One Piece Dragon King - Chapter 20
Hals was bewildered.
What was going on?
Why was Luffy bowing to him?
This was strange.
Hals knew that bowing in Japan wasn’t as serious as in China, but it was still a big gesture.
Why was Luffy bowing to him?
He couldn’t figure it out.
“Hals, I’m sorry.”
Luffy’s head stayed on the floor as he spoke.
Hals blinked, not understanding what was happening.
“I said something I shouldn’t have. Please forgive me.”
Hals couldn’t remember what Luffy had said.
He continued to blink.
After a while, unable to recall anything, he decided to let it go.
“Luffy, get up first. We’ll talk about it.”
Hals went over to help Luffy up.
“No, I won’t get up.”
Luffy wouldn’t get up until Hals forgave him.
“What did you say? You need to tell me. I can’t remember.”
Hals couldn’t recall anything specific.
He hadn’t thought much about it since Luffy often said he wanted to become the Pirate King. It seemed trivial.
Luffy lifted his head to look at Hals.
“Hals really can’t remember,” Sabo whispered to Ace.
Sabo quickly understood his friend’s point and replied, “But if we tell him and it makes him upset, what then?”
Ace answered, “That’s a problem too.”
Both felt troubled.
Meanwhile, Dadan stood nearby, looking at Luffy.
“But leaving it like this isn’t good either. We can’t have Luffy bowing and Hals unable to remember,” Sabo said.
“That’s true. Let’s wait a bit longer. If it doesn’t work, Luffy will have to explain and hope Hals forgives him. Luffy can give up on being Pirate King if necessary.”
Ace agreed.
“Us too.”
Sabo and Ace glanced at the ceiling.
Their dreams seemed distant, but friendship was more important.
“Uh…”
Luffy felt conflicted.
He wondered if he should tell Hals and risk upsetting him.
“You have to say it. If you don’t, how will I know?”
Hals sat down, pulling Luffy’s head up. Luffy’s strength was no match for Hals.
Honestly, Hals could defeat all three of them without transforming into a dragon.
Hals pulled Luffy’s head up, stretching his neck.
“I… I…”
Luffy stammered.
“This is strange. Just get up.”
Hals pulled Luffy up, not giving him a chance to stay down.
Dadan stood by, feeling uncertain.
Not knowing what to do, she decided to stay silent.
Hals hadn’t taken the boys’ dreams of becoming pirates and the Pirate King seriously. He didn’t see how it affected him.
Even though Sabo would later join the Revolutionary Army, he would still choose the Revolution over being a pirate.
The welfare of the people was more important.
Hals intended to avenge his family himself, though if the ones responsible died before he got to them, it couldn’t be helped.
Maybe he could learn a fifth-level light spell to resurrect them and kill them again.
A fourth-level light spell could revive someone if their body was intact and not long dead. The fifth level could revive someone long dead as long as their soul still existed, even in heaven.
Fifth-level light spells only needed enough cells from the person to revive them. A drop of blood or saliva would suffice.
However, if the Devil Fruit left the body, it couldn’t be revived with the person. But if the fruit remained, both could be revived together.
Dark magic also had resurrection spells but in a strange way. It forced the body to live and inserted the soul back in.
As long as there was a continuous supply of magic, the person would be fine. Without it, they would die.
Level-two dark spells could revive people normally, but only regular people.
Level-one dark spells could summon random dead souls, but they were weak, like ordinary soldiers with just 10 power units.
Light magic didn’t have such quirks. Revived people were truly alive and unrelated to the caster.
Each had its advantages. Dark magic required less magic, while light magic needed much more, especially for strong individuals.
Luffy remained silent.
Hals went to his room to practice “Dragon Meditation,” feeling his soul strengthen.
He now had over a million negative emotion points, largely thanks to Whitebeard.
Thanks for the points, Whitebeard.
…
Whitebeard suddenly felt a tickle in his nose.
He had various medicine bottles on him due to his illness.
After the last sneeze, he started worrying about his health.
But Whitebeard still loved drinking.
He sneezed into his sake cup.
What should I do? he thought. Maybe no one saw. Should I drink it?
He leaned in closer.
“Father.”
Whitebeard looked up to see his son, Thatch, giving him a strange look.
Whitebeard knew his health was deteriorating but still loved drinking.
“You sneezed into your sake cup, right?”
Marco had already informed the division captains about Whitebeard’s condition, telling them to watch him closely.
“I know.”
Whitebeard poured out the sake.
Looks like no sake for today, he thought.
“From Whitebeard’s negative emotions +110,000”
