One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 25
Time is the most potent force, and no one can resist its passage. Over the years, Michion has grown from a child into… well, still a child…
At the Navy Headquarters, the sun rises early, but the climate isn’t as hot as expected due to being in the New World. At this moment, it’s about three years before the start of the Great Pirate Era.
Michion has been at the Navy Headquarters for a year and a half. It is currently the year 1496 in the Circular Sea calendar. As time passed, various major events continued to unfold.
While Michion focused on his training, the atmosphere within the Navy grew increasingly tense due to the spread of news. Michion knew that the critical battle between Gol D. Roger and the Golden Lion, which would determine the outcome of their conflict—the Battle of Edd War—was about to commence.
It was evident that the atmosphere at the Navy Headquarters was no longer as leisurely as when Michion first arrived. There was a palpable heaviness in the air. Even the current Fleet Admiral, Kong, had stopped focusing on his future role as the Supreme Commander and began personally overseeing the Navy Headquarters.
When the intelligence officers in the New World relayed the latest information to the Navy Headquarters, an urgent alarm blared throughout the base.
“Fleet Admiral Kong! Roger and the Golden Lion have made contact at Edd War in the New World!”
The intelligence officer’s voice echoed through the ongoing Navy meeting as the alarm sounded.
“Look, the opportunity has arrived,” said Garp, grinning broadly upon hearing the news.
He stood up, ready to depart, his eagerness revealing how much he valued this chance to continue pursuing Roger.
At this time, Garp, still in his prime, was dressed in a black suit with a Vice Admiral’s cloak draped over his shoulders, exuding an overwhelming aura of power. His black hair and thick beard indicated that he was in the peak years of his life.
Before Garp could take a few steps, Fleet Admiral Kong’s voice rang out, “Stop right there, Garp. I haven’t finished talking.”
Garp turned back and closed the door, saying, “You haven’t finished, but I’ve heard enough.”
“Stay put, Garp!” Kong’s voice roared angrily as Garp continued leading his subordinates toward the docked warships.
“Mr. Garp, you declined a promotion again, didn’t you?” said a young Kuzan, dressed in a blue uniform, with his hands in his pockets, walking behind Garp without his usual lazy demeanor.
“If you want to be free, you don’t need a high rank,” Garp replied, laughing as he turned his head.
At this moment, Saul followed behind Tsuru, looking sleepy and yawning.
“Tsuru, once we set sail, give me a lift.”
“We haven’t received the order to depart yet. You’ll destroy the ship before we even start. I don’t want you on board,” Tsuru replied irritably.
“Don’t say that. Roger must be dealt with by me,” Garp laughed heartily.
“Garp, we’ve been assigned to handle the Golden Lion Shiki. You should head back,” said Sengoku, leaning on the ship’s railing, shouting to Garp. Behind him stood Borsalino, the future Admiral Kizaru, with a sly grin and a navy cap.
Garp raised his hand in greeting, excitedly saying to Sengoku, “Don’t worry, you can take all the credit.”
“That’s not what I meant!!” Sengoku shouted in frustration.
“Ha ha ha ha ha,” Garp’s laughter showed his joy at the chance to pursue his long-time rival, Roger.
“Oh? Both Admiral Sengoku and Vice Admiral Garp are heading out?” said Onigumo, standing on the deck with a cigar in his mouth, watching the scene with Doberman.
“After all, the opponent is Roger. Mr. Garp can’t just sit back,” Doberman sighed.
These two have been rivals since their youth, entangled in countless conflicts.
Meanwhile, in the New World, during the Edd War, two of the three great pirates met on the ocean.
“Captain Roger!!!!”
“Life is the most important thing. We should submit to the Golden Lion for now!!”
With a voice like a quacking duck, Buggy clutched his head, tears streaming down his face, looking utterly distraught.
At this time, Buggy hadn’t yet adopted his later appearance; he wore a black hat with a short layer of leopard print trim at the brim.
“You’re already invincible against cutting attacks. What are you worried about?” said a young Shanks, wearing a straw hat, trying to comfort him.
“I still have many weaknesses! You idiot!”
Buggy, panicked, his eyes bulging, turned to the ship’s doctor, asking anxiously, “Dr. Crocus, how is the captain’s condition?!”
Running to Crocus with tears, Buggy pleaded, “If he’s not fit for battle, as the doctor, you must stop him.”
“Unfortunately, he’s in excellent condition,” Crocus replied, twirling a harpoon in his hand and performing a few thrusts with a backup spear slung over his shoulder.
“Rayleigh-san~~”
Buggy’s distinctive quacking voice hadn’t yet reached Rayleigh when he was pulled back by someone grabbing his black hat.
“Give up. We’ve been with Roger long enough to know we can’t dissuade him.”
“How can this be…”
“Trust in the ship that Tom built, the Oro Jackson. Roger doesn’t have much time left,” Rayleigh said, his voice trailing off.
“I’ve told you this countless times, Roger. We’ve had our differences, but let’s move on.
“As long as we have the world-destroying weapon you know the location of, my forces, and my perfect plan that I’ve spent years crafting, we can immediately rule the world.”
Standing at the bow of the ship, the Golden Lion extended his right hand to Roger, inviting him:
“Be my right hand, Roger!”
“I’m not interested in ruling, Shiki. If I can’t do what I want as a pirate, then what’s the point?”
Despite his illness, Roger remained confident and heroic!
“No matter how much pressure you put on me, Shiki!! I reject your proposal!” Facing a fleet dozens of times larger than his own, Roger showed no fear and firmly rejected the Golden Lion.
Behind him stood Rayleigh and the crew, their faces unwavering despite the encircling fleet of the Golden Lion. Each one of them wore a smile, showing no hesitation.
“Stop, Captain. Do you know how many ships the enemy has?” Buggy cried, clutching Roger’s arm, but Rayleigh pulled him away.
“You mean I should kill you now, Roger?!” the Golden Lion asked furiously.
“I mean I’ll defeat all of you!” Roger laughed boldly.
The battle commenced!
