Chapter 248: Ace, Do You Think You Can Leave?
Even though Ace desired to avenge Whitebeard, he knew deep down that the current situation was not the right time for revenge. Furthermore, he and Marco alone were not capable of defeating Solo. In the overall battle, the Marines had the upper hand.
Kizaru, Aokiji, and countless Vice Admirals possessed formidable combat power. Escaping and finding Solo would be extremely difficult. Even a moment of hesitation could make it impossible to escape.
Starting with Marco saving Ace, numerous Vice Admirals closed in on them. Thanks to Marco’s incredible strength, he managed to fend them off one by one. However, the situation remained unfavorable.
Moreover, Ace was not alone. His companions from the Whitebeard Pirates were there, and his brother Luffy was also present. Ace didn’t want to endanger his brother any further.
Frustrated, Ace clenched his teeth and temporarily suppressed the hatred burning in his heart. He vowed to become stronger one day and settle the score with Suo Luo.
Garp, hailed as a Marine Hero, silently observed the events from a high vantage point. As the grandfather of Ace and Luffy, he couldn’t help but be somewhat biased. He hoped his two grandchildren would be able to leave Marineford and return to the sea.
In the original plotline, Garp had lost control and desired to kill Akainu after Ace’s demise. Sengoku had to restrain him at a critical moment.
From his position, Garp marveled at the increasing terror of Suo Luo, considering if there was any limit to his physical strength. Rather than pursuing Ace and Luffy, Garp chose to remain and assist Sengoku in overseeing the situation. His attention was captivated by Solo.
Garp understood that the Blackbeard Pirate Group as a whole was not weak; their strength was formidable. The escaped prisoners from Impel Down had previously given headaches to the World Government, and even Vice Admirals couldn’t handle them.
Particularly, Shiryu of Rain, one of Impel Down’s chief guards, possessed impressive swordsmanship and physical abilities, comparable to Magellan without Devil Fruit powers.
During Shiryu’s fight against Solo, Garp witnessed his outstanding swordsmanship, physical prowess, and mastery of Haki. He regarded Shiryu as one of the best in the sea, capable of leading a crew of troublemakers. Consequently, Blackbeard couldn’t be weak either.
Even while Gol D. Roger was alive, Blackbeard had joined the Whitebeard Pirates. And now, he had captured Ace, which indicated his strength.
As for Solo’s side, they had confronted formidable opponents such as Vista, Hawkeye, Jimbei, Jozu, and even Whitebeard himself. Considering this, Solo should have depleted his strength to overcome these powerful adversaries.
Faced with the menacing and peak strength of the Blackbeard Pirates, Solo shouldn’t have had much chance of winning. However, the reality was quite the opposite. Garp couldn’t help but wonder if there was truly no limit to Solo’s physical strength.
Simultaneously, Garp had several hunches in his heart. Knowing Solo’s character, he suspected that Solo wouldn’t let them go so easily. Garp’s eyes widened when he realized that Solo was the one who had captured Luffy.
He quickly turned to Ace, realizing that despite their efforts to escape, they hadn’t gone far. To reach their pirate ship, they would need to at least reach the lake, and the Marines were trying their hardest to stop them. In other words, Solo could catch up with Ace within minutes.
Garp clenched his teeth, gasping with determination. If Solo decided to kill the pirates and take the lives of his two grandsons, what should he do? This thought lingered in his mind.
Just then, Garp noticed that Solo had disappeared from sight. Perona, Robin, Smoker, and Tashigi, who were nearby, had also witnessed Solo’s astounding performance. They were in disbelief and couldn’t comprehend what was happening.
Smoker and Tashigi, in particular, were stunned. They couldn’t fathom how the Blackbeard Pirates, who were notorious and dangerous criminals, seemed defenseless against Solo.
Smoker found it hard to believe that even the weakest member of the Blackbeard Pirates couldn’t be defeated by him. Their vulnerability in front of Solo was unbelievable.
Smoker then realized that Solo had disappeared from his sight. He wondered if he was hallucinating. Perona and Robin, who were more familiar with Solo’s strength, weren’t as surprised.
Meanwhile, Garp continued to observe, captivated by Solo’s actions and movements. At an incredible speed, he appeared directly in front of Ace and others.
“Ace, Luffy, and Marco.”
Solo took a deep breath, the corners of his mouth raised, and a smile appeared.
“I haven’t said that, will I allow you to leave?”
Among these three people, one is the blood of Roger. One is the son of the Dragon of the Revolutionary Army, and even the future Pirate King. One is the second person of the Whitebeard Pirates. If he let them return to the sea, it will cause more trouble. Besides, as a Marine, how could he let these pirates go here?
“Damn it, still caught up.” Marco’s face suddenly turned pale.
For some reason, he didn’t feel that Solo had caught up with them. It was a surprise.
“Ace, and Ace’s brother, leave it to me here.”
At the critical moment, Marco stood up decisively and planned to intercept Solo himself. Create an opportunity to leave here for Ace and Luffy. At the same time, the pirates who noticed this situation also rushed back.
