Chapter 245: Killing “Champion” Jesus Burgess
“Captain?!”
“He’s… dead?!”
The members of the Blackbeard Pirates were all dumbfounded, especially Shiryu. He believed that someone like Blackbeard could make a difference, so he abandoned Impel Down and came to Marineford with him. He thought he would witness the rise of the Blackbeard legend. But he never expected…
Blackbeard was killed by a Marine in such a humiliating manner. Shiryu’s face turned gloomy, and his mind went blank.
Because of his association with Blackbeard, he too became a criminal, not to mention the other escaped prisoners from Impel Down. They were all bewildered by the unexpected turn of events. And the worst part…
They were now trapped in Marineford, surrounded by Marines and warships. Sengoku’s recent display of power was overwhelming. It seemed impossible to escape from this situation. Despair began to grip the hearts of every pirate, an unprecedented feeling.
“Captain…”
“Champion” Jesus Burgess was furious. He kicked hard, ignoring the pain in his body, and charged straight at Solo, seeking revenge for the fallen Blackbeard.
“For our captain!”
Although Jesus Burgess wasn’t the strongest among the Blackbeard Pirates, he was the most loyal to Blackbeard, and that’s why he held the position of captain.
However, not to mention Jesus Burgess’ current state, even if it were Burgess two years from now, Solo wouldn’t take him seriously. The difference in strength between them was simply enormous.
“Go to hell!”
Jesus Burgess roared, his clenched fists aiming at Solo’s face and striking with all his might. The veins on his muscles bulged, and a tremendous power surged forth. This punch could instantly kill a cow.
Yet, in the face of Jesus Burgess’ rage, Solo remained calm and didn’t bother evading. He slowly raised his arm and placed his palm against Burgess’ fist. In an instant, his palm was covered in black Armament Haki, ready to receive Burgess’ furious punch.
Rumble!
A deafening noise echoed in Burgess’ ears. However, it was Burgess’ face that gradually turned pale, disbelief filling his eyes.
He never imagined that Solo’s palm would feel like an unyielding wall, blocking all his strength. This was the punch he threw with his full strength in an enraged state, and yet it failed to deliver any significant damage to Solo. He couldn’t comprehend it.
Why was this man in front of him so incredibly strong? This was only the beginning. Not only did Suo Luo effortlessly withstand Burgess’ power, but after a brief moment of silence, a shockwave surged back toward Badgers.
Crack, crack…
Burgess felt a sharp pain in his arm as if the bones within were shattered by a mighty force. His face contorted, and he gritted his teeth. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
And then, in the next moment…
Burgess, like a broken kite, was sent flying backward, crashing hard onto the ground and rolling several times before coming to a stop. He couldn’t comprehend what had just happened. Solo didn’t even use the power of Tremor Tremor Fruit. He simply relied on his physical skills to overpower him.
“This… it’s impossible,” Burgess clenched his teeth. Although he witnessed Solo using Armament Haki, he was confident in his own physical abilities. How could he be defeated by a seemingly ordinary Marine?
“Just starting with you, Burgess,” Solo’s voice approached as he walked closer. Gripping the Sakura wood tightly with one
hand and enveloping it in Armament Haki, Suo Luo instilled fear in Burgess’ heart. He couldn’t understand the strength possessed by the Marine before him.
“No, stay away,” Burgess muttered nervously, his throat dry.
But as he attempted to retreat out of fear, he suddenly realized that the impact from their previous collision didn’t just shatter his arm.
His internal organs and joints were also affected to varying degrees. He couldn’t even stand up, let alone escape from Solo.
Watching Solo drawing closer, Burgess felt that it wasn’t just a Marine approaching him. It was a formidable force. The other members of the Blackbeard Pirates also watched with conflicting emotions.
Although Solo appeared as an ordinary Lieutenant, his displayed strength was astonishing. He had the upper hand against Shiryu and effortlessly killed Blackbeard. And now, he sent Burgess flying with a single blow. His strength was almost on par with Sengoku.
Especially for the prisoners who escaped from Impel Down, didn’t hold any attachment to Blackbeard but saw Solo as ambitious and capable.
Following him might be a better option. Their decision to leave Impel Down was based on that assumption, but now they realized that this Marine wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
Soon, the distance between Solo and Badgers was less than three meters, and Solo showed no intention of showing mercy. He raised his blade, aimed at Burgess’ vital point, and swiftly brought down the blade.
Whoosh!
A cold gleam flashed as the sword’s energy spread, cutting Burgess’ body in two, and beheading him on the spot.
