One Piece Dragon King - Chapter 37
Hals threw two punches at Zephyr’s head. Zephyr immediately pushed Hals away, sending him flying.
Hals adjusted himself and stood firm on the ground.
“Now, you need to figure out how to break through my defense.”
Hals nodded.
His attack speed was already quite fast, and he had gone all out, but even so, Zephyr, with higher Doriki, easily suppressed him.
So, the question was how to make a move effectively.
Cheap tricks were meaningless; Hals wouldn’t resort to that since Zephyr was his teacher.
Then what was the answer?
He didn’t know.
For such things, going all out was usually the solution.
Even though he might not have a burst mode.
Isn’t that how the main characters do it?
Just charge in and finish the job.
Of course, he needed to think too.
Hals slightly crouched, gathered strength in his legs and charged at Zephyr. He twisted his waist and aimed a punch at Zephyr’s shoulder.
Zephyr easily caught it with one hand.
Hals threw another punch at Zephyr’s chest.
Just as Zephyr was about to catch it, Hals suddenly stopped and gathered all his strength in his legs. He twisted his waist and kicked at Zephyr’s waist.
Zephyr, caught off guard, took the hit.
Of course, this wasn’t a big deal, but Zephyr blinked, a bit surprised.
“Not bad, Hals. How did you do that? That punch was all-out, right?”
When you throw a full-force punch, it’s hard to pull back, but Hals not only managed that, he also transitioned into a kick.
If it was just an ordinary halt, it wouldn’t be impressive. But Hals did it so smoothly, and quickly it seemed effortless.
“I can control my muscles well. I can make them stop or move on command.”
Zephyr nodded. Very few could achieve that.
Even he found it challenging.
It might be due to Hals’ special training.
“Alright, that’s enough combat training for today. Continue with your training.”
“Yes, Instructor Zephyr.”
Hals continued his practice.
Around noon, Hals left the training grounds and went to the cafeteria.
The Marine cafeteria was very clean. The meals were mostly curry rice, though other dishes were available but rare.
Meals here were free, requiring only identity verification.
The kids didn’t eat in the main cafeteria but in a special area for children.
However, Hals was an exception due to his larger appetite, so he ate in the main cafeteria.
Identity verification wasn’t necessary as Garp and Aokiji had introduced Hals, making him well-known.
“Wanna bet on how many barrels of curry rice Hals will eat today?”
“I bet three barrels.”
“I bet four.”
A few Marines joked as they watched Hals from a distance.
“Come on, place your bets.”
“I’ll put 2000 Beli on four barrels.”
“Get outta here with just 2000. I’m putting 5000.”
“I bet one barrel for 10,000 Beli.”
“You sure? Hals eats a lot. One barrel might not be enough.”
The Marines played around, but Hals paid no mind.
Seeing Hals, the cook felt a bit of a headache. This kid ate more than the average Marine, requiring a lot of food. Luckily, they had prepared extra.
The effects of Hals’ [Energy Potion] hadn’t worn off, so he would eat less today.
“Two barrels, please.”
Hals said to the much taller cook.
The cook, feeling helpless, went to fetch the two large barrels.
“Never mind, I’ll get them myself.”
Hals entered the kitchen and carried out the two large barrels himself.
Typically, these iron barrels contained curry, but these had curry rice.
More filling.
The sauce made the rice swell, making it more filling.
Hals asked the cook to pour the cooked rice into the curry barrels. Usually, he ate three barrels, which would be quickly consumed after training.
The cafeteria is open from six in the morning to nine at night.
Hals carried the two barrels to a corner to eat.
“Let’s eat.”
Hals put his hands together in a customary gesture, then picked up a large ladle and started eating.
He finished quickly.
“I’m full. Thank you for the meal.”
He handed the empty barrels to the cook and left.
“He ate less today. Was the food bad, or is he not feeling well?”
A blonde cook looked nervous. As a chef, he couldn’t let diners feel the food wasn’t tasty.
Hals knew the chefs in One Piece took their jobs seriously. “I just ate something earlier. I couldn’t eat much more.”
“If there are leftovers, I’ll come by tonight.”
Hals turned to leave.
“Oh no, my Beli!”
“Haha, your Beli is mine now.”
“Too bad.”
“Negative emotions from Marine A +500”
“Negative emotions from Marine B +700”
“Negative emotions from Marine C +900”
This betting culture isn’t good.
It needs correcting.
On a side note, the system’s labels are so lazy.
Marine A, B, C?
In the afternoon, Hals didn’t continue training. He decided to check on the other kids.
They were having sparring training.
Hals looked at the weaklings pecking at each other.
They just traded blows, one punch for another.
It seemed like the typical fighting style in One Piece but revealed many issues with these kids.
For example, they used all their strength in one punch without holding back, overextended their arms, and had awkward fist positions.
Of course, they hadn’t had many sparring sessions, mostly focusing on physical training.
“Boring. Weaklings pecking at each other. Pointless.”
Hals yawned. These kids were too weak.
“What did you say, you jerk?”
Bins seemed agitated, glaring at Hals angrily.
Others also glared at Hals, but since someone had already spoken up, they stayed silent.
“I said your sparring is boring, weaklings pecking at each other, pointless.” Hals paused, “Really pointless.”
“Then let’s fight. If you say our combat training is meaningless, prove it in a fight.”
“Sure.”
“Dance of the Groves!”
Bins started a strange dance, and vines sprouted around Hals, trying to entangle him.
“Boring ability.”
Hals casually tore off a vine and advanced.
