One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 5
With the desperate “spring shouts” of the two men, ” their abilities became increasingly apparent.
Only now did Michion realize that they had been using Devil Fruit powers all along, but he hadn’t noticed due to the distance.
Now, it seemed they were fighting for their lives.
But honestly… due to their gluttony, their muscles had turned into heavy fat, making them short of breath after a few steps, and their stamina was likely spent.
Yet, in the face of a life-threatening crisis, the two still managed to muster their greatest strength.
The black “meatball” suddenly emitted a green aura, increasing his speed.
He quickly turned and tried to grab onto the nearest tree.
Meanwhile, the other “meatball” who shouted “Snatch Lock” managed to manipulate a sturdy-looking vine to fly into his hand from a distance.
Unfortunately, it was all in vain.
Their bodies had become fat-laden blobs with little strength, and Devil Fruits consumed energy.
Moreover, their weight was a significant factor.
The one with the agility buff couldn’t run fast, and the vine in the other’s hand began to break under strain.
The massive plant, Stomach Baron, caused enormous disturbances while feeding.
The closing of its outer petals triggered tsunamis, and the island’s interior began to quake with loud, booming noises, like a natural disaster.
“Devil Fruit users? And two of them?” Michion watched the two meatballs’ desperate struggle with indifference.
The thought of rescuing them didn’t cross his mind at all. It was essential to be cautious of others, especially these pirate-looking fellows.
Besides, there was an “abyssal maw” between him and them, making it impossible to cross.
So, Michion silently clung to the tree, watching the show.
Unfortunately, the show was already over.
With the sound of trees collapsing and deafening roars, the two meatballs looked on in despair as an even more giant meatball—a grotesquely fat Sea King—rolled toward them.
With a massive, round body like a bowling ball, it charged with unstoppable momentum, knocking the two struggling men and itself into the abyss. Their voices were silenced instantly.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk, what bad luck. Otherwise, they might have struggled a bit longer,” Michion said, shaking his head as he watched the three fall.
Even Devil Fruit users who succumbed to their desires and unfamiliar with the island’s situation were doomed.
Feeling his body tilting, Michion knew that Stomach Baron had fully closed.
Anyone looking from afar would see the island resembling a bud about to bloom, standing quietly on the sea.
After Stomach Baron finished feeding, the island returned to peace. The absence of animals running around made it much quieter.
Michion climbed down from the tree, untied himself, and prepared to head to the outer areas while the island was calm.
His goal was to see if he could find valuable items, as the chances of finding something on the outer edges were higher.
The man-eating flowers were still cowed, so there was no immediate danger.
“Huh, what’s this? A plant bearing fruit in the abyssal maw?” Michion noticed a plant with a small fruit growing inside the abyss.
Previously, out of curiosity, he had inspected the abyssal maw and knew some plants grew there. But now, there was a plant bearing fruit.
The plant was about three to four meters below the maw, making it easy for Michion to see.
When Michion had inspected earlier, there had been no fruit-bearing plants.
“Never mind, better check the outer area for any items. Those two might have had something valuable,” Michion decided and ran toward the outer area.
If luck was on his side, he might find something hanging from a branch or a rock.
His other goal was to see if any ships were passing by, as he still hoped to leave the island.
Pirate ships were out of the question, as Michion didn’t want to court death.
Taking advantage of the relative calm, Michion reached the island’s edge, where it met the sea.
Unsurprisingly, he found nothing.
Michion wasn’t disappointed, though, as he was used to it.
He hurried back to the interior before the man-eating flowers and Sea Kings returned, ready to start his new training plan for the day.
After three months on the island, Michion had built a solid foundation through continuous eating and training cycles.
The island’s highly nutritious food, easily absorbed by the body, had visibly transformed Michion. He was no longer thin but had a robust physique.
Given his current speed, the man-eating flowers were no longer a threat. If he couldn’t beat them, he could outrun them.
Now, Michion prepared to practice “Soru.”
Mastering this skill would significantly enhance his mobility and, combined with moonwalking, provide aerial maneuverability, which is a significant advantage.
As for “Tekkai” and “Kami-e,” Michion knew his body needed more development, but he was content with laying the groundwork.
Even with “Soru,” success wasn’t guaranteed.
Running itself was a fundamental method to improve agility.
It also trained his reflexes since running full speed through the forest required coordination to avoid crashing into trees.
For an advanced version, Michion planned to train his sense of danger by running from man-eating flowers, further enhancing his coordination and reflexes.
In the monotonous cycle of daily training, another three months passed quickly.
