One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 39
Ordinary people’s demands are low; living a stable life is enough.
But even such a life is a luxury because you never know when a pirate crew will appear, kill you, take your wife, and sell your children as enslaved people.
Having memories of being captured by slavers and comparing it to the peaceful world of his previous life, Michion instinctively despised these chaotic scums.
After experiencing many hardships in this world, Michion deeply resonated with what Sengoku said during the Marineford War:
“For the people who fear the tyranny of evil, our presence here is significant.”
“Peace is just a dream in this world,” Michion said.
Michion also desired an extraordinary life, to cut through blood and fire, and to stand at the top in this era of great waves.
This was Michion’s ambition; he didn’t want to give it up but could choose what to fight for.
He was completely different from the pirates sailing to sea in this aspect.
……….
“Admiral Sengoku, this is the situation,” Kuzan (Aokiji) reported Michion’s identity over a Den Den Mushi.
Upon learning of Michion’s identity, Kuzan accepted Adolf’s request to inform Sengoku and King Gaius about the good news of finding the lost prince.
This was a routine report after learning about Michion’s identity since it concerned the heir of a nation closely allied with the Marines.
“It’s surprising that this kid has such an identity. Kuzan, you and Yujimura did a great job. Strengthening ties with the Kingdom of Ishtar is beneficial for us,” Sengoku said, sounding pleased perhaps because the Kingdom of Ishtar in the North Blue was a firm ally of the Marines.
With the return of the king’s lost son, their relationship would become even more vital.
Also, Garp has an excellent personal relationship with Gaius, so he would also be pleased.
“Admiral Sengoku, what about Michion? His potential is quite impressive,” Kuzan hesitated.
“Don’t worry, proceed as usual,” Sengoku replied over the Den Den Mushi. “Gaius is one of our few steadfast allies. Besides, Michion has lived in the Marines for a long time. Even if he leans towards his own country in the future, being able to maintain order in the North Blue is a good option.”
Sengoku had considered this. After all, Michion was just a promising seedling. There was no need to strain relations with an allied nation over this. It was best to train him as usual.
If he genuinely became a high-level force and couldn’t be a core member due to his identity, he could still oversee the North Blue, ensuring its stability.
Moreover, Gaius was still young, and Michion would likely have to wait a long time to inherit the throne.
“Admiral Sengoku, what about Michion and Adolf? Crossing the Calm Belt is no easy task,” Kuzan asked lazily, yawning.
“After dealing with Roger, I’ll have Tsuru take them to the North Blue. Doflamingo has gone to Loguetown, so Tsuru has been recalled. She’ll take them to the North Blue when she resumes pursuing Doflamingo.”
Mentioning Doflamingo, Sengoku grew irritated. That troublemaker was untouchable due to his status, so only Tsuru could pursue him with her Wash-Wash Fruit ability.
Doflamingo might seem fearless, even mocking Admirals. Still, during the Shichibukai meeting before the Marineford War, he was stopped by Tsuru when he manipulated two Marines to kill each other, admitting, “I truly can’t beat you, Ms. Tsuru.”
He dared to confront Admirals but showed respect to Tsuru, highlighting her deterrence over him.
“Alright, that’s it. I’ll have Garp inform Gaius, his old friend, of the good news. Kuzan, good job,” Sengoku’s previously stern face lightened up.
“Not having to make a trip myself is nice,” Kuzan smiled lazily, putting on his eye mask to continue napping.
……
Michion’s identity issue was settled. The warship continued its orderly journey to the East Blue. On the vast sea, everything returned to normal.
Michion stood steadily at the bow, gazing at the endless sea.
Loguetown was near.
Golden sunlight bathed the sea, making it seem like the ocean had turned gold. The sea breeze carried the scent of sunshine, making Michion squint in contentment.
However, the warship’s crew didn’t relax or show any joy at reaching their destination.
Sailing on the sea was tedious, and each landing was a respite. But this time, there was no joy, only seriousness.
This was about to become the centre of the world and the starting point of an era’s tide!
In Loguetown, despite being daytime, residents were cautious and not relaxed.
More Marines patrolled the streets with weapons, maintaining order.
The town felt more like a military fortress than a peaceful village.
The atmosphere was tense like a storm was about to break.
The tension affected even the usually carefree Zola, her lively demeanor replaced with seriousness.
However, Roger’s capture (though he surrendered, it was publicly attributed to Garp) and Shiki’s capture by Sengoku and Garp boosted people’s hope for peace and the Marines’ confidence.
Despite the solemn atmosphere, people weren’t uneasy but hopeful that Roger’s execution would bring peace.
Even the Marines hoped that after this mission, they could return home peacefully.
“Ah, poor people. If only they knew what Roger would do at his execution, they wouldn’t be so optimistic,” Michion sighed, looking at the townsfolk.
The era’s upheaval was coming!
