One Piece Dragon King - Chapter 8
Hals stuffed a bottle of [Pain Elixir] into a rat’s mouth. The rat writhed in agony on the ground.
“Negative Emotion from Rat +90”
“Negative Emotion from Rat +90”
“Negative Emotion from Rat +90”
“Negative Emotion from Rat +90”
“Negative Emotion from Squirrel +90”
“Negative Emotion from Wild Boar +90”
“Negative Emotion from…”
Hals distributed many [Pain Elixirs] to various animals, collecting their negative emotions.
Hals felt very pleased.
Suddenly, a snake darted out and swallowed the rat that had just drunk the [Pain Elixir].
Hals: “…”
Did I just waste a bottle of [Pain Elixir]?
Hals felt anger rise.
Even though his [Pain Elixirs] weren’t precious, as one animal drinking a [Pain Elixir] could easily earn enough for several bottles, he didn’t like being undermined.
In the next moment, Hals was ready to beat the snake and make it drink a [Pain Elixir] as punishment.
However, the snake started convulsing, and rolling on the ground, and Hals received +100 negative emotion points from the rat.
The rat was dead.
This world’s animals had impressive digestion capabilities.
Hals was speechless.
But it didn’t matter.
Now the snake would provide plenty of negative emotions.
After touring most of the island, Hals gathered enough negative emotion points.
“Negative Emotion from Fox +90”
“Negative Emotion from Turtle +90”
“Negative Emotion from Squirrel +90”
“Negative Emotion from…”
Hals felt it wasn’t enough, so he found a water source and poured a bottle of [Pain Elixir] into it.
The animals drinking from the water suffered.
“Negative Emotion from Fish +90”
“Negative Emotion from Fish +90”
“Negative Emotion from Fish +90”
“Negative Emotion from Squirrel +90”
…
Feeling it still wasn’t enough, Hals added another bottle.
He only added the [Pain Elixir] to the middle part of a small stream. He used the ship’s internal water source and could also desalinate seawater with onboard equipment. He could fetch water from the stream’s upper reaches if needed.
So, near a small stream on the island, there was a scene.
A group of animals convulse, cry in pain, and fish twitching in the water. No animal dared to seize the chance to eat the convulsing creatures because they too, were convulsing.
“Negative Emotion from…”
Before long, Hals’s negative emotions exceeded ten thousand, reaching a terrifying fifty thousand and still growing.
When someone is beaten, they generate negative emotions not only during the beating but also from hatred towards the aggressor afterward.
So Hals harvested a lot of negative emotions.
Two new items appeared in the shop.
Magic and Paralysis Elixir.
Magic came in many types, with five levels.
Magic was broadly divided into Elemental and Special types.
Elemental included Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Lightning, Ice, and Plants.
Special included Light, Dark, Time, and Space.
Elemental magic was straightforward, utilizing elemental forces.
Special magic, such as Light, wasn’t like Kizaru’s light attacks but focused on healing and buffs, though it had offensive capabilities.
Dark encompassed many areas like necromancy, illusions, blood, shadows, and negative buffs.
Time and Space were self-explanatory.
Magic was bought by Level.
Level 1 Elemental Magic required 100,000 negative emotions.
Special Magic required 500,000 negative emotions.
That’s just Level 1.
Paralysis Elixir needed 1,000 negative emotions.
Half a bottle of Paralysis Elixir could immobilize someone with a power level of 500. A full bottle would put them to sleep for three hours.
Hals noticed the animals were providing fewer negative emotions and realized the [Pain Elixir]’s effects were wearing off.
He went to the stream and saw most animals drinking upstream.
Hals decided to add ten bottles of [Pain Elixir].
Previously, he had used only two bottles. The animals drank small amounts, so the effects wore off quickly, lasting at most a minute. The sudden immobility created massive negative emotions, as injured animals in the wild are easily killed, and these animals’ state was worse than being injured.
Some might have also been animals Hals had force-fed [Pain Elixir], trying to drink normal water but finding it tainted again, causing them to break down.
Hals thought for a moment and added 20 more bottles to the stream.
The entire stream turned slightly purple.
Hals, having done this, returned to the ship.
Should he add [Pain Elixir] to the seawater too?
As Hals pondered, he found he could no longer buy [Pain Elixir].
What? Only 200 bottles per day?
Hals scratched his head.
No matter.
The stream would give him enough negative emotions.
Returning to the ship, Hals trained in [Dragon’s Body Refinement Technique] for an hour, then drank two bottles of [Healing Elixir].
The [Healing Elixir] was a pale gold liquid that emitted a faint glow even in the dark. The glass bottle bore a white winged emblem topped with a halo.
It looked nice.
The [Pain Elixir] had no scent or taste, only causing pain.
Hals bought a bottle of [Paralysis Elixir].
The [Paralysis Elixir] was blue, with a lightning symbol on the glass bottle.
None of these elixirs had a scent.
Opening a bottle of [Paralysis Elixir], Hals poured it into the seawater, hoping for unexpected results.
First, he needed to learn a basic spell. Water magic was a good choice; the One Piece world was full of water, making it highly practical and perhaps effective against Devil Fruit users.
