One Piece: I Can Simplify Skills - Chapter 42
Inside the basement of the Tree of Knowledge, it was more relaxed than outside but also somewhat damp. The room was mostly filled with books, and the historical text mentioned by the system was nowhere in sight. “Could it be hidden?” Rokujins carefully examined every item in the basement. Since the Marines had found it here, the historical text must be in the basement! Indeed, some details were omitted in the anime and manga.
Suddenly, a clicking sound echoed. A side bookshelf swung open, revealing a little girl in a skirt stepping out. She asked, “Who are you? What are you doing here?” Rokujins turned his head and immediately recognised her as a young Robin. Smiling, he said, “You must be Robin, right?”
“Dr. Clover sent me. He said your mom’s back, and the Marines are on their way, so you should get out quickly!” Dr. Clover, the man with a clover on his head, had sent him, ostensibly to get Robin out and to peek inside the bookshelf.
“What? My mom? Is my mom back?” Robin’s face lit up with joy as she asked again.
“Yeah, why else would he send me to call you?” Rokujins nodded affirmatively.
“Okay, thank you!” As soon as she heard the news, Robin hurried out, even forgetting to close the open bookshelf.
“Hehe!” Rokujins chuckled, swiftly slipping inside the bookshelf. He immediately spotted a large block of historical text inside, a square piece inscribed with strange characters, none he recognised.
“Never mind, I’ll just take it, and we can figure out the rest later!” Saying this, Rokujins stepped forward and used the system’s backpack to take the massive historical text. It was noted that even the Five Elders couldn’t destroy this text, which was crafted by a ruined kingdom, indicating their technology was very advanced. ?Ding, congratulations to the host for completing the task, system reward: Energy points +2!?
After taking the historical text, Rokujins quickly headed outside. Meanwhile, on the first floor of the Tree of Knowledge, Robin was tearfully chatting with her mother, Olvia.
“Robin, how did you come up from the basement?” Dr. Clover asked.
“Didn’t you send someone to call me out, Doctor?” Robin replied, just as she saw Rokujins emerging from the basement, and pointed at him, “It was him!”
“Who?” Dr. Clover immediately looked in the direction Robin was pointing but saw nothing. “There’s no one there!”
“He was just there.” Robin frowned slightly.
At that moment, Olvia suddenly realised something, urging, “Never mind that now, the Marines are coming, and I need to stop them. Stay here.” “And remember, I’m neither your friend nor know any of you. Make sure to remember that!” She grabbed a long spear and left the Tree of Knowledge with that.
“Mom!” Robin called out urgently but was held back by Dr. Clover, “Let your mom go, Robin! She’s doing this for you. You’re so young, they surely won’t think you’re a scholar.”
“Mom…” But Robin didn’t want to listen, struggling fiercely.
Not far away, Rokujins watched Olvia’s departing figure, sighing, “This woman likes to stir up trouble!” His task was to rescue Olvia and ensure her safety. Having no choice, he followed her. Olvia wouldn’t die so quickly; he could get Olvia out of there if they didn’t run into Aokiji or Akainu.
Soon after, Olvia confronted Spandine, Spandam’s father and also the chief of CP9. Both father and son were weak and cowardly in combat. Naturally, with the help of two bodyguards, Spandine successfully captured Olvia and brought her back to the site of the Tree of Knowledge.
Once they had left, Rokujins emerged from the trees, muttering, “Ah, doing a mission is tough!” He had chosen not to intervene just then, not wanting the Marines to know that Olvia had been rescued. Besides, the two bodyguards with Spandine were members of CP9, both with B-level strength. A quick resolution of the fight was unlikely and might even draw the attention of Aokiji and Akainu.
Following them, Rokujins also headed towards the Tree of Knowledge. Upon arrival, Dr. Clover and the other scholars had already been captured and rounded up. Robin was also there, not having left. Seeing her mother captured, she immediately ran forward, “Mom, are you okay?”
“Yo, you even have a child; a scholar’s child should also be captured!” Spandine scoffed.
“Yes, sir!” Several agents immediately restrained Robin.
“Robin
!” Dr. Clover called out anxiously. He then began speaking with the Five Elders on the phone…
Not far away, Rokujins watched intently, listening to Dr. Clover’s words. According to what he told the Five Elders, the enemy of that kingdom was the current World Government, which had also destroyed their kingdom. The historical text conveyed a kind of ideology.
As for what exactly it was, no one knew, though Dr. Clover might have. But before he could finish his explanation, he was ordered to be executed by the Five Elders. Rokujins was intently listening when the sound of cannon fire suddenly erupted in the distance. “Boom! Boom! Boom…” Turning his head, he realised the entire island was essentially surrounded by the Navy, with black cannonballs raining down from the sky.
“Ah! It’s starting now? But I’m still here! Move, move!” Spandine, seeing this, cursed and ran off. To him, survival was paramount. At this moment, the Tree of Knowledge was set on fire, leading Olvia, Dr. Clover, and other scholars to rush back to save some of the books. However, an unexpected figure appeared next, which surprised Rokujins. Sengoku appeared again, and he was helping Robin escape. The two have a good relationship!
“Why is he still here?” Rokujins wondered suspiciously. But now, there was no time to ponder; using Soru, he quickly ran towards the Tree of Knowledge. He had to save Olvia!
Minutes later, when Rokujins arrived at the Tree of Knowledge, the entire tree was already engulfed in flames, making it difficult for ordinary people to enter or exit. However, he could still see scholars inside desperately throwing books outside, hoping they could be preserved. But all these efforts were futile; even if some books were temporarily saved, the Marines would inevitably choose to destroy them later.
After a moment of thought, Rokujins looked up at where they were throwing the books, his eyes narrowed. He kicked the ground fiercely, unleashing a burst of power and leaping into the air. “Bang! Bang! Bang…” In mid-air, he continuously kicked as if stepping on the air, using Geppo to ascend higher and higher.
