One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 26
The Battle of Edd War
The Battle of Edd War, a clash between two legendary pirates, reshaped the world’s balance of power. This battle was supposed to end with Roger’s defeat, surrounded, but unexpectedly, a sudden storm saved him.
The sea swallowed half of the Golden Lion’s fleet, leaving both sides heavily wounded. Thanks to the storm, Roger managed to break through the Golden Lion’s encirclement.
During the battle, the Golden Lion suffered severe injuries, with a ship’s helm impaled into his head. It was embedded too deeply to remove without risking his life, so it remained lodged there.
Had it not been for the great tsunami, would Roger have handed over the world-destroying weapon he possessed to save his crew, giving it to the Golden Lion? And would the Golden Lion have, as he boasted, taken over the world?
If Roger had been defeated by the Golden Lion, there might never have been a Great Pirate Era, a Revolutionary Army, or Four Emperors; instead, the Golden Lion would have ruled half the world in opposition to the World Government.
Despite the battle’s outcome being a draw, the Golden Lion’s hatred for Roger remained, as did his deep respect for him.
After the Battle of Edd War, the vast sea calmed the stormy impacts of the battle. Garp’s pursuit ended in vain.
Present Day
It is now the year 1498 in the Circular Sea calendar. Nearly two years have passed. Michion has now mastered the “Six Powers” (Rokushiki). Although he can barely use the remaining three techniques—Finger Pistol (Shigan), Tempest Kick (Rankyaku), and Moonwalk (Geppo)—it will still take some time to use them effectively in combat.
This is no reason for Michion to slack off, as he knows that once Roger surrenders, the frenzied Golden Lion will cause a bloody storm across the sea. And the epicenter of this turmoil will be where Michion is now—the Navy Headquarters, Marineford.
In the upcoming chaos, no place is truly safe. The Golden Lion’s rampage at the Navy Headquarters is a small price to pay for choosing to join the Navy. However, Michion recognizes this price; he takes it very seriously, as a single misstep could obliterate him.
Over the years, in addition to his physical training, Michion has dedicated his extra time to developing his Devil Fruit abilities. He has developed new skills to ensure his safety and avoid being caught in the Golden Lion’s rampage.
Spatial Domain: Repelling Aura
This technique involves using the power of the Devouring Fruit to extract and compress the surrounding air into a shield for defense. Although the Devouring Fruit is the primary component, the support of the Aura Fruit is essential. With it, controlling the air would consume less energy.
The Aura Fruit makes this technique less costly and more accessible to control. This ability is similar to Kuma’s Paw-Paw Fruit’s shockwave but utilizes different powers. Kuma’s ability creates shockwaves by compressing air using his paw pads, resulting in massive destructive force due to atmospheric pressure.
Michion, on the other hand, extracts and compresses air into a large compressed air block, primarily using the Devouring Fruit, with the Aura Fruit providing a foundation. While Michion cannot yet achieve the destructive power of Kuma’s shockwaves, he has an advantage. As his mastery of the Devouring Fruit grows, he will eventually reach that power level.
Moreover, he can use compressed air to form a shield and, in the future, mimic Kuma’s shockwave principle for attacks. This flexibility means the potential for this ability is much greater than Kuma’s.
As Michion continues to develop and strengthen his abilities, the “Repelling Aura” will become a fully integrated offensive and defensive skill. His previous knowledge and imagination from his past life have benefited from these developments.
Spatial Domain: Rainfall
Besides the primary “Repelling Aura,” Michion has developed another air manipulation technique. The “Rainfall” technique uses the extracted air to create blades for long-range attacks. The enemy faces a terrifying barrage of attacks akin to a torrential downpour.
