One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 27
Yes, this move may seem oddly familiar. If it does, it is inspired by Gilgamesh’s “Gate of Babylon” attack. Unlike Gilgamesh’s flashy array of weapons, each with unique form and extraordinary ability, Michion’s creation focuses purely on lethal efficiency, crafting fine blades and conical bullets.
The two types of damage—cutting from the fine blades and piercing from the conical bullets—make for versatile attacks. Though the aura’s reach limits the range, Michion’s aura spans a 20-meter radius, providing ample coverage for various combat scenarios.
This showcases the power of possessing dual Devil Fruits. Even seemingly unrelated abilities can combine to create unforeseen and powerful skills. Michion’s manipulation of air has led to the development of what he calls the “Aerial Domain” series.
Previous abilities like “Repelling Aura” and “Rainfall” stem from his mastery of manipulating air within his aura. He also developed another technique, which is still a work in progress, named “Vacuum Hell.”
The principle behind “Vacuum Hell” is simple: Michion expands his aerial aura to a specific range and begins to extract air from within it. This forces enemies to face the lack of oxygen while engaging in close combat with Michion.
However, this move is not invincible. Michion’s “Vacuum Hell” relies on creating a compressed air wall that forms a sealed space. If enemies can break through this air wall, they can access the air outside.
This limitation is because air is ubiquitous, and any cracks in the wall will allow the compressed air to leak. Currently, Michion cannot wholly remove oxygen from space; the thinner the air becomes, the more energy it consumes.
Michion suspects fully developing this move may require awakening his Devil Fruit powers. This technique mimics Doflamingo’s “Birdcage,” with a semi-transparent air wall forming the outer layer, sealing the space completely.
Indeed, compressed air, likely due to the fruit’s power, becomes semi-transparent and visible. Although still a work in progress, with the air wall being relatively weak and requiring energy to repair any breaches, this technique has great potential.
For now, Michion focuses on training his physical abilities while developing his Devil Fruit powers. No strong individual in the sea relies solely on their Devil Fruit. Even Crocodile, a Logia user, was defeated by Luffy with a simple water trick.
Even Kizaru, who underestimates physical training, still mastered Haki. Most Vice Admirals are proficient in at least two types of Haki.
While Kizaru’s fruit gives him a significant speed advantage, allowing him to prioritize fruit mastery over physical training, Michion’s primary goal in developing his abilities is self-preservation in the upcoming battles. Impressing others is a secondary goal.
After all, his Ouroboros Snake needs constant combat and devouring to grow stronger.
As Michion’s progress in mastering the “Six Powers” (Rokushiki) slows, he realizes that only through combat can he make significant strides. Actual combat will provide the “experience” needed to enhance his abilities quickly.
He might be on par with Rob Lucci, who is hailed as a once-in-500-year genius, but that is far from enough. The sea is full of individuals more monstrous than Lucci, like Charlotte Linlin, who destroyed a giant village at age five.
Even Shanks, who joined the Pirate King’s crew as a teenager and became an Emperor by 39, far surpasses Lucci. From Roger’s surrender in 1948 to Luffy’s departure in 1522, 24 years passed, marking Shanks as a formidable force from a young age.
Michion’s ultimate goal is to surpass these contemporaries. Even with his exceptional abilities, he will not waste any chance to grow stronger, knowing that the world’s monsters are even more formidable.
During his relentless development, the Pirate King, Roger, secretly met with Garp, dragging his sick body along. After their secret meeting, a shocking piece of news spread from the Navy Headquarters to the world:
The Pirate King- Roger- the only pirate in history to conquer the Grand Line was captured by the Navy!
This news skyrocketed Garp’s reputation. Already hailed as the “Hero of the Navy” for defeating the Rocks Pirates, his capture of Roger earned him immense admiration from the Navy and the public.
Learning of this news, Michion halted all physical and Haki training to focus entirely on enhancing the defensive capabilities of his “Repelling Aura.”
A battle that could devastate half of the Navy Headquarters was imminent.
