One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 57
The attacker was a little small but extremely fast. Even after taking a punch from Sora, getting back up took a long time. This alone was enough to surprise the two of them.
After all, if it were an ordinary beast, anyone from the training camp could kill it with a single blow.
“Is this… a dinosaur??” Looking puzzled, Michion looked at the creature in front of him, while Sora was speechless.
People here were naturally familiar with dinosaurs, but the term “ancient species” made it clear that these were almost extinct ancient creatures.
From what Michion knew, dinosaurs like this only existed in Little Garden.
In the original story, the Marine traitor X Drake had an ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit, the Allosaurus model.
However, at this point, Drake should still be in the North Blue. Only after Do Flamingo’s deal for the Ope Ope no Mi was he saved by Tsuru, who brought him into the Marines.
“Unfortunately, he eventually became a pirate too,” Michion sighed inwardly, but he quickly focused on the surroundings.
But soon, Sora’s mouth began to water, and she subconsciously wiped her mouth, mumbling, “I wonder if dinosaur meat is tasty…”
Hearing Sora’s muttering, Michion felt a headache coming on. He couldn’t help but knock on her head and scold her:
“There are traces of human activity here. This might be a place where they research and create dinosaurs. There could be harmful substances involved. And all you can think about is eating it! What if you turn into a deformed monster?”
“I was just thinking about it… just thinking… hehe…” Sora mumbled, embarrassed, realising her actions were not very convincing.
The dinosaur Sora had punched resembled a chicken, with a long, slender neck and tail and two thin legs that allowed it to dash—its speed during the ambush had shown that.
It looked like the Compsognathus Michion knew from his previous life, but it was red.
Soon, Tina and the others arrived, naturally scolding Sorwelly, who didn’t dwell on it too much, considering the environment didn’t allow for playing around.
The group formed a formation and moved towards the castle. The journey was peaceful.
In the desolate plain, a red pond came into view, and the red Compsognathus that had ambushed Michion and Sora was leisurely drinking the unknown red liquid from the pond.
But soon, the Compsognathus noticed Michion and the others watching them. As soon as they saw them, the dinosaurs seemed to get excited.
“Roar~~ Roar~~~~” The red Compsognathus charged at the group, emitting sharp cries.
“Be careful. Their cries might be calling for reinforcements.”
Rustling sounds came from the surrounding grass, and a fast-moving figure shot out.
As they got closer, Michion saw its teeth were tiny and delicate.
However, these teeth were extraordinarily sharp and curved at the edges, a deadly weapon for their prey.
As the group of red Compsognathus charged at Michion and his companions, their cruel eyes revealed a hunger that suggested they hadn’t seen prey in a long time.
Watching the charging dinosaurs, Michion felt their only notable feature was their speed; everything else was mediocre.
Their defence wasn’t solid if Sora’s punch could almost kill one.
Michion casually conjured a semi-transparent air sword, slicing through the first red Compsognathus that reached him.
The others didn’t just stand by either. After all, many red Compsognathus were responding to the call.
“Rod Technique!” Tina shouted, instantly producing an iron rod and skewering an unfortunate red Compsognathus.
“Uh… This technique I suggested for Tina seems a bit brutal,” Michion thought, controlling his air sword to decapitate another Compsognathus, looking quite like a celestial warrior.
But alas, it was just for show.
“Rasengan!” Berigood shouted, sending a red Compsognathus flying, spinning in the air and letting out a howl of pain.
Then, a bean flew from the dinosaur towards Berigood.
“Uh… I just mentioned it casually, and he actually used it,” Michion thought, twitching his mouth at the familiar name and the damage it caused.
Not to mention Sean and Shalinkur’s progress, and even Sora’s combat style and strength improved significantly.
This was partly because Sora saw her companions developing new techniques, and she bugged Michion for ideas during their days on the ship.
Michion, fed up with the constant harassment, suggested she practice yoga…
In his previous life, as a somewhat reclusive doctor, Michion knew the benefits of yoga for maintaining body balance.
He had learned yoga from a professional instructor who was also a friend and used it to balance his hormones.
While teaching Sora yoga, Michion had hoped she wouldn’t be interested in such a “soft” practice, but she had a natural talent for it.
Soon, she pulled Michion, Tina, and the others into practising yoga, integrating it into her combat style.
Combining this with her previous brute-force combat style, Sora now had a balanced approach of flexibility and strength.
Anyone who underestimated her due to her “soft” techniques would quickly be taught a harsh lesson.
Punching someone into submission wasn’t just Michion’s hobby but Sora’s!
Unbeknownst to him, Michion’s influence transformed his once-insignificant companions into promising talents highly valued by the Marines.
Michion’s efforts and dedication were subtly impacting those around him, pushing them to keep up with his pace.
The one who had changed the most was Sora, whom Michion had once saved.
She was the brave girl who had shielded her comrades from the Golden Lion’s attack.
Staying close to Michion, Tina, and the others, they were most affected by his presence, the small butterfly flapping its wings.
And this butterfly’s wings were flapping more vigorously, destined to create a massive storm in this world!
