One Piece: I Can Simplify Skills - Chapter 52
Rokujin searched for a long time but found no trace of the Devil Fruit. He only saw stones, gold, bones, and some broken items. “Could it be that the Thunder Fruit isn’t in the Sky Lord’s stomach?” Rokujin muttered to himself, frowning. If that were true, getting swallowed by the Sky Lord would have been for nothing.
Suddenly, a light bulb went off in Rokujin’s mind. He realized he shouldn’t think from his perspective but from Enel’s. If Enel were here, he would have successfully entered the Sky Lord’s stomach and started looking for what he wanted. He would need to find a way out whether or not he found it in the stomach. Given Enel’s current strength, even if he obtained the Thunder Fruit, he couldn’t master its power quickly. Therefore, Enel would look for another way out. There were three paths:
1. Breaking through the Sky Lord’s stomach. He didn’t have the strength for that.
2. Forcing open the Sky Lord’s mouth and exiting from above. He still wouldn’t have the strength to do that quickly.
Which left the third path: exiting through the Sky Lord’s rear end! “Damn it! Do I have to go out that way to find the Thunder Fruit?” Rokujin couldn’t help but curse. He didn’t want to do it, but if he didn’t and instead cut his way out, he might not find the fruit or even destroy it.
After much deliberation, Rokujin made up his mind. “Let’s do it!” he muttered, gritting his teeth, and headed toward the dark, murky exit. Using Armament Haki to protect his body from filth, he cautiously made his way, inspecting the surroundings like a doctor diagnosing a patient.
While moving through the dark tunnel, something caught Rokujin’s eye—a corner of a black object. Upon closer inspection, it seemed part of a chest embedded in the Sky Lord’s flesh. Drawing his black blade, Rokujin swiftly sliced through the surrounding flesh. The sword light flashed, revealing the entire chest while the Sky Lord’s flesh bled profusely.
The chest was small, about the size of two basketballs. Opening it, Rokujin found a blue Devil Fruit inside, crackling with blue electricity. “The Thunder Fruit! It was worth coming here!” He was about to eat it but decided to wash it first. Stowing the Thunder Fruit in his system backpack, a system notification sounded.
?Ding, would you like to simplify the Thunder Fruit??
“Simplify? What’s the benefit of simplifying a fruit?” Rokujin asked.
?Ding, simplification requires 10 energy points. Simplified Thunder Fruit will overcome its weaknesses, ignoring the effects of the sea and Seastone!?
“Great! Simplify it!” Rokujin decided. Overcoming the fruit’s fatal weaknesses for just 10 energy points was a no-brainer!
?Ding, simplifying ‘Thunder Fruit’… Simplification is successful!?
The simplified Thunder Fruit looked the same but would undoubtedly work as promised. Holding his sword, Rokujin sliced open the Sky Lord’s body and crawled out. “Finally out!” he exclaimed, emerging as the Sky Lord lay unconscious from pain. With the Thunder Fruit in hand, Rokujin glanced at the Sky Lord and, uninterested in its fate, hurried toward Shandora to retrieve the historical text.
Taking a direct path back, Rokujin avoided encountering Enel, who was searching for the Sky Lord. In about ten minutes, Rokujin returned to Shandora, placed the historical text in his system space, and was soon surrounded by Sky Islanders. Among them was a man in golden armor, riding a strange bird-like creature.
[Character: Gan Fall]
[Position: God of Skypiea]
[Level: B+]
[Skills: Gunnery (B+), Riding (C)]
[Bounty: None]
Gan Fall? He wore golden armor as the God, but only iron when he wasn’t?
“Blue Sea person! What are you doing here? Where is the stone tablet? Did you take it?” Gan Fall demanded, holding a conical spear.
“I don’t know. Do you think I have anything on me that could take something?” Rokujin spread his hands innocently.
“Uh…” Gan Fall’s face darkened, realizing Rokujin had a point. “Leave immediately! This is no place for you. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!”
“Alright!” Rokujin smiled and walked away. He was ready for a fight if they had tried to stop him, but since they didn’t, he saw no reason to start one.
Half an hour later, Rokujin found a secluded spot, took out the Thunder Fruit, cleaned it thoroughly, and took a bite. Expecting a horrible taste, he was surprised to find it delicious, even a bit sweet! Perhaps it was due to the system’s simplification!
In just a few bites, the entire Thunder Fruit was consumed. A surge of energy flowed from Rokujin’s stomach to every part of his body. He extended his right hand, channeling the energy within, and sparks of electricity began to form a ball of lightning in his palm. “Zzz…”
?Ding, congratulations to the host for completing the task. System rewards: +2 Energy Points, +2 Fruit Development Ability Levels!?
?Ding, congratulations to the host for unlocking Thunder Fruit skills: “Discharge” and “Judgment of God”!?
A new skill is unlocked each time the fruit’s ability levels up. Rokujin then simplified the fruit development skill.
?Ding, simplifying skill “Fruit Development”… Simplification successful… “Fruit Development” ? “Sleeping”!?
Developing the fruit’s abilities means getting accustomed to its power and understanding one’s body. Thus, after simplification, it just means sleeping.
With everything settled, Rokujin returned to where the ship was docked and found that none of the pirates were there. They had probably followed Kurike to search for gold. Pirates, after all, are after treasure! So, Rokujin rested on the deck, waiting for Kurike and his crew to return so they could head back to Jaya Island together.
Three days later, familiar shouts reached his ears. “Quick! Run! The Sky Islanders are catching up!” Rokujin slowly stood up, looking toward the direction of the noise. It was Kurike, leading his crew in a frantic escape, chased by priests wielding various dials. Slashing Dials, Flame Dials… Kurike and his men were caught off guard and had to flee!
