One Piece My Partner is Too Crooked - Chapter 83
Boom boom boom boom boom!
The deafening explosions of the cannonballs shattered the tranquil sea.
Blazing firelight reflected on the water, with thick smoke rising, filling the air with a deadly aura.
In front of the Infinite Dream, a high wall of water rose, blocking the powerful cannon fire.
Aqua, holding her goddess staff, bathed in blue light, with water droplets of various sizes floating around her.
Having experienced a sea battle before, she was adept at this method of defending against cannonballs.
Even with ten pirate ships firing simultaneously, breaking through the continuous water wall was difficult!
At times like these, this idiot did resemble a Water Goddess a bit.
“To think she can so easily block the entire fleet’s attack…”
Gin stared blankly at the indestructible water wall.
Though he had heard rumors, witnessing the power of a Devil Fruit user firsthand was astonishing.
As the combat captain of Krieg’s pirate fleet, he knew very well the power of their cannonballs.
Under such concentrated bombardment, even a sturdy Navy warship would be sunk without a doubt!
Seeing Aqua so effortlessly managing the defense, Gin found it hard to connect her with the girl who usually lounged on the sofa, eating snacks.
“Pff, with that kind of strength, where do they get off calling themselves the overlords of the East Blue? East Blue’s little turtles is more like it!”
Realizing the enemy couldn’t even break through the water wall, Aqua quickly reverted to her true form, letting out a series of proud taunts.
Then, with a “whoosh,” a sharp harpoon silently pierced through the water wall amidst the cannon fire.
Like it had eyes, the harpoon shot straight towards Aqua.
In the blink of an eye, it was right before her arrogant face!
Immersed in her mocking, Aqua didn’t have time to react, her mind blank, as she watched the harpoon enlarge in her vision.
Buzz!
Just a few centimeters from her forehead, the harpoon suddenly stopped.
With red light flashing in his eyes, Icey grabbed it firmly.
“Save the gloating for after we win. The enemy came prepared this time, so stay alert, Aqua.”
Blocked by the water wall, Krieg’s pirate fleet couldn’t aim their harpoons accurately.
For one to hit Aqua, it must mean her luck was really bad…
Such a cool statement brought Aqua back to her senses, and she burst into tears: “Waaah, Lord Icey, thank you for saving me!”
Swoosh swoosh swoosh!
While they spoke, more harpoons pierced through the water wall, breaking through the air.
Though they came from different directions, their target was undoubtedly Aqua!
Covering his arms with Haki, Icey blocked all the harpoons, then frowned at the stunned Aqua.
For a moment, he considered tying the unlucky goddess to the ship’s bow to draw enemy fire, preventing the Infinite Dream from getting damaged.
—Although harpoons were less powerful than cannonballs, their penetration could easily pierce the ship’s wooden planks.
“Damn! Why are they all aiming at me?”
Aqua finally realized the severity of the situation and angrily questioned Gin, “Gin, you’re part of that pirate crew, right? What’s with these weapons!”
“Well, I…” Gin stammered.
How could he know when the pirate fleet got such precise targeting methods!
Gin was also confused by Icey’s brute force blocking the harpoons barehanded.
No wonder they could defeat pirates with bounties of over ten million Beli; their physical strength was monstrous…
Bang!
Finally, a harpoon veered off and hit the Infinite Dream’s hull, leaving a hole.
Following it, more and more harpoons pierced the water curtain, striking the ship’s cabin, railings, and deck.
The cannon fire gradually subsided, but Krieg’s pirate fleet’s assault grew fiercer.
Notably, amidst the random harpoons, King stood with his arms crossed, unscathed, forming a stark contrast with Aqua!
“This won’t do. We need to go on the offensive, Aqua.”
Seeing the increasing damage to the Infinite Dream, Icey deflected an oncoming harpoon and gave Aqua an order.
Having decided to fight Krieg’s pirate fleet, he naturally had a plan.
Originally, he intended to deplete their ammunition as much as possible before counterattacking. Now, it seemed Krieg wasn’t a simple-minded fool.
Even though his strength was enough to deal with most of the major pirates in the East Blue, lacking large-scale attacks to clear minions, facing a fleet of thousands was difficult and could lead to being overwhelmed.
Therefore, reducing the enemy’s ranged firepower and numbers advantage was crucial!
“Is it time for that move now?”
Sensing the situation, Aqua unknowingly hid behind King.
Then, a harpoon landed right by King’s foot, narrowly missing his sole.
Seeing more harpoons targeting his position, the calm King’s inner voice screamed: “Don’t come any closer!”
“Yes,” Icey nodded.
To prepare for the possible appearance of Krieg’s pirate fleet, he had discussed the battle plan with Aqua beforehand.
“Got it!”
With that, Aqua’s body glowed with dazzling blue light, water swirling around her, exuding a sacred aura.
After a simple chant, a large water magic circle appeared above Krieg’s pirate fleet.
Drip.
A drop of water first dripped from the magic circle, falling on the deck of Krieg’s flagship.
Before the pirates could react, a torrential rain emitting a faint green glow poured down, enveloping all the pirate ships.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh!
For a moment, the previously calm sea echoed with the sound of rain.
“Heh, is this the flood that could supposedly drown a town?”
On the flagship, Krieg extended his hand to catch the rain, letting out an unrestrained, disdainful laugh, “Those Navy fools always exaggerate. I even coated my ships with waterproof grease for this?”
The pirates standing in the rain, after a brief moment of confusion, all burst into laughter, holding their bellies.
They had followed Krieg through the East Blue, facing waves tens of meters high. How could a mere rainstorm scare them?
“Increase the high-pressure harpoon output and turn that little sea restaurant into a porcupine!” Krieg waved his hand.
Following his orders, the pirates were about to load more harpoons when suddenly, a dull thud echoed from one of the pirate ships.
The ship rocked violently, causing pirates carrying weapons on the deck to tumble.
“Captain Krieg, it’s bad! It’s bad!”
“Sea Kings, several Sea Kings are beneath us, tearing at the hull!”
