One Piece Dragon King - Chapter 32
Garp brought Hals to Marine Headquarters.
Marineford.
This was one of the three great powers in the Grand Line: Marines, Pirates, and the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Of course, the Seven Warlords hadn’t been established yet.
Boa Hancock probably hadn’t set sail yet at her age.
Hals calculated in his mind.
They had crossed Reverse Mountain but didn’t see Laboon, which was a bit disappointing. If Laboon had appeared, Grandpa might have punched him away or turned him into food.
Never mind, he’s too big.
Besides, they already had enough food.
Hals also didn’t see that old flower man, Dr. Crocus, the doctor of the Pirate King’s ship, which interested him, but he didn’t appear.
If he had, it might have been awkward with Garp around.
Leaving Twin Cape, they didn’t take the route to Alabasta but another path. Hals found it interesting, but the islands weren’t particularly noteworthy.
Just ordinary islands.
Hals did encounter a pirate ship. When the pirate ship saw Garp’s warship, they fled, likely recognizing it. Naturally, they were caught, providing Hals with a lot of negative emotions.
These pirates were weak, with very low physical strength, barely having a Doriki value of 100.
“So weak. I wonder how trash like this survives on the Grand Line.”
Hals punched the pirate captain, breaking his arm. The bone cracked, and the elbow joint shattered. When they arrived, the pirates were about to attack a village—evident from the way they charged with weapons.
Hals showed no mercy to these pirates, though he didn’t kill them.
He used these scum to farm negative emotions.
“Negative emotions from Captain Boru of the Boru Pirates +300”
“From…”
“Oh~ You’re angry now?”
Hals kicked the pirate captain, knocking out a few teeth.
“From…”
Boru was very aggrieved, merely scared.
He had accidentally encountered the Marine hero’s warship and was caught by a demon who broke his arm with one punch and then his legs.
This had been a few days ago.
Due to Hals’ overwhelming strength, Boru had no will to resist.
This guy had blocked his sword with his hand without even getting a scratch.
Hals’ skin was tough. Previously, a small knife only scratched his outer skin due to his strength, but this guy was too weak.
Weaklings struggle to survive in this world.
Hals’ entire body was strong, not just his skin, bones, and muscles but also his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. Hals had once chewed on a small knife, breaking the handle, and his mouth wasn’t harmed.
Hals’ body was comprehensively powerful, not just in bones and muscles.
“These guys, whether they live or die doesn’t matter. Torture them, but don’t kill them. We can’t let these pirates off easily.”
Hals told a soldier, handing him a whip and patting his shoulder.
The unnamed soldier was moved.
This was a mission from the Marine hero’s grandson, who would surely become a big shot.
Of course, the soldier wasn’t looking for promotion or wealth but felt honored.
“Negative emotions from Boru Pirates +…”
“From…”
These guys were just tools for generating negative emotions.
Hals enjoyed his training on the ship.
In the past, body cultivation training had built an immense pain tolerance in Hals.
Before his physical stats reached 20, every training session made his body bleed, but that wasn’t the point.
The point was the unbearable pain, like countless knives cutting his flesh, reaching the bone.
But to get stronger, Wolf endured this pain, growing stronger.
So now Hals could drink the [Pain Potion] without feeling much pain, at least not discomfort.
Because he could endure it.
No one knew how strong Hals was inside, enduring what ordinary people couldn’t, persisting in what they couldn’t.
“It’s huge, right?”
Garp placed his hand on Hals’ shoulder, pointing to Marineford.
“It’s very big.”
Hals was somewhat surprised. Though he had seen Marineford in the War of the Best, seeing it in person was unexpectedly grand.
Hals wasn’t very shocked, which slightly disappointed Garp, but it showed that the kid had great composure, unaffected by honor or disgrace.
Yes, this is my grandson.
Thinking this, Garp felt happy. Hals didn’t understand why.
Never mind, as long as Grandpa was happy.
The warship docked, and they disembarked. The Marines on patrol saluted when they saw Garp, “Good day, Vice Admiral Garp.”
Garp lifted his head proudly, basking in his grandson’s admiration.
Hals quickly played along, saying, “Grandpa is amazing,” and asked a bunch of questions to satisfy Garp, making him feel proud.
The other Marines were curious about the boy—Garp’s grandson?
When did Vice Admiral Garp get a grandson?
But at his age, it made sense.
Would he become a Marine in the future? They would have a reliable comrade then.
“Ahem, Hals, today I’ll introduce you to some old friends.”
Garp coughed, not because he was sick but excited about having a grandson wanting to be a Marine.
“Okay.”
It was probably Sengoku, Zephyr, and Kong.
“Oh my, Garp-san, you’re back. Huh, who’s this kid?”
A man with an eye patch on a warship looked down, having just yawned and probably woken up.
