One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 10
Though Aokiji often appeared lazy, his temperament allowed him to grasp the subtleties of orders. He typically executed Sengoku’s commands with precision, avoiding unnecessary complications. Additionally, being younger than Kizaru and Akainu by two classes, Aokiji lacked some military accolades needed for future promotion to admiral. Hence, Sengoku’s decision to send Aokiji was multifaceted—an appropriate warning, further honing Aokiji’s skills and accruing military merits.
Despite his complaints about bothersome tasks, Aokiji didn’t shirk his duty. He stood up, ready to leave, viewing a bike ride on the sea and defeating some pirates as a pleasant voyage. At this stage in his career, Aokiji still admired Garp and was content to follow orders.
“Wait,” Sengoku suddenly remembered something. “Since you’re heading out, take care of another matter. Ujimura recently captured a slave trafficking group but faced retaliation. Although they didn’t succeed, it’s a direct challenge to the Navy. Go with Ujimura and eradicate them!”
“Arara, Sengoku always finds more work for me,” Aokiji said, waving his hand but not objecting. With no pressing assignments, he preferred structured tasks over aimless patrols.
“I didn’t expect Admiral Sengoku to remember…” Ujimura, upon hearing the assignment, felt a surge of emotion. He knew Sengoku’s directive was considerate, pairing him with Aokiji for this mission. He had longed for revenge since their ambush, which resulted in a young boy falling into the dangerous island of Stomach Baron, his fate unknown.
The intense battle had forced their retreat due to ship damage and multiple enemy vessels, leaving them unable to search for the boy. Ujimura’s face darkened at the memory. The child was bright, hardworking, and praised for his medical talents, but he was now lost to the dangerous island.
“Alright, I know a child from your ship fell into Stomach Baron. This time, we’ll check on him. If he’s survived, he’s a promising recruit. Even if he’s not fit for combat, a talented doctor is worth the effort,” Aokiji yawned, showing his support.
“Thank you!” Ujimura’s face showed gratitude for understanding Aokiji’s intentions. Sengoku adjusted his glasses and instructed, “Aokiji, while you’re out, handle these tasks efficiently.”
“Ah~~ha~~ I don’t mind taking a warship,” Aokiji yawned, folding away his eyepatch as he led the eager Ujimura out. Ujimura didn’t suspect that Sengoku’s motives extended beyond this, aiming to help Aokiji develop his faction. Compared to Kizaru and Akainu, who had their respective “Neutral” and “Hawk” factions, Aokiji’s “Dove” faction, closely aligned with Garp, was relatively weak. Strengthening his faction with promising officers like Ujimura was crucial.
Meanwhile, Aburahamu Michion diligently explored the capabilities of the fruit he consumed. Though he had immense creativity, power, and stamina, they were essential for continuous trials that led to success.
“Power Aura.”
Unlike the previous green aura, this red one bestowed immense strength. The enhancement allowed Michion, even as a child, to wield a sword against those pesky man-eating plants. However, it also consumed a significant amount of stamina. Michion believed that with further development and training, the Power Aura’s stamina consumption would decrease, and its strength amplification would increase.
The real challenge lay not with the Aura Fruit but with the Plunder-Plunder Fruit. While the Aura Fruit’s development was straightforward for a gamer like Michion, the Plunder-Plunder Fruit required more exploration. Michion’s understanding of this fruit was based solely on the techniques shouted by the fat pirate who consumed it. Unlike the Aura Fruit, his comprehension was elementary.
A daring idea drove Michion’s decision to eat the unique Devil Fruit. Even if he only mastered the Aura and Plunder-Plunder fruits separately, he was confident he could elevate them to admiral or Yonko levels. However, his goal was to merge their abilities, creating a combined power exceeding the potential of either fruit alone. This ambition, if realized, would place him among the top-tier fighters, rivaling even the strongest admirals, and YonkoMichion felt confident when reflectingting on the formidable Shiki, who battled Roger and Whitebeard and was only captured after a joint effort by Garp and Sengoku that destroyed half of Marinedent. He believed he could face two admiral-level opponents without losing if he could achieve his envisioned power combination.
The task ahead was daunting, but Michion’s determination and innovative thinking drove him to pursue the ultimate mastery of his unique Devil Fruit powers.
