One Piece Fire Dragon Roar - Chapter 296
“Alright!” Vlad nodded in satisfaction, a joyful smile on his face, holding a piece of paper filled with black characters—the rubbing of the Road Poneglyph’s text. Indeed, his mission to Zou was perfectly accomplished.
“Done!” Vlad folded the rubbing and slipped it back into his trouser pocket. Thankfully, due to his large frame and the extra room in his pants, it wasn’t too difficult to fit such a large piece of paper.
“Hahaha, delightful! One of the four Road Poneglyphs is now in my hands! Hehehe, fantastic! One-quarter of the way there!!” With this, one of the four Road Poneglyphs had fallen into Vlad’s hands, marking a 25% completion of his quest. The other pieces remained—with Charlotte Linlin and Kaido- and were not likely to be obtained soon. Vlad wasn’t in a rush.
His only worry was the location of the last Road Poneglyph. With no clues about its whereabouts, even if he secured the other three, it wouldn’t be helpful if he couldn’t find the final destination.
“But, let it be. It will appear when it’s meant to! No use worrying now; I just need to do what I can now. The rest is a problem for me in the future!”
“Now that my goal here is complete, it’s time to leave,” Vlad chuckled. “Staying longer might lead to discovery, which would be trouble.”
“Shoop!” With a light leap, Vlad jumped back into the tree hole.
“Next.”
The platinum dragon soared into the sky, departing as stealthily as he had arrived, disturbing no one.
“Let’s head there next!” Vlad mused, foreseeing another journey that was unlikely to be entirely pleasant.
Leaving behind these words, Vlad’s figure vanished into the sky, leaving only the Whale Tree with a large hole swaying gently in the wind.
Afterward.
“What’s going on?” A panicked voice echoed in the space, filled with endless alarm and confusion.
“What’s the matter?”
“Quick, quick, call Duke Inuarashi! And Master Nekomamushi! Something terrible has happened!!”
“Something terrible? What exactly happened? Do we need to alert Master Nekomamushi?”
The initial voice nearly screamed, “A great disaster has occurred! A real disaster!!!”
“The sacred ground has been breached!!!!!!”
…
On the Grand Line, a ship moved slowly through the water.
It was a sizable pirate ship, proudly flying its pirate flag.
“Ha ha ha, I am splendid!” declared the man at the bow, his voice ringing with the cadence of a poem as if he was reciting a beautiful sonnet. His shameless self-praise somehow carried a strange beauty, as if professionally trained.
Despite the man’s somewhat boastful words, his appearance matched his self-description. He was indeed very splendid. Wearing a cowboy hat adorned with fluff, his shoulder-length blond hair cascaded down, and his white shirt was unbuttoned enough to reveal a muscular chest covered by a white cape.
He was handsome, undeniably so, exuding a robust aristocratic aura. He was so strikingly handsome that, compared to him, Vlad, who was also considered attractive, seemed a bit less so. Among the Fire Dragon Pirates, perhaps only the cook Dino could hold a candle to this man regarding looks.
The man held a wanted poster in his hand, bearing his likeness, and looked utterly enamored with it as if he was not seeing a picture of himself but a rare beauty.
“In this world, the most splendid person is me!” he proclaimed. “I am the brightest star on this sea!”
The man was Cavendish, also known as the White Horse Cavendish, captain of the Beautiful Pirates, a newcomer to the New World.
Though a rookie, he was no ordinary novice. Despite appearing narcissistic and possibly unreliable, he was a big-name pirate with a bounty of 280 million berries, one of this year’s Supernovas, and a notable figure drawing attention worldwide.
Though not as “shining” as he claimed, Cavendish was a prominent figure in these waters. Among the new wave of rookie pirates, few could match him.
“Captain, really…” His crew, scattered across the deck, watched him with admiration and amusement. “Consistent as ever!”
“Ever since his bounty reached 280 million, he hasn’t let that wanted poster out of sight.”
