One Piece: I Can Simplify Skills - Chapter 37
“Kuraigana Island!” Garp announced. Suddenly, Rokujins’s expression stiffened as an image flashed in his mind: Hawkeye! Kuraigana Island was the very island where Hawkeye resided. To think that Garp could arrange for Hawkeye to teach him swordsmanship was entirely unexpected! The world’s strongest swordsman? How powerful could he be? Being a pirate and one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, it’s no wonder Garp and Zeff kept it under wraps.
Where else would you see a navy man learning swordsmanship from a pirate? As they drew closer, the sun in the sky gradually became obscured by dark clouds, and the surrounding fog thickened, obscuring the path.
Fortunately, Garp led the way, or they might have yet to find it. Half an hour later, they finally arrived at Kuraigana Island, which was eerily gloomy, with a chilling air.
“Look at that castle, kid,” Garp pointed out. “That’s where your swordsmanship teacher, Hawkeye, resides. Go on; it’s all up to you now.”
“This is also his first test for you. Whether or not you earn his recognition depends on yourself!” Garp patted him on the shoulder solemnly.
“Understood, Grandpa!” Rokujins replied, looking up at the towering castle in the distance. “Remember, I’ll be waiting for you at the Navy headquarters in two years!”
“Alright, Grandpa, I’ll return!” After saying this, Garp boarded a small boat and left. Watching Rokujins’s figure gradually disappear, Garp couldn’t help but feel a bit worried.
‘You must survive, kid!’
Not long after. A system notification sounded.
?Ding, congratulations on triggering the mission: Pass Hawkeye’s test and reach the castle. System rewards: Energy points +2, Swordsmanship level +1!?
“It seems reaching the castle isn’t going to be easy!” Rokujins chuckled lightly and headed towards the forest. By looking at the distance, it would take at least two or three days on foot. Moreover, the forest was filled with armed baboons mimicking Hawkeye’s swordsmanship, and their strength was certainly not weak.
The numbers were plentiful, and for one person to defeat those baboons was quite a challenge! But one must try, right? About ten minutes into his walk, a strange noise suddenly came from ahead, sounding like some animal.
“Hmm?” Rokujins gripped his sword hilt tightly, staring intently ahead, ready for battle. An armoured baboon, wearing a steel helmet and armour and carrying a large sword on its back, was swinging between the trees and rapidly approaching Rokujins’s position.
?Character: Armed Baboon?
?Level: C-?
?Skills: Swordsmanship (C-), Physical Strength (F+)?
?Bounty: 0 Berries?
“What? This baboon has C-level strength?” Rokujins frowned, his muscles tensing up. The speed of the armed baboon was incredibly fast, and it soon reached Rokujins, leaping down from a tree while drawing its large sword and slashing towards Rokujins on the ground.
A flash of the sword! The blade swiftly moved towards Rokujins’s position!
“Navy Six Styles: Shave!” In an instant, Rokujins stomped on the ground several times with his right foot, using Shave to swiftly dodge to the side, avoiding the armed baboon’s attack.
“Boom!” Meanwhile, where the armed baboon had struck, a deep trench had already formed.
“Strong!” Rokujins was somewhat surprised. Not only was the baboon’s swordsmanship strong, but it also executed slashing attacks—could it be a beast with spiritual awareness? However, the armed baboon was not about to let Rokujins go and attacked again.
“Seeking death!” Rokujins’s eyes hardened, no longer holding back. His right hand was instantly covered in black Armament Haki, shimmering with a metallic luster, and the Haki gradually spread along the black blade until it covered the entire blade.
At the same time, the armed baboon was already charging at him, raising its large sword to chop down at Rokujins’s head, making strange noises.
“Woah woah!” Rokujins, fearless, appeared to slowly draw his black blade from his waist. His right foot also activated Shave, quickly charging towards the approaching armed baboon.
As he neared, he swung his sword! The blade flashed! In a moment, Rokujins had already moved behind the armed baboon, slowly exhaling and sheathing his black blade. Looking back at the baboon, it stood stunned. Suddenly, a wound appeared on its body. Blood spurted out
Survival offers hope and the chance to reach the castle! This also provides an opportunity to continually train swordsmanship and Armament Haki! Time ticked by, second by second… The first night. Rokujins rested on a large tree, looking up at the distant castle. Under the moonlight, it appeared even more mysterious and terrifying, yet it was the place he wanted to reach. After a day of fighting, Rokujins was covered in wounds, and his clothes were torn and ragged.
“Looking at today’s situation, it might take at least 10 days to reach the castle!” Rokujins sighed helplessly. If it weren’t for the large groups of armed baboons, perhaps it would only take 5 days. Encountering a large group meant he had to run away to avoid them. Strangely, after chasing him for a while, those armed baboons would give up and stop pursuing!
The next morning. Rokujins set off again, continually battling the armed baboons in the forest. Each battle also increased his various experiences.
?Ding, congratulations to the host, ‘Armament Haki’ experience +20!?
?Ding, congratulations to the host, ‘Swordsmanship’ experience +1!?
?Ding, congratulations to the host…?
Thus, he continued to spend time in the forest, quickly gaining experience in various skills. The second day passed, then the third day, the fourth day… On the fifth day, Rokujins had finally covered about half the distance. He was much closer to the castle!
The sixth day, the seventh day, the eighth day… Until the ninth day, when the central castle seemed almost within reach. However, the largest gathering of armed baboons was ahead, including one particularly terrifying baboon with B-level strength.
