.”
“Quack…”
Donald Duck nodded and dashed off, its plump behind swaying as it disappeared into the distance.
Taking a deep breath, Foxy activated his Observation Haki, closed his right eye, and stepped into the desert.
At first, nothing happened. The desert remained a desert, with occasional hot winds blowing by.
But as Foxy ventured thirty or forty meters in, the previously calm desert erupted into chaos. A gaping mouth filled with sharp teeth emerged from the sand, aiming to devour Foxy.
Unfazed, Foxy moved to the left, evading the monstrous mouth effortlessly.
And this was just the beginning. Another largemouth lunged at Foxy from the ground.
“Bang! Bang!”
As Foxy ventured deeper into the desert, more and more sharp-toothed jaws appeared, belonging to giant lizards.
These were Sandora Lizards, apex predators of the Alabasta desert, known for ambushing from beneath the sand. Their monstrous jaws could easily crush steel, and their claws could tear through rocks.
Adult lizards ranged from twenty to thirty meters long and were extremely ferocious.
This desert was their territory, a nest filled with Sandora Lizards.
Foxy had come here many times, with a clear purpose: to train.
Moving with ease, Foxy walked calmly through this death zone, honing his Observation Haki further.
Under the scorching sun, with temperatures reaching fifty to sixty degrees Celsius, Foxy felt no discomfort, having already adapted during his time on a windless island.
Though Foxy’s physique hadn’t reached monstrous levels, it was far stronger than an average human’s.
In this vast sea, which strong warrior didn’t have a monstrous physique?
Foxy immersed himself in training, realizing from his recent life-and-death experience that his efforts and sweat were far from enough. He had to become stronger, stronger than anyone else.
In the face of true powerhouses, he hadn’t even had the chance to use his Devil Fruit ability. Previously, Foxy had been somewhat arrogant, believing that his Slow-Slow Fruit granted him invincibility.
Even if it didn’t make him invincible, he thought it could at least ensure his survival. But reality had harshly taught him otherwise, shattering his deepest arrogance with brutal clarity.
He was too weak.
Sweating profusely, time flew by.
At some point, Donald Duck returned from the horizon, seeing Foxy still training. The duck sat on the sand, sipping water from the small bucket around its neck, watching Foxy with its round eyes.
This desert had long been conquered by Donald Duck. The lizard couldn’t even touch its tail, as it was the fastest creature in this land.
“Boom…”
Finishing his Haki training, Foxy stretched his body, and grabbed a lizard by the tail, effortlessly lifting it and swinging it around. Wherever it struck, lizards were sent flying, crashing into the sand with pained roars.
“We’ll have this for dinner tonight!”
Dragging two half-dead lizards, Foxy approached Donald Duck with a grin.
“Quack… quack…”
Donald Duck stood up, shaking its head vigorously, its eyes filled with disdain.
They had been eating lizard meat for several days and were getting sick of it.
Oddly enough, Donald Duck wasn’t picky, eating almost anything and in large quantities. A thirty-meter lizard could be half-consumed by the duck, while Foxy needed at least one and a half to be satisfied.
During his severe injuries, the bread barely kept Foxy alive. Once he regained his strength, he devoured three lizards to feel full, leaving Donald Duck dumbfounded.
“Are you tired of lizard meat?”
Seeing Donald Duck shake its head, Foxy pondered. “But there’s no other food around. I’m not fully recovered yet, so it’s not suitable to head to Alabasta.”
Sniffing, Donald Duck pointed in a direction with its wing and quacked, looking adorably silly.
I must say, Donald Duck was quite good-looking.
“Is there something good to eat that way?”
Looking in the direction Donald Duck pointed, Foxy dropped the lizard’s tail and climbed onto the duck’s back. “Let’s go where you suggest. I’m tired of lizard meat too. A change of taste would be nice.”
“Quack…”
Like a bolt of lightning, Donald Duck sped off, disappearing over the horizon.
The two half-dead lizards quickly burrowed into the sand in a panic, unlikely to resurface anytime soon.
Riding on Donald Duck’s back, Foxy listened to the wind rushing by and watched the fleeting scenery. The speed was incredible.
It was almost as fast as a jet fighter. Any faster, and it would be supersonic!
After running for about ten minutes, covering seventy to eighty kilometres, they arrived at an area filled with various cacti and barren plants. Donald Duck flapped its wings and quacked.
Landing, Foxy didn’t hesitate to step into the area. But as soon as he did, a pair of giant pincers attacked. A massive crab, covered in sand, appeared, easily over twenty to thirty meters long.
“This will make a great dinner.”
Licking his lips, Foxy didn’t expect a crab. He instantly appeared in front of the giant crab, kicking it hard. The crab was sent flying away.
