One Piece Dragon King - Chapter 39
“Don’t think I’ll forgive you just because of this. Hmph.”
Hals looked at the little girl in front of him, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Ain’s Devil Fruit ability was very strong. The Marines typically kept a close eye on Devil Fruit users, naturally knowing what Ain’s ability was.
Zephyr also knew about Ain’s ability and understood that if it hit Hals, he would disappear completely, leaving nothing behind.
And then what? How would he explain to his old friend that his grandson annoyed a little girl and got obliterated, literally leaving no trace behind?
What would Garp do? Probably fight him to the death.
Zephyr wouldn’t forgive himself either.
But, knowing what actually happened, Zephyr was speechless. Hals had explained everything to him without embellishment, easing Ain’s and the others’ anger. Hals even pleaded for Ain, so Zephyr forgave her, despite the near miss with his new disciple.
Everyone was curious why Hals did what he did.
“When I saw them, I just wanted to tease them. It made me happy.”
Zephyr covered his face, feeling like his new disciple had just embarrassed him, not knowing what to say.
Everyone else was silent, seemingly mourning for the two lying on the ground.
Bins had curry and stomach acid all over his face, which was utterly disgusting.
Two boys dragged them away, changed their clothes, washed their faces, and took them to the infirmary. Hals had controlled his strength, only making one vomit and the other almost vomit without causing any real harm.
Zephyr assigned Hals to clean the boys’ bathroom. Hals didn’t mind; with his water magic, it wouldn’t be troublesome.
Everyone dispersed, leaving Hals in silence with Ain, who suddenly blushed.
Ain’s actions were almost akin to betraying the Marines. Trying to kill a comrade without reason was close to treason. If Hals hadn’t pleaded for her, Ain’s fate would have been dire, even without hitting Hals.
Ain’s favorability towards Hals jumped by 50, going from -20 to 30.
Even though Hals started it all.
Ain had acted impulsively, driven by anger. She was still a child, not fully mature, and acted without thinking.
But Ain still had to be punished.
Zephyr left it to Hals to decide.
Hals’s face lit up with a mischievous grin, almost turning into Kizaru’s smirk.
Zephyr and Ain looked at Hals, Ain’s face showing fear, worried about what inappropriate thing Hals might do to her. But she knew it was her fault and could only brace herself.
“Negative emotions from Zephyr +200000”
“Negative emotions from Ain +200”
“Write a 5000-word reflection. And it must be all your own words, no borrowing or help from others.”
Although Hals was a poor student, he never experienced writing reflections since he was a well-behaved child. He wanted to see what it felt like, so he had Ain do it.
Poor Ain~
At her age, writing a 200-word essay was the norm. Writing 500 words was already impressive, practically exhausting half her brain cells. The Marines didn’t emphasize cultural education much. Though they could write, getting Ain to pen a 100-word essay was a challenge. Now, she had to write 5000 words.
Hals’s face beamed with joy.
Oh, and it’s due in three days.
Ain thought to herself, “It’s just 5000 words, it won’t take long.”
“Go back to your dorm,” Hals said, heading towards the dormitory area with Ain.
The Marine dormitories were nice. Although they didn’t have private bathrooms, the toilets were spotless, with no odd smells or stains, and were not squat toilets but seated ones.
Usually, four people shared a room. The quality of everything in the dorm was excellent. Even the beds didn’t creak.
Even on the first floor, there were no bugs. The dorms had three floors, not very tall.
“Wait.”
Ain called Hals.
“What is it?”
Hals was puzzled.
“Why are you heading towards the girls’ dormitory? Shouldn’t you go to the boys’ dorm?”
“Don’t you know the boys’ dorm is full?”
“I didn’t, but that’s no reason to head to the girls’ dorm. Don’t tell me you live in the girls’ dorm.”
Ain stepped back, even though they were still kids, there was a difference between boys and girls. Ain didn’t want a boy in her living space.
“Negative emotions from Ain +300”
“Hehe, guess.”
Hals ran towards the girls’ dormitory and disappeared quickly.
“Ah—”
Ain screamed.
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
Hals wasn’t staying in the girls’ dorm. Nearby, a new small courtyard had been set up for him.
Even if staying with Grandpa, he wouldn’t be in the girls’ dorm.
Ain, meanwhile, was paranoid, fearing Hals might suddenly appear and peek while she was in the bathroom or shower.
There were far fewer girls than boys, so many rooms in the girls’ dorm were unoccupied. Ain had a room to herself.
She was terrified that Hals might suddenly appear and do something inappropriate.
Yes, that must be it.
That bastard only assigned me 5000 words to make me lower my guard so he could make his move.
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
Hals didn’t know Ain’s wild imagination, nor did he care. After cleaning his small courtyard and resting, he cleaned the boys’ bathroom and returned to his small courtyard.
At night…
“Ah—why?” Ain screamed, clutching her head. Thankfully, it wasn’t 9 PM yet, the lights-out time. If she screamed then it would wake many people.
“Why is 5000 words so hard to write?”
Ain looked at her reflection, barely 300 words, and felt immense pain.
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
“Negative emotions from Ain +350”
That bastard must be planning to make his move when I’m exhausted.
Yes, that’s it.
