One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 28
The news of the Pirate King’s capture spread like wildfire worldwide.
The world was in turmoil, with dark clouds gathering on the horizon!
And then came the explosive news from the Navy: Pirate King Roger would be publicly executed in his hometown, Loguetown, in the East Blue!
Future sea heroes and villains alike began converging on this fateful location.
“Hawkeye” Mihawk, Doflamingo, Moria—all future Shichibukai—were just inconspicuous participants among many.
Even Crocodile abandoned his plan to challenge Whitebeard to witness this event, which would change the course of history.
For a moment, the entire world focused on the small town of Loguetown in the East Blue.
But none of those who received the news took it harder than the Golden Lion.
On the edge of an island, a fleet was anchored.
On the most luxurious ship, the throne that symbolized power was vacant.
What should have been a decadent and debaucherous pirate banquet was filled with anxiety as everyone watched the Golden Lion standing in the center.
“Roger was captured?” The Golden Lion’s questioning tone reflected his darkened expression, as if he were about to explode.
“It’s reliable information,” a subordinate said, steeling himself.
“Don’t talk nonsense! How could anyone believe that? You all know how formidable that man is.”
Yet the surrounding subordinates couldn’t lie to him in unison, leaving the Golden Lion in disbelief and rage.
“Boom!”
In his fury, the Golden Lion fired a shot to vent his anger. But no one cared for the unlucky victim because the Golden Lion was already heading up the stairs, leaving the hall.
“Boss, please calm down.”
“Don’t say such absurd things!” The Golden Lion stomped up the stairs, smoking a cigar.
“Boss, where are you going?”
The Golden Lion did not answer, and no one knew his next move.
…
**Intruder alert!!! The enemy is in the Marineford Plaza! The enemy is the Golden Lion Shiki alone!!**
“Boom” “Boom” “Boom”!!
Countless cannon shots were fired from the fortress, and the alarm for an invasion rang throughout Marine Headquarters.
The recruits were still bewildered, unable to believe someone would be bold enough to attack Marine Headquarters.
Since Roger’s capture, Michion has remained vigilant at Marine Headquarters’ training grounds, anticipating the Golden Lion’s arrival.
Being too weak, he feared the widespread destruction caused by the Float-Float Fruit. Survival seemed unlikely if caught in the crossfire or the Golden Lion descended near the training grounds.
At that moment, Marine Headquarters was undergoing a bloody massacre.
At the center of the battlefield, the Golden Lion, wielding the famous swords “Oto” and “Kogarashi,” slaughtered countless Marine officers.
Numerous elite Marines who rushed to fight could not escape death, adding to the growing pile of corpses.
With the Golden Lion’s combat power, these elite Marines couldn’t withstand his second strike, becoming shattered bodies on the corpse hill.
Blood flowed on Marineford’s once pristine plaza, highlighting the gruesome slaughter that had occurred.
The oppressive atmosphere weighed heavily, the sky filled with rolling dark clouds and torrential rain. Standing atop the corpse hill, the Golden Lion exuded the presence of an entire army.
“There’s no way Roger could have been captured by you weaklings! He was a man I acknowledged!” he roared.
Standing on the pile of bodies, his back turned to Fleet Admiral Sengoku, the Golden Lion held an extinguished cigar in his mouth.
Taking two steps forward, Sengoku, now an Admiral, sternly replied, “Roger is the Pirate King. He won the battle against you.”
“Pirate King?!” The Golden Lion, hearing this title, turned back in rage.
“So what? If he had joined me, we would have ruled the world already!”
“Though we weren’t friends, we lived through an era together. If he’s here, bring him to me. If he must die, I’ll do it myself!”
Increasingly enraged, the Golden Lion’s aura grew more terrifying, like a lion whose pride had been insulted.
Looking at his old adversary, Sengoku slowly said, “The execution will be in a week, at Roger’s birthplace, Loguetown in the East Blue.”
“Roger’s death will crush the courage of all pirates.”
With Garp’s arrival and declaration, the Golden Lion’s aura became even more menacing.
Sengoku knew that a fight was inevitable.
With Garp’s arrival, losses could be minimized. Together, they would capture the Golden Lion and send him to Impel Down!
“The legend of Pirate King Roger ends in the weakest East Blue? Don’t make me laugh! That’s a final insult to that bastard!”
Garp, removing his coat, retorted, “So what if it’s the weakest? The East Blue symbolizes peace.”
But the Golden Lion couldn’t hold back any longer, leaping off the corpse hill, slashing downwards with his swords.
Garp and Sengoku quickly dispersed the attack with a punch, the shockwave pushing nearby Marines away.
This battlefield was not for the weak.
As the battle intensified, even Sengoku and Garp struggled to minimize the collateral damage, hoping fewer Marine casualties would occur.
As for the buildings, the Marine Headquarters would likely need rebuilding after this fight.
“Lion’s Roar: Thousand Slice!”
In the heat of battle, the Golden Lion used his Float-Float Fruit to launch a large-scale attack, lifting the ground with immense force.
The plaza and the damaged buildings floated in the air, turning into a dense rain of stones aimed at Garp and Sengoku.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A brilliant golden light erupted as a massive golden Buddha appeared, radiating golden light—Sengoku’s Devil Fruit power!
The Human-Human Fruit, Model: Daibutsu!
Sengoku transformed into a giant golden Buddha pushed forward with an open palm, shattering the stones into dust.
“Sengoku! Garp! You have no choice but to block this attack!”
“Lion’s Roar: Earth Roll!”
With a roar, Shiki’s swords clashed with Garp, and in an instant, Marine Headquarters’ foundation began to float higher.
This rampaging Golden Lion was not weak, unlike when numerous stone lions were created twenty years later.
In an instant, countless stone lions covered most of Marine Headquarters, crushing everything in their path!
As the collision approached, Sengoku and Garp fought back furiously, breaking apart the attacks and realizing Shiki’s true intent.
A frontal assault!
