One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 15
“Devil Fruit!!”
“Ah la la, what a lucky kid,”
Upon hearing this, even the lazy Aokiji directed his attention toward Aburahamu Michion.
Hearing Aburahamu Michion’s words, Yokimura’s surprise overpowered his guilt. “Aburahamu Michion, you ate a Devil Fruit?”
“Yeah, it was a weird-colored, strange-patterned, really nasty fruit. I remembered the sailors talking about Devil Fruits during their training, but I thought it was just some exotic island fruit when I ate it,”
Aburahamu Michion said, grinning as he explained how he ate the fruit.
This was a common way many people accidentally ate Devil Fruits on the Grand Line.
Aburahamu Michion’s explanation was plausible. After all, this island had plenty of strange foods.
Revealing himself as a Devil Fruit user was to show his sincerity. Since he planned to join the navy, hiding his abilities was not an option.
Moreover, this would demonstrate his value, gaining the navy’s attention and better resources to become stronger.
“I can’t believe you accidentally ate a Devil Fruit on this island. What kind of ability do you have?” Yokimura asked curiously.
The previously indifferent Aokiji also perked up. Though Devil Fruits varied in strength and development potential, a powerful one always held more excellent value.
“I call it the Aura Fruit. It can enhance my strength, speed, and other attributes. And it seems like I can apply it to others as well,”
Aburahamu Michion explained, scratching his head with a smile. “But I’ve only tested it on those fat sea beasts, so I’m not sure if it really works on others.”
“Then why wait? Try it on me,” Yokimura said excitedly.
Such a support ability was scarce. If it could affect others, its value would increase exponentially!
Yokimura urged Aburahamu Michion to try his aura ability on both of them.
As the green aura enveloped them, even with their superhuman physiques, they could feel a slight lightness in their bodies.
The effect was minimal, almost negligible, but they could sense the influence on their bodies.
“Try it on them,”
Yokimura suggested, pointing to a nearby soldier. “Your current power is too low to affect us significantly.”
Understanding, Aburahamu Michion decided to use his strength-enhancing red aura, the “Red Ring.”
“This should make it easier for you to judge,” Aburahamu Michion said.
“Good idea,” Yokimura agreed, instructing the soldier to attack him.
“No need for that,” Aokiji said, creating two ice pillars. “Use your weapon to strike one before and after the enhancement.”
The soldier obeyed, striking the ice pillar. His sword only penetrated about a third of the way.
“Now, try with the enhancement,” Aokiji directed Aburahamu Michion.
With the red aura enveloping the soldier, he felt a surge of strength. This time, his strike penetrated halfway into the ice pillar.
“Ah la la, Yokimura, this kid’s ability is quite a surprise,” Aokiji noted, taking Aburahamu Michion more seriously.
Surviving on this dangerous island and resisting the lure of its food demonstrated strong willpower and the potential to become a mighty warrior.
His constant training likely enhanced his abilities significantly, providing a solid foundation far beyond those of his peers. Plus, he had experience battling wild beasts.
On top of that, he had consumed a highly valuable Devil Fruit.
His ability to create different types of enhancing auras indicated promising development. At the very least, he was a future Vice Admiral.
And not just any Vice Admiral, but one who could greatly amplify the combat capabilities of his allies.
The recent demonstration of his enhancing aura showed that such an augmentation could instantly turn the tide in battle.
Even though the current enhancement of someone like Aokiji was barely noticeable, the potential was undeniable.
Aokiji imagined a squad of Vice Admirals or even Admirals fighting an enemy and Aburahamu Michion’s aura breaking the stalemate.
At their level, any increase in power was significant.
Feeling excited, Aokiji suppressed his emotions, reverting to his usual laid-back demeanor.
After all, that was a concern for the future. For now, Aburahamu Michion was just a lucky kid who had eaten a mighty fruit.
Aokiji had seen many geniuses fail to reach the top due to various reasons: accidents, money, power, temptations, and so on. Some had abilities even stronger than Aburahamu Michion’s.
In the end, it wasn’t just the fruit that determined greatness. It was the person.
