One Piece Dragon King - Chapter 53
Kaidou is on Onigashima.
The man known as the strongest creature on land, sea, and air is crying on the ground.
This does not match his terrifying appearance at all.
“Why, why do people always say I do strange things to my subordinates and that I swing both ways?”
Huge tears fall to the ground, soaking the surface.
“It’s too much, you bastard Mihawk.”
Kaidou touches his new scar, left by Mihawk.
“I will kill you.”
Kaidou suddenly stands up, his tears stopping, and picks up his spiked club.
. . . . . . . . .
On the other side.
“Mihawk.”
Shanks looks at his friend who came to drink with him, and they start drinking.
Mihawk pours out his grievances to Shanks, who is slightly surprised. This is not like his friend at all.
After Mihawk finishes speaking, Shanks takes out a book from his clothes with his only remaining arm.
“Big Mom and Kaidou’s Secret Romance in the Rocks Pirates. I think this book is very interesting, and I thought you—”
“Shanks.”
“What?”
Shanks looks at Mihawk, who has placed the world’s strongest black blade, Yoru, against Shanks’ neck.
“Put it away, Shanks.”
Seeing his friend’s unpredictable face, Shanks sighs and puts the book away.
“I was going to ask you to sign it.”
Shanks says casually.
“I’m going to kill you, Shanks.”
Mihawk suddenly gets angry and swings his sword at Shanks. Shanks quickly dodges, knowing that Mihawk isn’t serious about killing him, but still, getting slashed for no reason isn’t good.
“Die.”
Mihawk shouts angrily.
Chaos ensues.
. . . . . . . . .
Kizaru was punished, but since he’s an admiral, nothing much happened. He was just sent to catch pirates for a month.
This time, Kizaru didn’t slack off and seriously pursued pirates because it was related to his position.
Halse continued his training and eating routine. He managed a small piece of land. With his plant magic, he could accelerate plant growth, so he grew a lot of vegetables. Halse well maintained the tradition of farming.
The small piece of land was beside Halse’s small yard, which he tended himself. Using plant magic to ripen the plants, other magical plants would pick and collect the fruits.
All Halse had to do was occasionally use his plant magic.
Halse wondered if it was time for him to graduate.
But, if he were to graduate, it would be when he no longer felt pain during his body training.
However, the system presented something new.
“Negative emotions reached 10 million, system update available. Spend 5 million negative emotions to update?”
Halse was at a loss for words. The system found another way to drain his negative emotions.
“No.”
Although the existing features could still be used, the store remained accessible, and he could continue his body training and meditation without clicking the panel. Negative emotions would still be collected, but Halse still felt a bit uncomfortable.
The system was just upgrading, and no features were lost, so why did it feel so uncomfortable?
Halse thought for a moment.
“Damn merchant system.”
It just wanted to reduce his negative emotions.
He thought back to a phone update that had rendered his phone useless. Damn merchants.
Trying to scam his negative emotions?
No way.
Halse’s income was significant, but so were his expenses. Every day, he consumed a large amount of [Large Energy Potion] and [Large Healing Potion] [Healing Potion].
Thus, the growth of his negative emotions wasn’t very fast.
Looking at the top-tier strong individuals who seemed to get angry and give him over a million, it wasn’t like they were always angry. Meanwhile, Halse’s training consumed far more negative emotions.
However, it wasn’t a big deal since there were still spare negative emotions.
Perhaps due to Halse’s increased strength or significant spending, he could now buy many potions, though the daily purchase limit was unknown.
Thus, Halse’s growth accelerated.
After thinking for a moment, Halse decided to wait a bit before updating.
After all, losing 5 million negative emotions at once was unsettling.
So, Halse continued his cautious development.
Training. . . . . . .
Passionate youth requires sweat and muscle.
Halse resumed his body training.
Hours passed, and a new person came to the small yard. Previously, while training, Halse hadn’t noticed since the bloodsucking vine hadn’t been triggered, indicating it was one of the few familiar faces.
The old man looked distressed when he saw Halse emerging from the flower bud, covered in blood. Halse didn’t say much and summoned a huge stream of water with his water magic to clean his body. The bloodsucking vine cleaned up.
Changing into prepared clothes, Halse used plant magic to make two chairs and sat on one, looking at the old man who didn’t sit down.
“Old man, why did you come to see me suddenly?”
“Halse, didn’t you say you wouldn’t get hurt while training? Why are you covered in blood?”
The air still seemed to carry a faint scent of blood, though it was fake.
The bloodsucking vine would go berserk at the smell of blood, more terrifying than a shark in a blood pool, quickly draining all nearby blood. If not for Halse being the vine’s master, he’d already be a dried corpse.
“That was the old method, which wasn’t fast enough, so I switched to a new training method.”
“Does it have to be like this?”
“I’m always afraid. Afraid that my growth isn’t fast enough, afraid I won’t be able to kill those strong pirates, afraid I’ll fall behind my growing brothers. While I can currently roam the first half of the Grand Line without issues, this power isn’t enough for me. Perhaps only with Whitebeard’s power would I be at ease.”
“Is that so?”
“Never mind, I won’t say more. This is your own decision.”
The old man initially wanted to educate Halse like Luffy, with a punch to make him stop, but he couldn’t bear to.
This was Halse’s resolve. To become stronger and protect those important to him, even if it meant breaking bones, was worth it.
