One Piece Devouring Fruit - Chapter 58
After Sean and the others finished experimenting with their newly developed abilities, most of the red Compsognathus had been killed. At this point, Sora insisted on handling the remaining ones, so Michion and the others stepped aside to watch her performance.
While the others had developed only a few fruit ability moves, following Michion’s advice, Sora had integrated the “softness” of yoga into her combat style, resulting in many technique-based combat skills.
Sora needed to test these newly developed techniques in actual combat.
The red Compsognathus provided the perfect test subjects for Sora’s experimentation.
Standing aside, Michion and the others watched Sora try her techniques, effortlessly taking down the clueless red Compsognathus.
Tina yawned and said, “Tina is so bored. These creatures are only interesting because of their unusual appearance. I wanted to test the limits of my new abilities.”
“Yeah, they’re too weak. Um… is that how you say it, Michion?” Sora said, tossing aside a Compsognathus she had shattered with a technique, looking somewhat unsatisfied.
She hadn’t even warmed up properly, and there were many “gentle” moves she hadn’t tried yet.
Michion, on the other hand, was quite interested in the research lab they had found. If the dinosaurs were artificial, it would mean that the scientists here had succeeded in creating them. Such technology could be valuable and worth bringing back.
While Michion and the others were leisurely exploring, Akainu, secretly protecting them, was not as pleased.
Earlier, Akainu had explored this side of the island and discovered that the beasts here were a type of dinosaur. After testing them, he found that their strength was decent.
Given their ability to call for reinforcements and speed, they should have posed a decent challenge. Compared to the average strength of the training camp, these dinosaurs provided a good real-world combat experience.
Akainu had hoped this would be a good trial, but under Michion’s leadership, this batch of trainees was significantly more potent than previous ones. Many considered joining Michion’s group a mark of pride.
It showed that their strength and effort far surpassed that of their peers.
Despite Akainu’s mixed feelings of frustration and pride in Michion’s group, Michion and his team entered the abandoned building and discovered it was a research facility.
Though the equipment was old and damaged from years of neglect, such places always sparked the desire to explore and find hidden treasures.
For kids, that is.
Without Michion’s help, the eager group quickly ransacked the research lab.
There were no traps or machines like in the movies. Judging by the messy state of the lab, the departure seemed very hasty. Setting up traps in such a situation would have been unrealistic.
However, after looking at the documents Sean and the others found, Michion clearly understood the origin of the red Compsognathus.
It turned out that this was a research lab of the Vinsmoke family, who had once ruled the entire North Blue through military force from Michion’s knowledge of the previous world.
Speaking of the Vinsmoke family, one had to mention Sanji, the cook of the main crew and one of the top three fighters on the ship.
Michion hadn’t expected to encounter the Vinsmoke family in this way.
Germa 66 was the name of the military force of the scientific kingdom of Germa. They were known as the “Evil Army” and “War Experts, ” among others.
This kingdom had no fixed territory; it was a massive nation with dozens of ships that could separate and reconnect.
Because of this, this nation of soldiers for hire was active worldwide.
Vinsmoke Judge,
This man was the king of the kingdom.
However, he was a scientist who had once worked with Vegapunk. After Vegapunk discovered the “blueprints of life” and the lineage factor, the world government shut down their organisation.
Judge escaped and returned to Germa, using lineage factor technology to create clone soldiers.
These cloned and modified soldiers were known for their absolute obedience and fearlessness in battle, making them a feared force worldwide.
The judge’s dream was to conquer the North Blue. The number “66” symbolised their previous unification of the North Blue for 66 days.
The Vinsmoke family’s scientific prowess was undeniable. Working alongside Vegapunk, they developed advanced technology.
For example, the giant snails capable of sea travel and climbing the Red Line and various weapons equipped by the Vinsmoke royalty, such as Judge’s electromagnetic gun, Niji’s light-speed sword, the instant canister armour, and the swelling suppression masks used by Sanji.
To the world’s top fighters, these technologies might seem frivolous. But to a nation, they were incredibly attractive advancements.
Imagine equipping soldiers with these technologies; their combat effectiveness would significantly increase.
While it might not guarantee victory over top pirates, it would make the North Blue a place no one dared to provoke.
Among the research papers were documents and a researcher’s journal, hidden in a secret compartment that Sora, with her hyperactive tendencies, discovered.
Michion flipped through the journal and confirmed the Vinsmoke family’s biological research.
After the unification of the North Blue, the nations began to resist, leading to the researchers’ hasty retreat.
Initially, this place had been a biological weapon research facility, likely a precursor to the lineage factor.
The red pool was a nutrient solution that could substitute for the red Compsognathus’s daily food intake—no wonder the dinosaurs had gone mad at the sight of Michion and his team.
They had likely exhausted the prey on the barren side of the island and had been surviving on the nutrient solution. Seeing Michion and his companions, they naturally wanted to change their diet.
Unfortunately, they ran into Sora and the others, who were eager to test their new abilities and lost all their teeth for it.
After skimming through the journal and the research papers, Michion decided they had gathered enough information. He stored the documents and led his team back into the forest to help collect food.
While most animals had been eaten, the island still had an abundance of fruits and vegetables, thanks to the research staff’s cultivation efforts.
The bounty of superior crops satisfied everyone, and Sora even caught a warren of rabbits.
Although the adventure was mediocre, at least their stomachs were not left wanting.
